…and the story began: my very first solo travel. Slow travel, letting myself choose and decide without judging. 16:35 and I still don’t know where I’m going— or going to do. Previously I got the fucking spoiler but that’s fine. I will do the slow travel.

Bali always has the special place in my heart. The unexceptional one is in 2019; I went there thrice. This year, I was dragged to this beautiful island again. In the taxi, in front of Galeria I saw the words “Welcome back! We’ve missed you!” Such a heart warming shoutout.

Tribal Hostel, Mengwi

A little bit surprise, when the hostel is not suitable for the woman with a suitcase. Unlike Mexico City Hostel, this place does not have any locker room, so I felt a little bit insecure. Although the guy in the front bed is fucking hot and handsome (I bet he’s a teenager), but I felt insecure towards him. Will it be safe to leave my stuff in this hostel? However, this hostel is super clean, and the common space is very comfortable.

I started the day by meditating— after Nana called. Manifesting that I am love, I am the light, embracing the calmness, and I believe no matter happen today, I will appreciate myself.

Today, I have less than 3 hours to decide should I move to another hostel, and around fifteen hours to decide how to witness equinox sunrise. I decided the fucking last minutes;

To extend the stay in Tribal in order to get to know the hot guy. Eventually the bed is not available.

Bailing mount Batur trip on Equinox. I decided to see the sunrise at Sanur Beach tomorrow. Wish the weather was nice. 

The second one was the most weird one. I had a strong urge, an irresistible prejudice telling me: no, please don’t go to mount Batur tonight. Is it about something bad that will happen to me?

Anyway, I moved to Sense Sunrise Seminyak, the hotel recommended by Nana. For late lunch I had salmon crunch sushi at black sushi. The portion was pretty much big, thus for 40+ rupiah, it is cheap. I walked along the way to my initial destination; tempo gelato. Along the small alley, the weather is hot and it was stifling heat. I felt so fatigue so I stopped at expo art Gallery & Coffee to take a breath and have flat white for my afternoon coffee.

A small space full with anachronistic stuffs; gramophone, old TV, old books, artworks, a lot of classic board game. Beautiful, but sadly there’s no air conditioner inside. The cafe was owned by an Australian, but the owner wasn’t there so I had the conversation with the barista, a kid from Singaraja. Definitely, fun afternoon. 

The conversation flows until it was nearly 6 PM. I eventually decided to see the sunset at Potatohead.

Getting in, there is an installation about waste awareness and how Potatohead process it. Moved in to the beach club, I did not buy anything hehehe, because the beach belongs to all of us. I enjoyed the beach and head back to hotel at seven.

I had Domino’s tuna fusilli pasta ordered online. When I took it, I was in the same elevator with two Egypt guys. From the elevator’s button that did not work, we had a conversation. “Where are you guys come from?” Basic. Then, one of them recommend mt. Sinai as travel destination while in Egypt.

So yeah, this is 23.59 PM one minutes before the day change, and I had a big fight with one of my friends. Happy birthday to me. For the next 15 minutes. Wish I could watch the sunrise Equinox. I love me.  

Good Friday, 23 September 2022: Best day in 2022

Sanur - Ubud

00.03 AM I received an email.  Indeed, it’s from him; that’s the why my intuition told me to bail the hiking trip in Batur. The answer is him. We need to see each other, and the equinox is the best timing to convey the love, and the surrender. Then, I replied his email by the chat. I bet, he was surprised. He asked a permission to call me, but I refused and asked him to see each other instead. I was surprised by myself But I was sure, the timing is right.

In spite of the cloudy whether, I took a ride to the east to Sanur beach. I gave him my live location. Along the night he can’t sleep; I will not denied I was wondering was he think about me?

I walked alone along the shore, lead me to the best sitting place watching the golden magical equinox sunrise. I did the love meditation, affirming myself “I am the love, the light.” And I’m so ready to spread it to everyone, including him.

Then, he came to sit next to me. He asked me how am I, and I asked him back. We shared what we had experienced and updated each others.

After a lot of conversation, I asked him one more time “How are you, really?” He was sad. I could see the energy. He’s so sad, and his answer was “…I don’t know.” That time I wanted to hug him, and told him that he’ll be fine. But I didn’t and I shouldn’t. 

