todays thoughts are abt gabe and the s.outh asian community in london apparently. when others started immigrating in the late 60s/early 70s, he got so excited; seeing people & families he already knew, or people he’d become friends with.. some staying his friends until modern day or knowing their children/grandchildren — celebrating holidays like diwali, eid, sikh new year, with them. since he lived in india for so long, these celebrations feel more “like home” than english christmas or things like nov 5th.
through some plotting w/ a friend, he’s got a kid & she, though looking white, was raised with all this too and the amount of aunties / family friends who have dressed her up & gotten her jewelry and such -
