The main challenge is to download the OS installation file itself, because your Mac may already be running a newer version. If you succeed in downloading the OS installation, your next step is to create a bootable USB or DVD and then reinstall the OS on your computer.

How to download older Mac OS X versions via the App Store
If you once had purchased an old version of Mac OS X from the App Store, open it and go to the Purchased tab. There you’ll find all the installers you can download. However, it doesn’t always work that way. The purchased section lists only those operating systems that you had downloaded in the past. But here is the path to check it:
Click the App Store icon.
Click Purchases in the top menu.
Scroll down to find the preferred OS X version.
Click Download.
This method allows you to download Mavericks and Yosemite by logging with your Apple ID — only if you previously downloaded them from the Mac App Store.

Nevertheless, keep in mind that if you visit developer.apple.com/downloads, you can only find 10.3-10.6 OS X operating systems there. Newer versions are not available because starting Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.7, the App Store has become the only source of updating Apple OS versions.
Purchase an older version of Mac operating system
You can purchase a boxed or email version of past Mac OS X directly from Apple. Both will cost you around $20. For the reason of being rather antiquated, Snow Leopard and earlier Apple versions can only be installed from DVD.

The email edition comes with a special download code you can use for the Mac App Store. Note, that to install the Lion or Mountain Lion, your Mac needs to be running Snow Leopard so you can install the newer OS on top of it.

If you are wondering if you can run El Capitan on an older Mac, rejoice as it’s possible too. But before your Mac can run El Capitan it has to be updated to OS X 10.6.8. So, here are main steps you should take:
1. Install Snow Leopard from install DVD. 2. Update to 10.6.8 using Software Update. 3. Download El Capitan here.
“I can’t download an old version of Mac OS X”
If you have a newer Mac, there is no physical option to install Mac OS versions older than your current Mac model. For instance, if your MacBook was released in 2014, don’t expect it to run any OS released prior of that time, because older Apple OS versions simply do not include hardware drivers for your Mac.
But as it often happens, workarounds are possible. There is still a chance to download the installation file if you have an access to a Mac (or virtual machine) running that operating system. For example, to get an installer for Lion, you may ask a friend who has Lion-operated Mac or, once again, set up a virtual machine running Lion. Then you will need to prepare an external drive to download the installation file using OS X Utilities.
After you’ve completed the download, the installer should launch automatically, but you can click Cancel and copy the file you need. Below is the detailed instruction how to do it.
STEP 3. Install older OS X onto an external drive
The following method allows you to download Mac OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks.
Start your Mac holding down Command + R.
Prepare a clean external drive (at least 10 GB of storage).
Within OS X Utilities, choose Reinstall OS X.
Select external drive as a source.
Enter your Apple ID.

Now the OS should start downloading automatically onto the external drive. After the download is complete, your Mac will prompt you to do a restart, but at this point, you should completely shut it down. Now that the installation file is “captured” onto your external drive, you can reinstall the OS, this time running the file on your Mac.

