Atiq Ahmed - India's DON that became a POLITICIAN | Atiq Ahmed’s story - 18th April 2023
Atiq Ahmed was a gangster - known as "first gangster" of Uttar Pradesh. He was shot down by assasins while returning from a medical checkup. In this video, we understand how a criminal became a politician and got elected a record 5 times from Allahabad west constituency.
In this video, we delve into the complex relationship between crime and politics in India. With a long history of corruption and criminal activity in the political sphere, it's no surprise that the two are often intertwined. We explore the roots of this connection, looking at the ways in which politics can both enable and perpetuate criminal activity. From the role of money in elections to the use of muscle power to control local communities, we examine the many ways in which crime and politics intersect in India. Along the way, we also discuss some of the major scandals and controversies that have rocked the Indian political landscape in recent years. Join us as we take a deep dive into this important and often overlooked topic.
Who is Yogi Adityanath?
Yogi Adityanath is a prominent Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, one of India's most populous states. Born as Ajay Singh Bisht, Yogi Adityanath is known for his controversial remarks and actions, as well as his strong stance on Hindutva ideology.
Yogi Adityanath started his political career as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's parliament, in 1998. He has been a member of parliament from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, for five consecutive terms.
Who is Atiq Ahmed?
Atiq Ahmed is a controversial Indian politician and businessman who has been involved in a number of criminal cases over the years. Born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, Ahmed began his political career as a member of the Samajwadi Party, but later formed his own political party, the Apna Dal.
Ahmed's rise to prominence in Uttar Pradesh politics was marked by violence and criminal activity. He has been accused of involvement in several murders and attempted murders, as well as kidnapping and extortion. Despite these allegations, he has managed to win several elections and has served as a member of parliament from Phulpur, Uttar Pradesh, and a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Ahmed's criminal past has not stopped him from pursuing his political ambitions, and he has often used his wealth and influence to sway elections in his favor. In 2019, he was even able to secure a ticket from the Bahujan Samaj Party to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the Phulpur constituency.
Despite his success as a politician, Ahmed's criminal record has continued to haunt him. In 2017, he was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police for his alleged involvement in the murder of a businessman. He was later released on bail, but the case is still pending in court.
Ahmed's controversial reputation has made him a polarizing figure in Indian politics, with some viewing him as a criminal and others as a champion of the underprivileged. Regardless of one's opinions on him, it is clear that Ahmed's political career has been marked by controversy and criminal activity.

Fought hard but failed to send Adityanath 'back to Gorakhpur': Akhilesh
Tumblr media
While the BJP threw a pantheon of star campaigners, Akhilesh Yadav's was virtually the lone face of his Samajwadi Party in the Uttar Pradesh elections. From distributing tickets to choosing allies, it was the SP president's one-man show. At 48, he is a year younger to Yogi Adityanath, the UP chief minister and the man he hoped to send back to Gorakhpur. That didn't happen and the BJP appeared set for another term in office. Yadav fought hard, but his party trailed well behind the BJP. Born in Saifai on July 1, 1973, Yadav entered politics in 2000, winning a Lok Sabha bypoll from Kannauj and is now the MP from Azamgarh.
He contested his debut assembly election this time, picking Karhal, a segment in his father's Mainpuri parliamentary constituency. ADVERTISING The SP president, who burnt his fingers by partnering with the Congress in the 2017 UP polls and had joined hands with Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party in last general election, this time chose to enter into an alliance with a string of small regional parties. Briefly, he outmanoeuvred the BJP by inducting ministers Swami Pradesh Maurya, Dara Singh Chauhan and Dharam Singh Saini in an attempt to get the Other Backward Classes (OBC) on his side.

Uttar Pradesh election is more like an Indian Movie with a lot of spices. Congress , SP and BJP are the leading parties contesting in this year's elections. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s victory will make him a contender for the Prime Minister Post, so this election is crucial for the CM who is also a saint from the Nath sect. There was speculation that CM Yogi would contest elections from Mathura or Ayodhya but finally BJP  decided to field him from the Gorakhpur (Urban) Assembly segment.
Tumblr media
According to locals  CM Adityanath is contesting  from Gorakhpur as people whose houses and shops were demolished here due to infrastructure projects in the wake of the construction of the temple were opposing him. Gorakhpur is a favorable seat for him .

