10 Ways to Style Your Women’s Sarong for Every Season
Tumblr media
A women’s sarong is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can own. Whether it's summer, winter, or somewhere in between, this elegant piece can be adapted to suit any occasion. Here are 10 creative ways to style your sarong all year round, ensuring you look chic and comfortable in every season.
1. Classic Beach Wrap for Summer
The quintessential way to style a sarong is as a beach wrap. Simply tie it around your waist to create an easy, breezy skirt for those warm summer days by the water. This effortless look is perfect for beach vacations or casual poolside lounging. Pair it with a simple bikini top, sunglasses, and sandals for a laid-back, sunny vibe.
2. Bandeau Dress for Tropical Getaways
Heading to a tropical destination? A women’s sarong can easily be transformed into a stunning bandeau dress. Fold your sarong in half, wrap it around your chest, and tie it at the back. This look gives you a strapless, flowy outfit ideal for beach walks or sunset dinners.
3. Layered as a Scarf in Spring
As the weather transitions in spring, your sarong can become a stylish scarf. Drape it loosely around your neck or wrap it tighter for added warmth during chilly mornings. Opt for bright floral patterns to match the vibrant energy of the season.
4. Chic Shawl for Cool Evenings
When you need a light layer to cover up on cool evenings, a sarong makes the perfect shawl. Drape it over your shoulders, and it instantly adds elegance to any outfit. This look works beautifully over a sleeveless dress or a casual top.
5. Sarong as a Skirt in Autumn
As the temperatures cool down, you can style your sarong as a wrap-around skirt over leggings or tights. This provides warmth while maintaining a trendy look. Pair it with a cozy sweater and boots for a chic, fall-inspired outfit.
6. Elegant Halter Dress for Night Outs
For evening occasions or nights out, a sarong can be transformed into a sophisticated halter dress. Wrap the sarong around your body, cross the ends behind your neck, and tie them at the front for a flattering silhouette. This elegant look is perfect for special events.
7. Boho Headscarf for a Free-Spirited Vibe
Add a touch of bohemian flair by using your sarong as a headscarf. Fold it and wrap it around your head, securing it at the back or to the side. This style protects your hair from the sun in summer or wind in fall while adding a fun, fashionable element to your outfit.
8. Layered Poncho for Winter Warmth
Believe it or not, you can wear your sarong even in winter! Fold your sarong in half and drape it over your shoulders like a poncho. Layer it over your winter coat or chunky sweater to stay warm while adding a pop of color to your winter wardrobe.
9. Sarong as a Belted Kimono
For a more structured look, you can style your sarong as a belted kimono. Drape it over your shoulders and tie a belt around your waist to give your outfit some shape. This look is perfect for both spring and fall, adding a touch of sophistication to casual outfits.
10. Sarong as a Picnic Blanket for All Seasons
Don’t forget that your sarong can double as a handy picnic blanket! Whether it’s a summer picnic in the park or an autumn afternoon with friends, your sarong is the perfect accessory for outdoor gatherings. Lay it out on the grass or wrap it around yourself when the weather cools.

Handloom Sarees Online: A Guide to the Best Handmade Dresses
Handloom sarees online have become a sought-after choice for those seeking authentic, handmade dresses crafted with exquisite artistry. These intricately woven garments are not just fashion statements, but embodiments of cultural heritage and tradition.
From vibrant hues to intricate patterns, handloom and handmade dresses offer a world of possibilities for style-conscious individuals seeking uniqueness and sustainability in their wardrobes.
Tumblr media
The Artistry of Handloom Weaving
Traditional weaving techniques and processes involved
Handloom weaving is an ancient textile production method that involves intricately interlacing two sets of yarns, the warp and the weft, without the use of electricity. This intricate process is carried out on wooden looms, like pit looms or handlooms, assembled in a specific order. Skilled artisans meticulously operate these looms vertically, picking one shaft at a time according to the design, using pedals.
Unique patterns, motifs, and designs found in handloom dresses
Handloom fabrics often feature regional or community-specific traditional patterns and designs. These can range from minutely woven geometric patterns to elaborate designs or ethnic or cultural emblems. Techniques like extra warp, weft figuring, and interlocking create intricate motifs like twisted branches, leaves, flowers, and more, establishing the fabric's distinct visual appeal.
Skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail are required
Handloom weaving demands the highest level of artistry, patience, and technical ability from the weavers. The complex weaving, dyeing, and stitching procedures require immense time, effort, and skill passed down through generations. Each handloom dress is a work of art, showcasing the weaver's expertise and making it a labor of love.
Choosing the Perfect Handloom Dress
Factors to consider - fabric, design, occasion, etc.
When choosing the perfect handloom dress, several factors come into play. The fabric is a crucial consideration, as handloom textiles offer a wide range of natural fibers like cotton, silk, and wool. Each fiber has its unique texture, breathability, and drape, making it suitable for different occasions and styles.
Tips for identifying authentic handloom fabrics
Identifying authentic handloom fabrics requires a keen eye for detail. Look for slight irregularities in the weave, variations in thread thickness, and occasional unevenness—markers of handcrafted textiles. The selvage edges may also feature tiny, evenly spaced holes or decorative patterns, distinguishing them from machine-made fabrics. Holding the fabric up to a light source can reveal uneven spacing between the threads.
