Minnesota Twins-Seattle Mariners Series Preview
6.28.24-Bailey Ober RHP (7-4) 4.50 ERA Vs. Logan Gilbert RHP (5-4) 2.71 ERA
6.29.24-Pablo Lopez RHP (7-6) 5.11 ERA Vs. Bryce Miller RHP (6-6) 3.90 ERA
6.30.24-Joe Ryan RHP (5-5) 3.31 ERA Vs. TBA
-The Twins At A Glance- The Twins took two of three from the Diamondbacks in the desert. The bats broke out with twenty-one runs in the past two games. The team heads up to Seattle to finish off this long road trip. The Twins got a break when Carlos Correa's wrist showed it wasn't broken. Correa left the game very quickly after taking a pitch off his wrist. He said he would be in the lineup for Friday's game. Correa has led the team with nineteen RBI this month. Royce Lewis played through an illness in Oakland and has been slumping since that time. Justin Topa is expected to throw a bullpen session next week and Brock Stewart is scheduled to throw his third bullpen session on Saturday. Josh Staumont hasn't allowed a run in seventeen innings of work with the Twins. The Twins bullpen has a 3.75 ERA this month, which is 13th best in baseball.
-The Mariners At A Glance- The Mariners have been a streaky team lately. They won eight of nine games before losing six of their past eight games. They are one of the biggest surprises in baseball and are 4.5 games ahead of the Astros for first in the American League West. Luke Raley and Mitch Garver have been hot in June with five homers each. Cal Raleigh has knocked in eighteen in June despite a .197 batting average. The M's are averaging 4.5 runs per game this month. Seattle has the third-best starting staff with a 3.41 ERA. The Twins will see Logan Gilbert, who has been very good with a 2.71 ERA. They'll miss Luis Castillo and George Kirby. The bullpen is in the middle of the pack with a 3.88 ERA. Andres Munoz has struck out forty-three men in thirty-two innings of work. Tayler Saucedo has been good from the left side. Trent Thornton and Ryne Stanek help set-up Munoz from the right side.
-What To Watch For- The Twins took three of four from the Mariners at Target Field in May. The two sides split a four-game series at Safeco Field last July. The Twins seem to always go to Seattle in June or July over the past few years. Bailey Ober is (2-0) with a 4.05 ERA in four starts against the M's. Mitch Haniger has two career homers off Ober. Logan Gilbert is (2-1) with a 4.95 ERA in four starts against the Twins. Pablo Lopez is (1-1) with a 2.45 ERA in three starts versus the Mariners. Bryce Miller gave up six runs over 5 2/3 innings in his lone start against the Twins. Joe Ryan is (0-3) with a 7.30 ERA against Seattle. The Twins get to see how they stack up against a solid Mariners team.

Victorian Pride Centre Launches LGBTIQA+ Visual Arts Program
A Landmark Year for the Victorian Pride Centre Launching LGBTIQA+ Visual Arts Program for 2024
In a groundbreaking move for LGBTIQA+ culture, the Victorian Pride Centre is thrilled to unveil its 2024 Visual Arts Program.
This year-long initiative promises a rich tapestry of exhibitions at the Pride Gallery, spotlighting the artistic genius of LGBTIQA+ artists, photographers, designers, and community organisations. Their work, embodying unique perspectives and creative vigour, will be on display, offering visitors a glimpse into the vibrant diversity of queer art.
“The 2024 program presents a diverse selection of queer contemporary art practice and endeavours that consider identity, place, community, self-determination, and queer history. The VPC is proud to support and champion our creatives with its annual calendar of exhibitions and accompanying programs,” Ange Bailey, Visual Arts Program Curator and Coordinator.
Celebrating Diversity through Art
Ange Bailey, the program’s curator, expresses the centre’s commitment to showcasing a wide array of queer contemporary art. “Our 2024 lineup explores themes of identity, community, and queer history, affirming our dedication to supporting LGBTIQA+ creatives,” Bailey notes. This program is not just an exhibition but a declaration of the centre’s pride in its community’s artistic achievements.