Due to the mad waves, we decided to move for breakfast. We had breakfast at our usual place, within the casual conversation, I felt like we’re just like we’re used to be; a best friend. I told him that I am not like his first ex; who can be friended with him. I need a space, and as I told him before, I am on my way to be fully in love with myself so that I can spread love to everyone.

After that he rode me to a random cafe (Sala Bistro) I choose close to Santrian Art Gallery. I need to be in a cafe in order to join my English class. The cafe actually nice, but there’s no electricity plug inside the cafe, so I choose the porch table having a chamomile tea. Worse, the wifi was in trouble :)

After an hour I decided to move to Santrian Art Gallery. The Santrian Villa was so beautiful, so amazing. But the Gallery was not really big, they were showcasing “Pijar Berpendar” exhibition.

Catching the time, I went back to the hotel to pack my luggage. In more or less an hour Nana will pick me up to drive to Ubud. We continued to have lunch at Mazzini, a nice birthday lunch! There is already a birthday decoration, Nana said it was not from her, well, then God is good.

After that we visited Nana’s new house, to drop some of her stuffs. Then, we continued our way to Ubud. Nana’s husband drop us off to Champlung Sari. The room was so spacious, clean and there is a terrace in front of the room. Such a best deal with the price of   300k rupiah. At dawn, Nana ordered spa service and she said that it’s her gift to me.

After that we talked about my experience in the golden space and her experience in psychiatrist. Then, we’re looking for a dinner, every place close; from Kedaton to Pison. We finally had dinner at Monkey Legend; a small yet warm restaurant close to L’Oseteria Pizza e Cucina. The venue was good, but not the food; I ordered green tea and Chicken Parmigiana Pasta. The pasta sauce made of artificial sauce, but at least the hot green tea close the night perfectly.

I close the end of my birthday by writing as possible as I can, then I fell asleep. Fast. Fatigue but eventually happy to spend the night with loved ones; my kindhearted ex and my everlasting sister with no blood bond.

Ubud

Woke up early in the morning I saw those fat monkey in front of my room, then staring at the sky, thinking “no, I cannot go to Campuhan today. The sky is too cloudy.” Then, I was right. It’s a heavy rain on a beautiful morning late. I was wondering where can I do today and where can I stay?

Since I am not really good at browsing, I decide to take a walk to have breakfast at Kakiang Bakery and hopefully can find somewhere to be my next stay. Partially, I did a “phone a friend.” A morning stroll in Ubud after the rain is the most magical thing in the world.

After have a croissant, I take the danish chocolate away. I had a nice bath up me time and prepare myself to check out. After checking out, and drop my luggage in the receptionist. I went to Ubud Vegan Festival and visited the Mansion Art Gallery. I felt like I did not want to buy anything there so I found a nice spot to write and enjoy the heatstroke noon.

At 2 PM I returned to the hotel to take my luggage and walk to my next stay. I swore I did not expect anything at all, beating the heat and the weight I keep walking 500 km to the  stay.

It’s a smart hotel so there’s no key, no receptionist and my room was in the second floor. After the stair I could see my room door and a couple of man was sitting in the small balcony; one is a foreigner another is a local guy. I smiled— maybe. Then, I pressed my key pass and password to my room door. The local asked me a chit chat questions and I asked him back whether he’s the housekeeper in this smart hotel, he said yes. Somehow I felt like the foreigner guy was watching me, so I asked him a basic question “where are you from” and the spark began. Beautiful.

I felt so fatigue. So I spend a lot of time in my room, I decided to take away something hoping to see this guy again, but no the balcony’s empty. I bought noodle from a small restaurant call “meat mie” which is pretty much cheap for ubud price and dominated by locals. I urged myself to move away from the room to wander the afternoon around ubud; I think I will make it to Puri Lukisan. Along the way, I saw a board sign of Legong ticket. So I bought the ticket IDR 100k, that amount is the only money I bring.

I spend the afternoon at Puri Lukisan, until it closed. Beautiful museum consisting local artworks mostly from Mahabarata epos. After that, I went to Ubud Palace to get the best seat. Eventually it’s not really that crowded ya. So I think I should have spend time at Sbux, but I chose no regret. The Legong performance was worth the price especially the Pendet dance, I still remember every move of the dance.

The most stupid thing happen; I did not realise that my flight was actually tonight :) but all I did was just laughing. Whatever will be will be. I wanted to enjoy my Legong show. I came to ubud for this magical night, so catching flight is none in my plan. I then, purchased new ticket for tomorrow’s noon flight.