Popular handloom dress styles and their characteristics
Handloom sarees are renowned for their intricate designs created in the weft direction, featuring regional motifs and patterns. Handloom kurtas and dresses often exhibit unique textures and subtle color variations from natural dyeing processes. Shawls and scarves showcase the artistry of skilled weavers through elaborate weaves and delicate embroidery. Each handloom dress style celebrates the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of its origin.
Embracing Sustainability with Handloom
The eco-friendly nature of handloom dresses
Handloom weaving is an inherently eco-friendly process, utilizing natural fibers and dyes with minimal environmental impact. The entire production process is labor-intensive, yet it is one of the most sustainable ways of producing clothing. Handlooms do not require electricity, reducing energy consumption and carbon footprints. The use of natural materials like cotton, silk, and wool ensures biodegradability, minimizing waste.
Supporting local artisans and communities
The handloom industry provides employment opportunities to rural artisans and weavers, particularly women, empowering them to earn a sustainable income. By supporting handloom products, you contribute to the economic growth and well-being of these communities, reducing poverty and bridging the rural-urban divide. The handloom sector preserves traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
Benefits of investing in quality handmade garments
Handloom garments are known for their durability and timeless appeal, promoting a circular fashion economy. Investing in quality handmade pieces reduces the need for frequent replacements, minimizing textile waste. These garments are often crafted with precise construction and attention to detail, ensuring longevity and exclusivity in style and design.
Conclusion
The beauty of handloom sarees online lies in their ability to seamlessly blend tradition with contemporary fashion. These intricately woven garments are not only a testament to the artistry and skill of the weavers but also a celebration of cultural heritage. By embracing handloom dresses, we contribute to the preservation of time-honored craftsmanship and support the livelihoods of local artisans.
As consumers become increasingly conscious of their fashion choices' environmental impact, handloom dresses emerge as a sustainable and ethical option. From the use of natural fibers to the minimal carbon footprint, these handmade garments offer a unique blend of style and sustainability. Investing in quality handloom pieces not only enhances personal style but also promotes a circular fashion economy that values longevity and reduces textile waste.
FAQs
1. What location is renowned for its handloom sarees? Banarasi Handloom Sarees, originating from Varanasi (formerly known as Banaras), are highly celebrated. They are known for their intricate craftsmanship, luxurious fabrics, and timeless elegance, symbolizing India's rich cultural heritage and artisanal excellence.
2. How can I identify a genuine handloom saree? To determine if a saree is a genuine handloom, closely inspect the fabric for any irregularities in texture, which are typical of handloom weaving. Additionally, look for unique weaving patterns and motifs, as well as intricate designs and handcrafted details that are not usually present in machine-made sarees.
3. Why are handloom sarees considered expensive? Handloom sarees are priced higher due to the labor-intensive process involved in creating each unique piece. Indian handloom weavers meticulously craft intricate designs and patterns that cannot be replicated by machines, making each saree a unique work of art.
4. Which saree is best suited for me? Choosing the right saree depends on your skin tone. For light skin, olive, light pink, royal blue, green, yellow, dark grey, and tan are flattering. Black and white are suitable for light skin with a warm undertone, while darker shades like blue, grey, brown, green, burgundy, and purple are ideal for light skin with a cool undertone.

How to Find the Right Christmas Gift Among Alpaca Clothing in 2023
Gift-giving for Christmas can be challenging. Most of us want to give something our loved ones will cherish and use for years. Not sure what to buy? Impress your recipients with women’s alpaca scarves and clothing that are made in Peru. These garments are soft, comfortable, and lightweight while ensuring sufficient warmth, even on the coldest days and nights.
 Choose alpaca clothing from Peru.
Peruvian alpaca wool is the most luxurious, and garments made out of this material are considered timeless and special, especially when handmade by skilled artisans. When sourced from reputable stores, one-of-a-kind and exclusive scarves, cardigans, sweaters, and other garments make excellent gifts, particularly those with designs inspired by Peruvian art and culture. It is also worth noting Peru’s many years of experience in animal husbandry and fiber processing, resulting in textile innovation in producing high-quality fibers from alpaca wool.
Finding the best Alpaca clothing for Christmas
The best way to find women’s alpaca scarves and clothing is to go online and find reliable stores. Here are tips to help you find one and purchase the right items.
 1. Source from a reputable business
Look for a reputable and established store carrying the best Peruvian brands, preferably those with a track record of careful manufacturing processes and offering top-quality natural alpaca fibers. The best stores also help poor Peruvian communities by supporting their livelihood and promoting eco-friendly, sustainable fashion.
 2. Explore the products
Top stores offer a wide range of products, such as alpaca wool cardigans, scarves, sweaters, and shawls. They also carry a good selection of throws, blankets, gloves, and headwear. Consider wool sweaters made in various knitting techniques that produce attractive designs, such as intarsia knitting and Jacquard. Only the most skilled artisans in Peru can create unique masterpieces with those techniques.