Highlights of the 2024 Visual Arts Program
Queer Latinx: Migrating Down Under
Queer Latinx: Migrating Down Under
January 12 – March 4 | Jose-Octavio Ortiz and Arun Ernesto Munoz
This photographic project, curated by Jose-Octavio Ortiz and Arun Ernesto Munoz, explores the layers of identity and intersectionality experienced by LGBTIQ+ Latinx people living in Australia. These photos allow community members to present themselves and represent their own lives and new realities as migrants.
male//chair
March 6 – April 28 | Garrie Maguire
This photographic exhibition by Melbourne visual content creator Garrie Maguire employs a simple setup: Each individual sits stripped of conventional gender or status signifiers upon a red kitchen chair. The camera serves as the audience, capturing the essence of each participant’s raw presentation. Through these images, Garrie hopes to provide the viewer with glimpses into interpretations of maleness that occupy this city.
The Air is Electric
1 May – 30 June | David McDiamird
Having experienced the joy of belonging to an identifiable gay community in Sydney and buoyed by the potential that could be unleashed by the gay community, David wanted to experience gay life, community, and art in the USA. During his travels in the United States, David McDiarmid was constantly documenting his experiences in correspondence and photographs. Through these, we can start to understand the excitement of the liberatory activism and emergent gay community of the late 1970s – ‘the air was electric’ with new possibilities and freedom. An Australian Queer Archives exhibition.
Seen/Scene
1 May – 30 June | A tilde exhibition by BHO VÉ
tilde: an approximation, an in-between-ness, beyond absolutes and rigidity. The essence of the indefinable nature of gender. Established in 2014, tilde is a community-led, international film festival based in Melbourne and one of only a handful of trans and gender diverse (TGD) film festivals in the world. SEEN/SCENE is a celebration of TGD people, their work in film and screen, amplification of their voices and experiences, and their dreams of a future where trans lives matter.
Muru-ba
3 July – 21 July | First Nations LGBTIQA+ Trailblazers
Muru-ba showcases the faces and stories of First Nations LGBTQIA+ Elders involved with LGBTQIA+ rights and First Nations community movements since the 1970s from across Australia. Muru-ba is a Dharug word gifted to the project by Aunty Julie Jones, which means trailblazer or pathmaker. The exhibition showcases portraits taken in February 2023 by renowned Sydney-based photographer Joseph Mayers (Yorta Yorta), accompanied by newly recorded interviews by Daniel Browning (Bundjalung / Kullilli), ABC journalist and radio broadcaster.
Persona
23 July – 15 September | Camila Paz Salgardo Orellana
Persona emphasises our common humanity, laying the foundation for bridges of understanding. Each artwork visually testifies to the enriching diversity of our world, encouraging appreciation for variety. Camilla advocates for a society where individuals find their place, respecting choices and weaving destinies authentically. The space acknowledges the struggles of those facing discrimination, raising its voice in solidarity. This exhibition showcases humanity’s richness, urging a more compassionate world where diversity and tolerance prevail—a poignant reminder that, above all, we share the vital title of being human.

TransTrans:  Transnational Trans* Histories
19 September – 3 November| Curated by Birgit Lang and Katie Sutton
Furthermore, TransTrans explores a series of transnational networks comprising trans individuals who played pivotal roles in shaping early gender-diverse histories from the 1900s to the 1960s.
It delves into the interactions among German and European, North American, and Australian trans communities, as well as the collaboration with scientific researchers on gender diversity. These researchers include those associated with institutions such as Magnus Hirschfeld’s Institute for Sexual Science in Berlin and communities like the queer subcultures of Weimar Germany. Additionally, it examines photographs from the collection of Carla Erskine, a US-based trans* activist who established an intimate trans support network in the 1950s USA.
You Looking at Me, Looking at You
6 November – 8 January 2025 | Emma Armstrong-Porter
Memories of intimate shared experiences taken in moments of life, love and loss. These unrefined portraits by artist and educator Emma Armstrong Porter are technically inconsistent because they were shot at a decisive moment, guided by emotion, not photographic convention. Additionally, these photos capture moments that lean towards the vernacular but hold a striking private emotion within the returned gaze. Moments veiled through mirrors and glass and immortalised in silver.