He is always considered as a firebrand hindutva leader who is vocal about his Hindu sentiments too. In his recent tweet  , he  slammed SP leader Akhilesh Yadav on his ‘Jinnah' comment and said, "Those who do not think Pakistan is an enemy, Jinnah seems to be a friend. What can be said about his education and vision? They call themselves socialists, but the truth is that 'gun culture' runs in their veins."
Even though the opposition is trying its best to defeat Yogi with their Manifesto and promises but he still remains a popular choice for the voters
The voters of Uttar Pradesh  witnessed many  violent incidents in the past few years . Most of the atrocities have happened on the Dalits, laborers and farmers in the Yogi ruled government.
The 2015 Dadri lynching  in which a mob of villagers attacked the home of 52-year-old Mohammed Akhlaq, killing him, for suspicion of slaughtering a cow. 2018 Bulandshehar mob violence .  Bulandshahr violence of 2018 in which a policeman was killed, the prime accused Yogesh Raj, has won the Uttar Pradesh panchayat election. In the recent  2021 Lakhimpur Kheri incident,  Union Minister of State Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra and the 12 other accused in the violence. Hindutva and religion is a close connection with Yogi Adityanath being the head of Gorakhpur temple.
When CM was  asked this question, he said Hinduphobia is conspiracy; India is secular because Hindus are in majority; everyone in UP is safe because Hindus are in majority; Hindu is not a caste, creed or religion; it's cultural identity:
Another emerging leader from the Dalit /Lower Caste society is Dalit-Bahujan rights activist Chandra shekar Azad, he also shares his name with Freedom Fighter Chandra shekahar Azad. He was also featured in time magazine in its annual list of 100 emerging leaders shaping the future. He can surely shape the future because of his will to represent the Dalit community. Mayawati who used to represent Dalit in Uttar Pradesh is not in active politics. She is not even contesting elections this year.
Chandra Shekar Azad who formed Azad Samaj party is also in news for his decision to contest elections from Gorakhpur.
Azad Samaj Party chief said he was ready for head-to-head constituency fight with CM Adityanath .His seat share with Akhilesh Yadav fell through but there are chances for an alliance with Congress.
Yogi Adityanath always had support from Hindu community and Saints,Recently Swami Avimukteshwaranand was in news for his apparent reference to CM Adityanath, in his reply to a query on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's status as a saint and the mahant of Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur said that it is only possible in Islamic Khilafat system where religious head is also the king.
He said that a  saint cannot be a chief minister as after taking the oath of secularism as a constitutional dignitary, he cannot stay "religious", a prominent seer said here on Monday, in an apparent reference to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Many also blamed that congress leaders are joining BJP to get a party ticket. More than 12 people from congress have joined which includes some popular faces and ministers. Even SP leader Mulayam singh yadav’s daughter in law , Aparna Yadav also joined BJP. Talking to the media Yogi said ‘no one comes to BJP on the promise of a ticket. BJP is a political party, not a family-based Party. Everyone who comes to BJP is influenced by the Party's ideology’ .
Congress itself doesn't know what it wants, they don't have a CM face. Recently Priyanka Gandhi vadra casually asked, ``Do you see any other CM in UP other than me ? These casual statements are not suitable for matured politicians. They are not clear about what issues they want to fight on. Congress was also blamed for dynasty politics.  However BJP’s home-grown  Swami Prasad Maurya joined SP has shaken up the caste-based political narrative in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, When he was in BJP his son and daughter were also given tickets from the same BJP party which denies Dynasty politics.
SP has attempted a grand alliance against BJP in 2019 as well but did not succeed. The election results will be adventurous in Uttar Pradesh this year, one has to wait and watch.

BSP-BJP alliance not possible, ideologies opposite: Mayawati
Tumblr media
LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati asserted on Monday that her party would never enter into an alliance with the BJP in the assembly or the Lok Sabha elections, highlighting that the ideology of the two parties were “opposite”. Her clarification came amid speculation over her last week’s statement that the BSP would vote for the BJP or any other party’s candidate to ensure defeat of the Samajwadi Party contenders in future elections, including those of the Uttar Pradesh legislative council and the Rajya Sabha. Mayawati alleged that the SP and the Congress were misusing her recent statement so that the Muslim community distances itself from the BSP. “The alliance of the BJP with the BSP is not possible in any polls in the future. The BSP cannot contest with the communal party,” she said in a media briefing. “Our ideology is of ‘sarvajan sarva dharma hitay’ (benefit of everyone and all religions)’ and is opposite to the BJP’s ideology,” she said. “The BSP cannot enter into an alliance with those having communal, casteist and capitalist ideology.” Mayawati said she would rather take ‘sanyas’ (retirement) from politics than ally with such parties. “I will fight on all fronts with the communal, casteist and capitalist forces, and not going to bow before anyone,” she added. The BSP leader reiterated that her party would ensure the defeat of the SP’s second candidate in future Uttar Pradesh legislative council polls. “Our party will support the candidate of any party, including the BJP, which is strong to defeat the second candidate of the SP,” she said. “I stand by my earlier statement, which is misused by the SP and the Congress for political gains so that the Muslim community distances itself from the party.” She accused the SP and the Congress of trying to ensure that Muslims did not vote for the BSP in the bypolls to seven assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, adding that they would not be successful in this endeavour. “Everyone knows that the BSP is party of an ideology and movement, and I never compromised it even when I formed the government with the BJP,” Mayawati said, adding that she had “sacrificed” her government but never harmed the Muslim community. “There was no Hindu-Muslim riots in my regime. History is witness to it. Under the SP and the Congress governments, there were many Hindu-Muslim riots,” she said. Mayawati underscored that she gave adequate representation to the Muslims when her party was in power, as she also pointed out that the party had given tickets to two candidates from the community in the by-elections.