 3. Ensure authentic Peruvian alpaca wool
Buy women’s alpaca scarves and clothing only from a source that is proven to carry genuine Peruvian alpaca wool. That way, you know you’re getting hypoallergenic natural fibers on the products and the other benefits of the material, such as incredible softness, warmth, and longevity. Alpaca wool is also naturally wicking, won’t pill or mat, and won’t cause itching when worn.
 About The author:

Elain searches the woods for flowers and finds more than she ever expected. Sleeping Beauty Au
❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦ ❦
Elain left the cottage barefooted, the soft cushion of the grass comfortable and well known to her feet. The familiar and gratifying feeling of calm earth beneath her, steady and grounding, more than enough reason to forego any sort of shoes.
Roses, Feyre had chanted, the dreamy look in her sister’s eyes persisting ever since her chance encounter with a newcomer guard at the town square, the prettiest ones you can find, please?
Elain had not the courage to tell her younger sister that she had picked fresh flowers just the day before, funny-shaped pink blooms Elain found at the lip of the stream near the border.
So, she had picked her basket - the one Nesta had gifted her on her last birthday, handmade by her older sister herself; a beautiful, intricate thing done with the hard-earned love of the hardest Archeron - and left, a spring to her step and a tune brimming in her throat.
The woods, the townspeople said, were older than the village by unaccounted years, and therefore filled with deep, wondrous and dangerous magic.
Elain, as well as her sisters, was orphaned too soon. A wasting sickness that had scourged their village had taken away both of her parents, one after the other, leaving only a nearly of age Nesta, a doe-eyed Elain, and a tear-stained Feyre.
Many years had passed since, the nebulous, all-consuming pain of the absence of their parents soothed by time. Despite her grieving, it never escaped Elain’s thoughts how lucky she was to have such wonderful people in her life: her kind neighbors; the quaint, energized people of the village, who never missed a chance for celebration; the old grouch at the square who made wooden figures just as her father once had; Feyre’s laugh, her creativity and Nesta’s attentive strength.
The woods, magical and mysterious, were a source of peace in Elain’s little life, too. A balm made of soft sunlight, fresh, perfumed breeze, and the singing quietness of wildlife.
She walked, shawl hanging on her elbows to ward off the slightest of spring chills. Elain sang to her heart’s content, a lively lyric dancing on her tongue and bouncing on the leaves of the tallest of trees, her heart soaring with each note she presented to her loved woodland.
With Feyre’s wishes in mind, Elain followed a path towards a grove, the humidity at her destination perfect for the birth of deep pink roses which best complimented Feyre’s complexion.
She crossed the sturdy old bridge that allowed passage over the river, her cottage’s mill no longer audible from where she stood.
“Hello, Mister,” Elain greeted the white, wild bunny, its twitching mustache smelling the air twice before hurrying on fast jumps towards her, a cupped palm of berries awaiting the animal’s eager mouth, allowing her to scratch its head “You’re rather famished this morning, aren’t you?” she asked. The bunny agreed with what seemed like and affirmative ear twitch before her furry friend scampered away to a nearby bush.
Then, singing about poets and kings, Elain continued her path through the meandering trees, her basket filling with dark, juicy berries - a few of them already staining her lips red - and multicolored flowers.
A bold, red little bird landed on Elain’s extended finger and enchantingly sung with her. Its melodic chirping lacing and harmonizing to the girl’s sweet voice, their impromptu duet accompanied by the rustling leaves and the gurgling stream.
How wonderful Elain felt, surrounded by nature, connecting to the air around her as if it had birthed her itself, offering it her voice. Respectfully reaping the charming flora, she found on her way, breathing their scent, befriending the forest animals, and spinning on the tip of her toes on the soft soil.
As she stopped dancing, her skirts still swishing around her calves from the last of her twirls, Elain noticed a magnificent shrub of the blooms she had braved the woods for, jewel-bright pink petals shining under sunbeams, as if the tress had organized themselves to create a spot of light for such earthly beauty.
Right then, the strangest of things happened.
With her heart jumping to her throat, beating frenetically against her ribs, Elain noticed a beautiful horse. Saddled, with a gleaming chestnut coat, dark eyes downcast, calmly munching on the grass near its hooves.
It wasn’t unheard of, horses in the woods, wild or otherwise, they were not far from the main road, but that was not what made Elain’s skin prickle with alertness.
A well-taken care horse as such must have a rider nearby.
“Samson,” called a male voice “There’s not much left to go.” The horse shuffled his legs, huffing before turning its nose away, back onto the moss.
“There will be carrots,” the voice tried again, with a tone of simulated indifference.
Caught like a fish on a hook, the horse’s great neck snapped up, looking at its rider, as if expecting the vegetable all at once. Stoic as the pair of them seemed, Elain had the impression Samson was kindly spoiled.
Elain, who could hear the rich sound of the stranger’s voice, had not yet distinguished his form in the shade beyond the grove she entered, but following the stallion’s gaze she finally sighted him.
Oh, but what a beautiful man he was.
Stranger was tall and broad-shouldered, with an old, silvery scar marking the side of his face, slitting his brow and narrowly missing his eye - which seemed to be a disconcerting shade of brown. He had the most vibrant shade of red hair she has ever seen, dark like autumn leaves and silky like water.
He was the most beautiful human she has ever seen.