Continuing the show, the weather was not so okay, so there was a light rain during the show. When Niway came, it was a pretty much heavy rain. With limited option to eat, we have supper at Pison Brasserie. The aglio e olio is not that good, but a little bit better than in Monkey Legend. Also there’s a jazz music in front of our table.

I arrived at hotel late. My initial plan was; having a hot shower, pack my bag, sleep, and wake up at dawn to stroll at Campuhan. If I can make it I will have breakfast at little talks. Then I order grab to the airport. What a nice me time. But universe, didn’t want that happen.

I asked the house keeper, is there any bus to take me to the airport. From the questioned, I was introduced to another local man, a friend— or a stuff of the foreigner man I saw priorly. I did know where it was started; we just had the conversation. It was fun, and he sees me the way my exes see me. My heart was pounding with excitement. He says he wanna marry me.

La bamba song played one more time in the air. We both sang that song and continued with conversation. He initiated to end the conversation and we back to each of our room. He chatted me; asked me to sleep with him, no sex etc. But I sensed a dishonestly. I said to him a kiss will be fine. I knocked his room and he kissed me; a seductive French kiss. I know he wanted to fuck me. So I locked myself in my room after that. It won’t be just a casual cuddle, I bet his dick is already erected when he kissed me.

Ubud - Ngurah Rai

I woke up at down but my body was too exhausted and I was so drowsy. How can people have a lot energy; sleep late, wake up early, walk miles, have fun. Last night I did not have time to pack my luggage; I was too tired and sleepy. So, I packed my luggage in the morning. The plan of stroll in Campuhan was replaced with something more incredible; a breakfast date.

I knocked his room and we kissed (again), this time was a normal kiss. A beautiful and tender one. His room is super tidy. He’s a very perfectionist man, I bet. He took some cash from his safety box. He wore a sexy black shirt and a grey boxer. Smells so fresh and from the kiss we had he really brushed his teeth.

“I like your dress, you dress like a princess.” Well, it’s been a long time. Then, we walked to his favourite restaurant, which he doesn’t even know the name. We walked like a regular tourist, I got the feeling that I want to feel for a long time. Walking side by side with a handsome man. I knew I already feel content with myself. I told myself that I am enough and no wonder I attracted people with the same vibe.

We arrived in the restaurant, and the waiters are so nice to him said that “thank you for coming back” or something. I ordered egg Benedict he ordered burritos. We had that beautiful conversation talking about his current situation, asking my favorite color, telling me about the tattoo and made an effort finding me a drive to airport.

“You have beautiful eyes.” He said, gemini typical. “So you are, are they green?”

He has a couple of beautiful eyes. Then I saw a family; mom, dad and two kids, sat not far from us, I was wondering “babe, could they be us someday?” My heart pounding again.

Fun fact: we both was born on 23, and the cafe name is 23. There’s no coincident in this world. I believe that morning was belongs to me. A perfect morning to have a nice meal, beautiful conversation accompanied by a guy who madly adores me.

After breakfast, we back to the hotel to take my luggage. I asked him to holding hand, to make my morning super cute, sweeter than sugar. So here we are, walking having hands by hands. We took my stuffs, he brought my luggage and we’re heading to Ngurah Rai.

Along the way, the old me gradually returned; I’m panic of missing the flight again. Moreover, this new airline did not provide online check in. But he hold my hand, give his positive energy and we keep talking along the way. He made me smile and happy. I hate that we already arrived in airport. I had the idea to check in and left the luggage to him, eventually I had to grab my luggage back and farewelled him. We hugged, and guessed what he fucking kiss me again in the fucking public. I pulled myself away, and told him “we don’t kiss in public, it’s uncommon…” so yeah we just hugged. “Let me kiss your check,” like a good boy he gave his check to me, I kissed him tenderly. “You smelled so good,” he smiled to me. “Thank you.” I got in the airport, he’s still out there waived at me, smiling. Gosh! So beautiful!

Love comes on time and love leaves when it is the time too. My first solo trip in Bali gave me disclosure and clarity; narrowing the circle is not bad, when you felt hurt you’re not the one, solitude is not the only way to contemplate— surrounded by loved ones is a perfect time to contemplate; that you always have beautiful people around. Thank you 28, and welcome 29, let’s cheers for a more thrilling years!