Our
6 November – 8 January 2025 | David Arlo
David Arlo, a sculptor and video artist, mixes domestic crafts with imagery from the familial, queer, and grotesque. His installations and films aim to draw viewers in with comfort and nostalgia. Yet, he disrupts this atmosphere with sudden, disturbing cues. He seeks to foster vulnerability and honesty in his art, creating a bond that encourages new ways of thinking.
About the Victorian Pride Centre
Australia’s pioneering hub for LGBTIQ+ communities, the Victorian Pride Centre, stands as a beacon of connection, support, and empowerment. It houses essential organizations, healthcare services, and venues for social engagement, fostering a resilient and thriving LGBTIQ+ community.
According to the Victorian Pride Centre, this program marks a significant moment for the wider LGBTIQA+ community. Promising a year filled with artistic exploration, cultural dialogue, and celebration of diversity.

So You Think You Can Dance season 16 finale!
Nice fun opening number. Nice to see Eddie tapping and the Sosa siblings dancing together. They waited all season to do the walkout??? I love the walkout and wish they did it every week.
The name’s Sandoval. Domino Sandoval. Our very own D-trip has gone all out with a tux.
A montage of Laurieanne’s best lines, plus some memeworthy reactions from Dominic and Mary.
Laurieanne pick #1: Bailey and Mariah’s biker number. I actually don’t remember much about this except for the dirt buggy on stage. But it makes sense that Laurieanne picked this.
Nigel pick #1: Madison and Ezra’s sexy jazz with the chair.
Montage of Dominic being emotional.
Dominic pick #1: Sophie and Eddie’s party girl gone dark number.
Mariah’s favourite: her Slide number with Bailey.
Mary pick #1: Gino and Stephanie’s hive. I still can’t believe they sent Stephanie home after this.
Encore - Sign of the Times group number with the top 10. Powerful Travis Wall dance.
Dom pick #2: Anna and Benjamin’s broadway number. I’m surprised this was put forth by Dom instead of Nigel, but I knew we’d be seeing it again.
Mary pick #2: Gino and Comfort’s sarcophagus hip-hop. Man, I had forgotten about this dance. How? It was great then and great still.
Nigel invited Phoebe, the jazz dancer with down syndrome to perform. She has a blast and can play the audience for sure.
Sophie’s favourite: her contemporary with Gino by KC Monnie about coming out. Good choice, it’s up there in my favourites
Top 10 + Lauren and Cyrus hip-hop new number for the tour. Looks like a more glammed up and sauced up Rocky Horror.
Throwback to Dominic’s audition and a brunette Mary. Hahaha.
Dom pick #3: Madison, Mariah and Sophie’s remix rain number. This is an odd one. I wouldn’t have expected it.
Mary pick #3: Bailey and Koine’s Mambo Italiano number.
Laurieann pick #2: Bailey, Gino and Ezra’s contemporary.
Gino’s favourite: “Trouble” with Sophie. Fantastic choice. When the music picked up, wow that was insane.
Bailey’s favourite: his black leather “Need You Tonight” jazz funk with Mariah. It was a breakthrough for him.
Ok now results time. Bailey and Mariah had a really fast clothes change.
4th: Sophie. Not too surprised there. I must admit I didn’t mind her as much as I thought I would on the live shows. She is good in her style and has very smooth transitions.
Nigel pick #2: Bailey and Gino’s broadway. He already said he was picking this last week so. Probably one of my top top faves.
Nigel says next season maybe they’ll do the top 20 again. YES PLEASE.
Laurieann pick #3: Ezra and Gaby’s contemporary.
More results. 2nd and 3rd place was really close according to Cat.
3rd place: Gino. Huh, I got this one wrong. I guess his more guarded personality made it harder to win people over. Also I think that if he hadn’t been on dance moms people might have been more taken by him, because his talent is outstanding.
And the winner of So You Think You Can Dance season 16 is.........
BAILEY!!!!!!!!
Congrats as well to Mariah in second place. Everyone comes on stage to huddle the two smallest members of the top 10. Cute.
I’m so happy for Bailey. He has a great attitude and puts a 120% into everything.
So is Bailey gonna get his car and license and take Mariah out now? Haha

Mariners Rally Late To Beat Twins.