Stranger, however, had yet to notice her.
And as handsome as he was, Elain was clever enough to realize that a quick, silent escape was the safest option.
Slowly, she walked one step back.
The crunch of the branch beneath her foot echoed loudly, too loudly to be confounded by an innocuous wildlife sound.
Elain couldn't raise her eyes to look at him, attention glued to the sword holstered at his hip.
“Be not afraid, lady. I’ll take my leave in a moment,” Stranger said in a placating tone, palms deliberately upraised for her benefit.
The woods turned to music at the exact moment their eyes met.
A world-altering spark of recognition lighted in her mind.
A stranger in the woods, merry music, dancing fireflies, and singing birds, trees being led by the wind as if women in a ballroom, her vision spinning, and her body lighting up like fireworks. A hand on her waist, a choreography her body must have been made for performing, such ease it was to allow it to guide her away.
Dreams, she remembered, wonderful dreams which always kept her under her covers for a moment too long, always ending way too soon, leaving longing as a dent in her pillow.
Now he was right in front of her.
“I know you,” she whispered, words slipping through her lips like birds escaping a cage, her hands shaking.
He was dressed in well-made traveling clothes, dark pants, finely done knee-length boots she had only ever glanced upon whenever wealthier people crossed the town to check on their local businesses, but those deftly dressed gentlemen couldn’t have looked better than the man even with the priciest of fineries. Elain resisted the urge to press her hands to her cheeks, heated and pink from noticing Stranger only wore a thin, unruffled poet’s shirt, - his cape and hat using the nearby trees as hangers - its open laces revealing golden skin and wisps of red hair.
Elain had never felt self-conscious of her looks or clothes, the townspeople dressing similarly to her (even if Elain herself had one of the best sewing hands in their village). Her current outfit was a simple corset with boning made out of prepped hedgehog spikes, the plain fabric embellished with neat seams and picturesque figures Elain had stitched herself; a brown, light skirt - easy to wash and easier to hide soil stains - and, what now she deemed absurd due to the grime on her nails, no slippers.
“And I, you,” he answered as in a daze, hands falling limply at his sides.
“Do you hear it?” Elain made her voice firm, lifting he chin but with her knees slightly bent, ready to run.
“Yes, my lady,” he took a step, then two, until a stretch of his arm would land his hand on her shoulder.
But he didn’t move to touch her.
Elain swallowed, the breeze cooling her body, eyes downcast, legs now motionless and nearly failing her.
“Why won’t you let me see your eyes, my lady?” She couldn’t be sure, for she knew him not, but there was pleading in his tone.
“I’m afraid, my lord, that if I look at you, I’ll awake and leave this dream,” she whispered, surprised, but not fearful, of her words. “And you’ll fly away from my grasp,”
Suddenly shy of her newly found boldness, she turned her back to him.
“I’m-" She started, voice small.
“No, please.” Elain saw a shadow over her shoulder but wouldn’t dare to guess. “Forgive me for my requests, my lady, you need not give me anything, I-”
He sounded... embarrassed.
She found it endearing.
The song of the woods shifted to a village rhythm she knew well.
“Dance with me,” he called.
A gasp fell freely from her mouth, the ghost of a touch on her hand.
Slowly, she turned back to face him and realized her mistake.
His eyes were not brown, but a vibrant russet shade, complimenting his hair better. Elain had heard only the continent bred humans with the most varied and colorful bodies.
“I forgive you,” she mouthed, her throat no longer functional.
There were callouses on his palms if from holding reins or sword fighting, she couldn’t determine, but they were so gentle against her skin she barely put any mind to it.
A blast of sound surrounded them, as if the song recognized their meeting, rejoicing in their movements, magnifying their volume to ensconce the pair of them in a cloud of magic. Elain allowed her stranger to spin and lead her in the dance of her dreams.
She couldn’t help to laugh and smile and giggle as they swayed in impossibly rehearsed arrangements, his wide, carefree, delighted grin pouring sunshine into her chest.
Time turned to a growing bloom, following the natural, slow, unpreoccupied pace of life. A hundred dances thrummed with them while the small pointer of the square clock circled once.
At that time, the resounding, deep clang of the church’s bell chiming twelve times broke through the magic steering the couple.
Elain ceased her steps, the pang of reality downing on her face, awareness washing the enchanted fog in her mind.
She let go of Stranger’s hand, the melodies dimming to a quiet hum, tempting her as a distance siren song,
“I must go,” she told him, yet unable to move.
“So soon?” he asked earnestly, arms lovingly tightening around her waist, not caging, only a gentle embrace.
“Oh, please, I must have my leave. Your lordship certainly has somewhere to be. I don’t even know what to call you-“ she babbled in a rush.
Stranger pressed his nose to the sliver of skin above her neck line, as if he couldn’t help himself, as if she were a saint and he a devotee. Elain lost the breath in her lungs, head lulling back, her words cutting themselves short.
“It’s yours,” his lips brushed the slope of her neck, “My name, my heart, my soul. It’s all yours. I’m Luc-“
Hurriedly, Elain lifted his head and pressed her pointer and middle finger to his mouth, “You must not tell me your name,”
“I heard your voice,” he admitted, a portrait of hope in his face, gently grasping her wrist “I deviated from the road to look for the angel whose song I was lucky to listen. But the singing stopped, as it was never there in the first place,”
“The woods have a mind of their own” she whispered to herself, eyes roaming around as if searching.