An Ethical Guide to Practicing Law Virtually

Over the course of the last year, things no one imagined doing remotely began to be an at-home norm. From universities transitioning to completely remote instruction to doctors performing physical examinations via video call from their couches, the world made a drastic shift to best accommodate the conditions and restrictions that came with the COVID-19 pandemic. Lawyers experienced a reality no different than that of students, instructors and doctors, and were quickly anticipated to transition their practices into a remote operation. While this was a seemingly universal transition of everyday life, lawyers faced roadblocks that challenged their ethical and professional responsibilities in ways that other professions did not experience. While an advanced understanding of technological communication platforms has never before been a requirement to proficiently practice law, it may conflict with a lawyer’s ethical responsibility to represent a client to the best of their ability. To best address circumstances that may lead to unethical representation as a result of this transition to remote practicing, the American Bar Association has recently released Formal Opinion 498. This document, published to offer guidance for compliance to the Rules of Professional Conduct, lends itself as the only formal standing rule set to reference when assessing an lawyer’s virtual conduct. [1] As virtual litigation and representation have further developed within the pandemic, there are instances that have illustrated a need for this sort of ABA-approved guidance.
Formal Opinion 498 first defends the remote or virtual practice of law. As something not commonly seen in the profession up until now, the ABA did identify that it is a valid format of conduct, writing “a lawyer’s practice may be entirely virtual because there is no requirement in the Model Rules that a lawyer have a brick-and-mortar office.” [2] In order to assure that such a platform delivers the same expected services in compliance with the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, the opinion piece continues to identify different aspects of both professional conduct and technology standards required to meet ABA expectations. This article will highlight the primary points made within Formal Opinion 498 with which lawyers should most consciously make an effort to be compliant.
When outlining “Commonly Implicated Model Rules of Professional Conduct'', Formal Opinion 498 places an emphasis on 1. Competence, diligence and communication, 2. Confidentiality, and 3. Supervision. [2] It is explanatory why these would be focus points emphasized by the ABA to ensure ethical representation, but the opinion piece further outlines the exact expectations they have to ensure correspondence with each requirement. In order to ensure competence, diligence and communication, the opinion piece cites Model Rules 1.1, 1.3, and 1.4 and their guiding principles. Model Rule 1.1 reads “to maintain the requisite knowledge and skill [to be competent], a lawyer should keep abreast of changes in the law and its practice, including the benefits and risks associated with relevant technology, engage in continuing study and education and comply with all continuing legal education requirements to which the lawyer is subject.” [2] This, stripped of its jargon, states that a lawyer should be able to be adaptable and flexible around new demands of the profession, not excluding a transition to virtual practice. In addition to this, Rule 1.3 formally states that a lawyer must ““pursue a matter on behalf of a client despite opposition, obstruction or personal inconvenience to the lawyer, and take whatever lawful and ethical measures are required to vindicate a client’s cause or endeavor.” [2] In the current climate, the opposition in question would be federal and state mandates to work from home, leave office settings unoccupied and limit your personal interactions to within your household. Virtual practice affords a lawyer compliance with this rule in an environment that would otherwise inhibit their ability to fulfill this duty. However, alongside these responsibilities to quality service is also the commitment to provide said services in a safe and secure manner. This is where the responsibility to confidentiality is called into question. In order to define the expectation of confidentiality in Formal Opinion 498, the ABA references Model Rule 1.6 which states that a lawyer “shall not reveal information relating to the representation of a client”. [2] While this is a responsibility assumed by a lawyer within the profession, the virtual transmission of information, communication with clients and colleagues and platforms used for work all may compromise this duty to their client. Model Rule 1.6 emphasizes that confidentiality is ensured both by law and by an agreement between the client and the lawyer, so it is required that a lawyer practicing virtually takes extra security measures to safeguard any confidential information associated with a client of theirs. [2] While this does not prohibit a lawyer from utilizing internet-based correspondence, it is a warning that they must be cautious and well-aware of the confidentiality that their chosen method of communication provides to comply with Model Rule 1.6. A final ethical obligation possessed by lawyers that has not been addressed since the transition to virtual practice is their supervisory requirements. Settings in which there are supervisory lawyers and lawyers who work under supervision uphold additional standards of ethics that not every lawyer is subjected to. These include establishing and enforcing policies and standards that ensure communication and compliance between both managerial staff members and their staff members. [2] In a setting in which there are several lawyers practicing under one another, it is important to establish accountability and reliability between one another while also holding one another accountable to ensure that the workplace is properly abiding by the Rules of Professional Conduct. The biggest concern that the ABA expresses regarding this is the use of a shared work platform. The formal opinion reads that a lawyer must “act competently to safeguard information relating to the representation of a client against unauthorized access by third parties and against inadvertent or unauthorized disclosure by the lawyer or other persons who are participating in the representation of the client or who are subject to the lawyer’s supervision.” [2] This means that, in the same sense as confidentiality, the lawyer must ensure that the client/attorney confidentiality is not compromised by others within the firm having unrestricted access to any documents or information. To provide an example that readers would be comfortable with, imagine a firm transitions to virtual practice and shares all of their correspondence and forwarding documents or items of evidence within a Google Drive accessible by the whole firm. While that may seem productive in the means that it provides easy access for all of the parties involved, it is in violation of the expectations of supervision. A staff member not involved in the attorney-client privilege would have unprotected access to such information, violating the client’s expectations of privacy and confidentiality. To best accommodate this rule, lawyers may benefit from developing or purchasing a secured networking system within their firm.