Mariners 10 Twins 6 W-Stanek (1-0) L-Alcala (1-1)
The Minnesota Twins got back to their winning ways with a low-scoring victory over the Mariners last night. The team returned to action for Game 2 tonight. The Mariners were ready early as Mitch Haniger belted a Bailey Ober fastball out to left for a solo homer in the second. Seattle added on when Luis Urias was drilled in the shoulder by a pitch and Dylan Moore doubled him home. This put the Mariners up by two after two innings of play. The Twins would find some offense in the third as Jose Miranda singled and Eddie Julien walked. Trevor Larnach lined a run-scoring single to right to put the Twins on the board. Ryan Jeffers followed and crushed an Emerson Hancock change-up out to left for a three-run homer. Minnesota took a 4-2 lead after three innings of play. Bailey Ober finished off five solid innings and the Mariners eventually got to work against the Twins bullpen in the seventh. They quickly loaded up the bases and Cal Raleigh smoked a pinch-hit Steven Okert slider out to left for a grand slam The Twins answered in the bottom of the seventh as Jose Mirando led-off with a double to right and Kyle Farmer doubled him home. The Twins pulled within a run going into the eighth inning. The Twins would rally again in the eighth with a Max Kepler lead-off double to center. Austin Martin hit a slow roller to Ty France for a single and Tayler Saucedo fall on the first base bag. Max Kepler scored on the play to even the game at six. Dylan Moore opened the ninth with a lead-off triple and Cal Raleigh walked. Josh Rojas lined a run-scoring single to center to put the Mariners back on top. Julio Rodriguez kept the chain moving with a base hit to left. Mitch Haniger hit a sac fly to right to double the Seattle lead and a wild pitch plated another run. The Mariners put up four runs total in the ninth and Andres Munoz had a 1-2-3 ninth as Seattle picked up the win tonight.
-Final Thoughts- Bailey Ober was pretty good tonight. He went five innings and allowed two runs on three hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. Cole Sands had a 1-2-3 sixth and Jay Jackson gave up three runs and retired a batter. Steven Okert gave up the grand slam to Cal Raleigh in the seventh. Jorge Alcala had a scoreless eighth before giving up four runs in the ninth. Ryan Jeffers, Max Kepler, and Jose Miranda had two hits each tonight. The Twins hit 4-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Tomorrow, George Kirby faces Chris Paddack in Game 3.

Just a bunch of half-naked swing cats hanging out in the vocal booth, nothing to see here...
Generally speaking in UK tours, the swing costumes are a more generic version of the kinds of roles a person covers. Babygriz and chorus Deut are used as swing costumes, and the other swings are usually just mix-and-matching wigs and unitards from different characters, with less distinctive makeup. (Victor, Electra, and/or George are sometimes swings too, with their own unique designs.)
In this photo they’ve conveniently arranged themselves from ‘kitten/dance-heavy/acrobatic’ in the middle, moving outward through ‘adult/principal’ roles, to ‘older/most vocal’ at the back.
This is from the 2008 UK tour, hence the rare appearance of Daymon Montaigne-Jones (the Most Naked one) as a swing instead of Tumblebrutus/Bill Bailey, which was a role he played for most of his Cats career. He’s wearing a Bill Bailey unitard and a Carbuckety wig, and his makeup doesn’t have the eye patch of either boy.
Similarly, Pepe Munoz behind him is wearing a costume that’s a blend of Alonzo, Munkustrap/Victor, and Admetus: Alonzo wig, Admetus unitard, symmetrical unremarkable makeup on a grey base instead of Alonzo’s stark black and white. (And, for some reason, an arm warmer. While topless. Pepe why.) He covered Admetus, Alonzo, and Tugger.
Behind him is, presumably, Barry Haywood, who covered Deut and Gus/Bustopher: he’s wearing Deuteronomy’s chorus outfit.
Emily Anderson is the woman in the front beside Daymon, wearing a Tantomile unitard and Jemima wig and makeup.
The two women must be Louise Perez (the other Jemima costume, covering principals like Deme, Bomba, and Teazer) and Laura Darkins (Babygriz costume, covering Jenny, Jelly, and Griz).