“I found you once I let Samson rest for a moment,” he continued, uninterrupted, as though afraid she would vanish in a poof of light.
“Please, my lady. Can’t you see? One is never to deny a gift from the Gods,”
“Are you a believer, Stranger?”
“Now, I am,” he said, his gaze unfaltering, “Will you allow me to reveal my name to your Ladyship?”
“I’m no lady,” she said, taking her hand from the warmth of his, regretting it immediately, “I must have my leave,” How would she explain her tardiness to Nesta? Oh, how reckless she was acting.
“At least allow me to take you to your home, my lady,”
Elain knew deep in her gut as clearly as she knew the color of the sky and the name of her favorite flowers that he would never hurt her.
But her oldest sister warning echoed in her conscience, coiling its limbs around her, refraining her voice.
The universe, it seemed, understood her decision.
Samson let out a loud neigh, attracting her love’s attention for just long enough.
“I’ll see you in my dreams,” she promised as he turned around to watch his horse.
And ran away, deep into the woods.

Imagination and dreams can now be turned into reality! Pashmina Stole and Kashmiri pashmina Shawls that were once considered out of reach, have become a possibility now! There are many online stores claiming to ship and sell authentic Cashmere Pashmina to turn such dreams into reality!
Yes we know! This is exactly the point where we should clear a few facts about Pashmina:
1) Originality:  Firstly, we need to learn a simple fact – the word Cashmere and the word Pashmina refers to the same thing! The real wool we get from a peculiar type of Goat that is found in the valley of Kashmir only.  Yes! And when burnt, this wool smells like burnt hair. This is often done to check the authenticity of the pashmina wool.
2) Softness – A saying in Kashmir is popular from old times.it goes like this: The Softness of Pashmina will always be more than that of a heart of a woman! And yes, if it is not soft, it is not Pashmina! We are referring to the purest form of pashmina! Straight cur from the got and still waiting for the sewing!
3) The Perfect Mix: Most of the times, pashmina is mixed with other chemicals for the sake of getting the desired results. It could be the shiny texture or the strength of the thread, the modern day technology has enabled mankind to get the desired results.
4) The Authentic Fraud: Online Pashmina selling entities should be checked thoroughly before making the investment. Luckily, there are authentic platforms that sell the original product! The Authentic fraud at the cheapest price is the new tradition haunting those who dream of purchasing Pashmina Product! The deadline – If it is Cheap- It is not Cashmere pashmina!
5) The Trademark Pashmina: The popularity of Cashmere Pashmina has sometimes acted against the marketing of the end products! Confused? Check the latest pashmina introduced by Nepal! Chyngara Pashmina – is the typical pashmina manufactured by the wool of high altitude goats found only in the high Himalayan regions of Nepal. Shop Now

CHAPTER ONE: THE HUNTER / CHAPTER TWO: THE HUNTED / CHAPTER THREE: THE STARVED / CHAPTER FOUR: THE JAILBIRD / CHAPTER FIVE: THE POISONED / CHAPTER SIX: THE DESCENDANT / CHAPTER SEVEN: THE INFECTED / CHAPTER EIGHT: THE SICK
Tumblr media
Rays from an early summer sun nearly blinded her while she used her tiptoes to peer over the small balcony. Through the thorns and bristles of rose bushes she saw them.
Small ballet slippers tapped against the long dusty halls of the palace as she ran along, past guards, servants and all. The droids did nothing but turn and look at the blur of bright blue skirts passing them by. “Mother!” the princess wailed in excitement.
Through the bars of a cast Iron gate, Ino’s mother turned and smiled gently at her. She was being escorted by two human guards, their bodies shrouded from head to toe in  muted green and lilac, the colors of Balthar’s family. Ino could not wear such colors until after her wedding night. They were reserved for soldiers who had taken an oath or those bound to the family by blood and marriage. Two nanny droids that had been following Ino moved passed the princess and stood by the gate, one on each side. They raised spear-like objects, each with an electric charge snapping and cracking at the end. Ino kept her distance.
“Happy Birthday little one” her mother said. Every year that Ino saw her, she looked as though she had aged ten. Her hair, once a brilliant gold - now harbored large streaks of white, while deep lines etched themselves into sun-kissed freckled skin.…. and yet, she remained the most beautiful woman on Atlas. Her pride and tranquility made people from all over stop and gaze at the rightful queen of the realm. “Are you excited for the parade, my sweet girl?”
Ino shook her head. “I wish to stay and speak with you.”
Her mother’s brows knit together. “Look for me in the crowd. I will be right there watching with everyone else.”
Ino nodded, though she had tears in her eyes.
Her mother reached into a satchel slung across her chest and pulled out an item wrapped in parchment. She handed it to one of the droids through the gate; it passed the gift to the princess.