The second category of guidelines established in Formal Opinion 498 outlines “Particular Virtual Practice Technologies and Considerations”. This portion of the onion article establishes a general guideline for 1. Hard/Software systems, 2. Accessing client files and data, 3. Virtual meeting platforms and videoconferencing , 4. Virtual document and data exchange platforms, 5. Smart speakers, virtual assistants, and other listening-enabled devices, 6. Supervision, and 7. Possible limitations of virtual practice. [2] These areas of interest are emphasized in order to best ensure that the aforementioned rules that establish professional conduct can be easily achievable. For example, all of these accommodations in addition to professional and ethical behavior will best ensure ABA-approved results. In order for this relationship to be made, a direct link between these technologies and successful work as a lawyer must be established. The importance of hard/software systems relates back to the guarantee of confidentiality. This formal opinion identifies that “lawyers should ensure that they have carefully reviewed the terms of service applicable to their hardware devices and software systems to assess whether confidentiality is protected.” [2] Without doing so, breaches in security and violations of confidentiality are more likely to occur. Similarly to this, the concern regarding accessing client files and data extends beyond the scope of convenient access. Formal Opinion 498 reads that files would be best “provided through a cloud service, the lawyer should (i) choose a reputable company, and (ii) take reasonable steps to ensure that the confidentiality of client information is preserved, and that the information is readily accessible to the lawyer.” [2] This would ensure that all files and materials are accessible and secure at all times, complying with both the confidentiality and supervision requirements. The risks posed by virtual meeting platforms and videoconferencing too can be diminished. While it is always important to ensure a reliable platform for workplace endeavors, the ABA further elaborates that “access to accounts and meetings should be only through strong passwords, and the lawyer should explore whether the platform offers higher tiers of security for businesses/enterprises”, going on to further explain that the same security protocols should be applied to video and written transcripts of any virtual meetings. [2] This kind of proactive measure also provides additional comfort that a lawyer is abiding by their professional duty. This is no different for virtual document and data exchange platforms. In similar fashion to the last two requirements, these aids should only be utilized when the lawyer is properly and securely in control of them. Any security breach that occurs following the improper use of these tools would be in violation of a lawyer’s responsibilities. Listening devices, smart speakers and virtual assistants are all resources that have become very popularized in the last few years. Many houses are staffed with Amazon Alexa or Google Home features. While practicing from home, however, the ABA recommends that the listening capabilities of these devices are disabled to ensure maximum privacy and security of the subject matter. [2] In the same sense that all digital platforms are expected to be highly secured and messages are expected to be encrypted, the formal opinion piece highlights that lawyers are expected to take the speaker capabilities of these devices into consideration when in their at-home work environment. Supervision, a highly regarded ethical responsibility of a lawyer highlighted in Model Rule 5.1, identifies all of  the managerial responsibilities that were aforementioned in this article when discussing the Rules of Professional Conduct. To refresh exactly why this is something highly encouraged by the ABA, their recent opinion article states “the virtually practicing managerial lawyer must adopt and tailor policies and practices to ensure that all members of the firm and any internal or external assistants operate in accordance with the lawyer’s ethical obligations of supervision.” [2] This will ultimately ensure maximum collaboration and accountability in the remote work environment. The final concern highlighted by the ABA was exactly how remote practicing can limit a lawyer. To this, the ABA illustrates exactly what must be done in order to be considered compliant. In order to practice in an unlimited manner, a lawyer must be able to fulfill all accounting and monetary obligations, submit all paperwork and docket correspondence by their deadlines, provide methods of access to themselves if they are not in the office and remain connected with their clients at all times. [2] While these are easily accommodatable requirements, it is important to the integrity of a lawyer’s work that they are all met.
As the largest influencer in the world of law, the ABA releasing Formal Opinion 498 to establish precedent in the remote-working world will likely solve any unprofessional conduct that has been taking place over the last year. In a profession where written guidance and precedent is vital to success, these guidelines establish an easy to understand expectation of legal practice, no different than the model rules themselves. Clients likely feel better with the assurance that any virtual representation or counsel they receive is held to the same standards as traditional practice. It was in the best interest of the ABA to be proactive in producing this piece before law transitioned into something other than its traditional practice.

First of all, do you need a special licence to provide consultations?  The requirements differ between professions and are also very much country –specific. But if you are providing a service, your customers will want to know that you are allowed to do so.
Talking about customers, will you be storing any of their personal data? If so, and they happen to be in Europe, be sure to check what are the GDPR requirements for that.

Let’s start from the beginning.
How will your clients book appointments with you? 
Whether you take phone bookings or use an online tool, take into account your customers’ preferences. Ensure the software you ask them to interact with is simple and easy. It also has to be available in the language they speak and on the type of device they will prefer to use (desktop or mobile).