Ino tore it open with such vigor that the item fell onto the floor. She threw the paper to the side, then knelt down to pick it up. Laying in her hands was a steel blue pillow in the shape of a fish. The craftsmanship was exquisite…. it must have taken weeks. Each individual scale had been lovingly stitched with shimmering gold thread. Ino ran her small fingers over the ridges and curves of the doll, then hugged it to her chest.
Her mother continued. “On the inside, I have placed a small bag. It holds an earring. The same as this-” she brushed her hair behind her ear to reveal a shimmering pearl stud. “Even though they are separated, they still belong to the same pair. When you get upset, my sweet girl, take this in your arms and I will feel it. Pretend that it is me there with you.”
A horn blew in the distance while thousands of people cheered outside the palace gates; a signal that the parade was starting. “Hold your head high my daughter, they may take everything in this world away from you but one thing they can never touch is your honor…. not unless you allow it. We will be together one day, I promise.”
“Mother!” Ino screamed and ran forward.
“Look for me, my sweet girl-”
A droid reached out to stop her, preventing her from being crushed by the large oak doors as they swung closed with a loud thud.
-
She rolled over and blinked away the haze of sleep.
“How do you feel?” Sitting on a chair at the opposite side of the room was The Mandalorian. He had his weapons splayed out across the table, methodically shining and cleaning each little piece.
“Hungry” she rasped out and tried to sit up.
Din was on his feet in an instant, moving over to her and propping up a few pillows underneath her back. “I’ll see what they have for you to eat. There are clean clothes on the bedside table…. I’ll be right back.”
He left the room to allow her some privacy. His mind was a battleground of emotions that he was not equipped to process, so he did the only thing he knew how: pretend as if they weren’t there in the first place. Din had already failed to protect her once; it was bound to happen again if he kept getting distracted. He was a Mandalorian; he needed to start acting like one.
-
Most of the day was spent preparing for their trip through the mountains. Din knew that Ino wasn’t better just yet,  she got winded from doing even the most basic of tasks. He also knew that no amount of protest would make her stop helping them. Her stubbornness bordered on stupidity at times.
Thea noticed this as well. “Your grace?” she asked, as Ino came huffing down the stairs with another box much too heavy for her to carry. “Would you be willing to help me? I have to go to market today and usually Isabel would travel with me. However, she is still recovering and not strong enough for such a task. Would you mind keeping an eye on her while I am gone? It should not take more than a few hours at most.”
“We can play dolls!” Isabel chimed in, holding up a bag of wooden figures complete with handmade clothing and carved furniture.
The princess set the box down on the table, unable to hide the giddiness in her voice “of course, I would be delighted.” The two girls retreated into the backyard, giggling excitedly the entire way.
Din tilted his helmet towards Thea and picked up the box on the table, “thank you.”
Thea smiled and tied a small coin purse to her belt. “Has Rowan mentioned anything about the new member of your expedition?”
“Yes, one of his students.”
“And this is not a problem for you?”
Din shifted uncomfortably. Why did this woman unnerve him so? “I trust your husband’s judgment. Besides, we could use an extra pair of hands.”
“This is true,” she agreed.
“Then why does it seem as though you have something else to tell me?”
Thea shrugged as she passed him, “you misunderstand me, sir. I wish only to confirm with you on behalf of my husband.”
Din was not fully convinced but he did not beg for an answer.
-
The sun was still high in the sky when evening rolled around. Traveling through the mountain during the dark cycles would be needlessly dangerous, and so they agreed to set off on their trip that night.
“Is that everything?” Ino asked.
“Considering we spent all day packing, I hope so” a voice said. A woman emerged from behind the orbaks. She was slender but strong and graceful in her movements. Her hair, the color of copper, matched the skin tight leather armor she dawned. Her inky black eyes landed on Ino. She flashed the princess a smile and dipped into a polite curtsy “your grace. My name is Adella Hart. It is an honor to assist you in your travels.”
“Adella is a student of mine,” Rowan clarified. “She is one of the very best.”
“Well,” the princess said, “thank you for your assistance.”
Rowan clapped his hands together “right, well we are off then.”
Ino turned to where Thea stood in the doorway. “Thank you for letting us stay in your home. You have been most gracious towards us.”
“Please,” Thea said, “I only wish that I could have done more to thank you. Good luck on your Journey Leucothea, you are never a stranger here. Should you ever want for anything, please write to us. Same goes for you, Mandalorian.”
Din, who was standing next to her, gave a brief nod.
Ino felt a warmth in her chest, “we will.”
Isabel stepped from behind her mother. A bundle of fabric was stacked in her hands. She offered them to the princess “these are for you guys.”
Ino reached down to take the bundles. She passed one to Din as well. They both unfolded the fabric and realized what it was. A black shawl topped with the softest fur Ino had ever felt. In thread, placed over the right breast, was her family sigil. A steel blue fish swimming inside of a flaming gold star. The Delmare house words wrapped around it: “Gold in peace, steel in war.” Din’s was nearly the same, except he had the addition of his Clan Mudhorn emblem sewn beside it. “Thank you” Ino murmured. The two women shared one last glance before Ino and Din turned and headed towards the orbaks.
“Your sigil looks good in my family’s colors” Ino mused quietly.
Din just grunted, his face burning with embarrassment. He held onto the animal’s saddle, steadying it while Ino pulled herself up and swung a leg over.

The Art of Wearing Women’s Sarongs: A Blend of Comfort and Fashion
Tumblr media
A sarong is more than just a piece of fabric; it is an art form that combines comfort with effortless fashion. Women’s sarongs are versatile garments, traditionally worn in tropical climates but now celebrated worldwide for their elegance and utility. Whether you’re headed to the beach, enjoying a casual outing, or lounging at home, a sarong offers countless possibilities for creative styling.
The Versatility of Women’s Sarongs
What makes sarongs so appealing is their adaptability. A sarong can easily transform from a simple beach wrap into a stylish dress, a chic skirt, or even a cozy shawl. Its lightweight fabric, often made of breathable materials like cotton, allows it to drape elegantly on any body type. This versatility makes it an essential item for every woman’s wardrobe.
Fashion Meets Functionality
Women's Sarongs have the unique ability to blend fashion with functionality. Their origins in tropical regions mean they were originally designed for comfort in hot climates, allowing airflow and preventing overheating. However, today’s sarongs are not limited to beachwear; they are fashionable enough to wear for casual outings, poolside events, and even evening gatherings.
Pair your sarong with a bikini for a relaxed beach day or knot it at the waist to create a stylish skirt for an evening stroll. You can even drape it over your shoulders as a shawl when the weather cools down. The key to mastering the art of wearing a sarong lies in understanding its potential as a fashion accessory.
How to Tie and Style Your Sarong
One of the best things about sarongs is how easily you can customize them to suit your style. Here are a few creative ways to wear your sarong:
Classic Wrap Dress: Fold the sarong diagonally, wrap it around your body, and tie it at the neck for a quick, easy-to-wear dress.
Bandeau Dress: Wrap the sarong around your chest and tie it at the back for a simple strapless dress, perfect for poolside lounging.
Skirt Style: Fold the sarong in half, wrap it around your waist, and tie it at the side to create a breezy skirt.
Shawl or Scarf: On cooler days, drape the sarong over your shoulders as a light shawl, or wear it as a fashionable scarf.
Head Wrap: Create a stylish head wrap for an exotic look while protecting your hair from the sun.
The possibilities are endless, and with a bit of creativity, your sarong can become the most versatile piece in your wardrobe.

Travel update #5
Ecuador
A lot of events have transpired since I last posted a blog update! I signed off my last post at the border between Colombia and Ecuador. There is a lot to get through and so without further ado, welcome to the fourth country of our travels so far - Ecuador.
Normally at a border crossing the scenery subtly merged from one country to the next but upon arriving into El Ángel National Park at the Ecuadorian border, we were transported into another world. I don’t know how to describe El Ángel National Park as even the photos that I took are pale in comparison to the experience of being there. We were travelling through the park on a dirt track and there were frailjones (a specific type of Latin American sunflower) as far as the eye could see in every direction. We were the only souls along the entirety of this track and the only sounds were those of our tyres on the dirt. It was surreal. It felt like we were the only people on this strange, desolate new planet.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
We passed through a few different towns before we reached the famous Ottavalo Market. The market is known throughout South America for being the best place to buy alpaca wool goods handcrafted by the indigenous people of Ottavalo. The market was vast, bursting with piles of rugs, jumpers, gloves, hats, toys (to name a few) being sold by charming Ottovaleños. We both bought a jumper each and I’ve pretty much been living in it ever since.
Tumblr media
Probably the nicest thing about Ecuador is the amount of indigenous people wearing traditional dress. In Ecuador, 25% of people define themselves as indigenous - 22% more than in Colombia. More often than not in Ecuador, entire villages will be wearing their own cultural variation of the traditional dress. It was interesting to see how this changed as we crossed the country. Women in the North tended to wear long blue dresses, handmade blue sandals, a white blouse with an ornately embroidered belt. Men wore a blue poncho or shirt and a fedora. Once we travelled South, the women of the highlands now wore extremely bright coloured felt shawls held together with a brooch. They wore knee length bright skirts -usually in a contrasting colour to their shawl, wellington boots and a fedora. The men of the highlands wore striped ponchos and wellingtons. This was the first time I had ever seen so many people dressed traditionally throughout the entirely of a country and it was inspiring to see a culture so rich.
The capital of Ecuador is in the North, so we reached Quito fairly early into our journey. Out of all of the Latin American capitals we had visited, Quito felt the most European. It had a really relaxed yet quiet and private vibe. People ran in the parks and took their dogs out for walks in the evening. It was extremely civilised but it seemed to lack the intensity, drama and disinhibition of cities in its neighbouring countries.
The roads after Quito were beautiful. We were cycling through Ecuador’s Volcanic corridor, which took us around Cotopaxi Volcano and ended with the vast and breathtaking Quilatoa Lake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The scenery was spectacular but the cycling was becoming extremely difficult. The small roads that we usually cycled on were now cobbled instead of paved or dirt. We had to bump along up hills of extreme gradients. It was rainy season in Ecuador so we frequently found ourselves cycling in dense fog or rain all day. The dampness made cycling uphill on cobbles extremely slippery and dangerous to do, especially on a bike that weighed the same amount as I did! I found myself having to get off the saddle and push my bike up steep hill after steep hill, most of which only 4x4’s were able to drive up.
Tumblr media
Ecuadorians seemed to prefer to build roads straight up the mountain rather than having the road switch back a few times to gradually take you up. Because of this, our progress became infuriatingly slow - down from 80km per day in Colombia to 40-50km in good weather.
Tumblr media
Ecuador took us to new heights. Most days we were at an altitude of 3000-4000m. Although thankfully neither of us got altitude sickness, doing such intense physical activity so far above sea level left me incredibly out of puff to the point that I would struggle to catch my breath.
The picture painted of cycling through Ecuador online and on social media contrasted immensely with the reality of doing so. Cycle-touring blogs and Instagram accounts that I’ve been following whilst on the trip are endlessly positive highlight reels of what it’s like cycling on the best days. Nobody tells you that you will be woken up in the middle of the night with searing pain in your legs from the build up of lactic acid. Nobody tells you that on the worst day of your period you will be biking 2000m of elevation instead of running yourself a hot bath and stuffing your face with chocolate.
After a while in Ecuador, I started to expect every day to be another bad day, which kickstarted a dangerous spiral of negativity. I would look at Max cycling ahead of me in the distance, conquering each hill much more easily and happily than I could, and I would wonder why I was not able to do the same. I was asking myself why on earth I was putting my mind and body through this every day. It was the first time on the trip that I truly missed home.
Ecuador uses the dollar and is much more expensive than Colombia. Because of this to save money we did a lot more camping than we usually would. However because of the persistent rain we found ourselves needing to camp under shelter, once taking refuge on a volleyball pitch next to the side of the road, other times in hostel courtyards. Not splashing out on a bed in a hostel very often meant that we were tackling the Andes on very little sleep for as long as ten days in a row without a break.
This has been a pretty negative account (sorry!). However it was not totally miserable in Ecuador. On dry days, we got to camp in some of the most amazing, wild spots that have been better than anywhere else on the trip thus far. We spent time camping next to waterfalls and at the base of volcanoes. Between villages while cycling on dirt roads we were very often the only the people around. We saw lots of llamas and alpacas for the first time on the trip!

However no amount of cute, fluffy llamas could make up for the difficulty of the cycling and unfortunately my morale was low. The strain of undertaking such an intense physical challenge and spending every minute of the day together began to take a toll on mine and Max’s relationship. We were exhausted and bickering with each other at every opportunity. I was falling out of love with the cycling and in the end we decided that it would be good to take a break from biking and spend some time apart.
Max and his family were heading to visit him in the Galapagos for ten days, and although I was invited along too I decided to fly to Brazil instead. We were 5 months into the trip and halfway through our time on the continent so it felt like a good moment to rest our bodies and treat ourselves a little bit.
Our cycle route down the Western side of South America doesn’t take us through Brazil and it has always been a country that I have wanted to visit. I booked my flights to Rio de Janeiro and found out a couple of days later that I was going to be there while it’s Carnival! I really needed to blow off some steam and now had the perfect opportunity to do so - it felt like the stars were aligning!
So about a week ago, we both left our bikes behind and flew to completely different places. We are going to return to our bikes refreshed, rested and ready to take on the Peruvian section of the Andes! Other cyclists that we have met on this trip rave about Peru being one of the most beautiful countries to cycle through, so I’m pretty excited. More importantly others have said that Peru is far less steep than Ecuador because they thankfully build long, winding hairpins up the mountain at a gradual gradient when possible. Obviously, there will still be hills to climb but after a good rest I’ll be able to take them on with fresh legs and a positive attitude.
I landed in Rio de Janeiro a few days ago and Carnival is every bit as exciting, intense, raucous and dynamic as you would imagine it to be - just times by one hundred. I’ve been at some of the street parties (that seemingly have no start or end) for a few days now. I will save writing about my time in Brazil for my next update.
Below I’ve posted the full video of our time cycling through Colombia. I’m in the process of putting together the Ecuador video and will upload it in a few days.
Here is the link to track our progress (although we won’t be cycling for a while so you won’t see a lot of progression!)

Similarly to my previous post about reaching the end of Colombia, I thought I would write a list of all the interesting things that I noticed while travelling through Ecuador. Again, it’s lifted from my journal so it informally written.
Ice cream! Ice cream! Ice cream! For a country so cold it’s crazy to see how into ice cream the locals are. On every street there is an ice cream shop. In the North they cover ice cream in cheese (crazy combination I know...) I was intrigued by this but in the end I was too grossed out to give it a try.
The possibility of taking a hot shower is back- for the first time on the entire trip! Ecuadorians mostly have warm showers, which is nice. They don’t have central heating in their buildings so they use propane tanks to heat their water. Every morning a truck selling gas canisters trawls around every neighbourhood, blaring a song sung by children with shrill voices. It’s the same song in every town we have visited.
Ecuador has a strangely large amount of Chinese restaurants called “Chifas.”
They’re mad about topiary gardens. In the North every town square had shrubs with peoples faces and animals cut into them.
Ecuadorians are very quiet, reserved, friendly and humble people.
A very large amount of people drive old school classic VW Beetles. It’s definitely the most common type of classic car you will see in Ecuador.
