Welcome back to 200 Years of Beauty!
This week is the year 1968. The late 60’s was when the hippie culture was in full swing. There were protests, changes in fashion, and a more laid-back outlook on things. Bright colors and wild patterns were in style. Fashion was in inspired by Nepal, India, Bali, Morocco, and Africa. The feminist movement was in full swing again and this time women were tossing out their makeup, heels, bras, and adapting to men’s fashion.
Makeup
By the late 60’s makeup wasn’t worn as much due to the hippie culture. Some women wore very little to no makeup. Because there was such a wide range of looks going on I decided to do a Brigitte Bardot. It’s a natural look with a dramatic wing.
I did my normal base making sure it was matte and did my eyebrows like I normally do. For eyes, I used a shadow that was close to my skin tone all over the lid and a lighter shade to blend out the edges. I used black liner to do a very dramatic wing and I did apply my lashes to balance it out. On the lower lash line, I smudged black shadow and connected it to the wing. I used a matte pinky nude on my lips and went light on the blush.
Hair
Hairstyles went from the beehive to pixie cuts, to long and straight. Since not one style was on trend it just depended on what you liked for your overall look. My hair is not long or straight so I did a little casual updo.
You will need:
A comb
Bobby pins
A scarf
If you have bangs like me then you are already ready for this look. If not you can do faux bangs or leave your hair alone. Tie the scarf behind your bangs and under the rest of your hair. Tease the top section of your hair to create a poof behind the scarf. If your hair is like mine and has a mind of its own push the hair up and pin it so the poof stays. Take the rest of your hair and make a bun and pin into place.
COme back next week for 1978!

How to find the best swimsuit for you in your 30s
Growing up, everyone had that one shopping experience that filled them with dread. If you weren’t part of the ‘I am just blessed with great metabolism’ gene pool, then swimwear often topped that list.
But age brings all kinds of acceptance, and possibly (sartorial) wisdom, with it. By the time you hit your 30s, you understand that confidence is key, and build your life and wardrobe with that in mind. From last-minute meetings to cocktail party invites, you know just the outfit to go to for every mise-en-scène life throws your way. And that includes lazy (or hazy?) summers spent splashing around in your favourite element.
By now, the body-confident you has a knack for identifying just the right bathing suit—the one that accentuates your frame whilst keeping discomfort at bay. But as a new season rolls around, it’s only sensible to give your existing inventory a little pick-me-up, especially when your current favourites have already made ample appearances on your ’gram.
Swimsuit inspiration from the celebrities
Solid colours and two-piece swimsuits seem to be a unanimous celebrity favourite. Ileana D’Cruz makes a strong case for ruffled off-shoulder sets in white, as does Bipasha Basu. Don’t forget the matching unicorn float to complete your #PoolDay look.

When the sun comes out to play, so should your washboard abs—or so Katrina Kaif in her scalloped halter bikini would have us believe. Lisa Haydon is proof that 30-something new moms do it hotter—from high-cut backless monokinis to itsy bandeau top bikinis, she demonstrates that nothing is off-limits. Priyanka Chopra and Jacqueline Fernandez are all about one-piece wonders with cutout detailing. Black for femme fatale vibes or neon brights for a playful demeanour, take your pick.

How to ace swimwear in your 30s
If you find yourself running for the hills at the mention of a bikini, know that this isn’t the only two-piece option available to you. Take the plunge with high-waist bottoms instead, but tread carefully with boy shorts or skirted bottoms. As far as your suit’s top is concerned, keep it sophisticated in bandeau, bustier, high-neck halters and crops. Triangle tops are best left to your 20s. But on the occasion that you can’t keep your hands off it, at least ensure it’s not one that dangerously resembles a push-up bra.
Dive into the ’50s with Bardot frills, halter-tops, ruched sets and polka dots. Or play with a delicate hint of ruffles or smocking on the neckline and straps. If a few tan lines don’t scare you, invest in one-shoulder or crisscross front styles for high impact and drama. Or revel in your own Baywatch moment with a high-cut one-piece swimsuit—the style’s knack of creating the illusion of longer legs doesn’t hurt either. Or move the party to the back with scoop back variations. What monokinis lack in the midriff-baring department, they make up with daring cutouts, keyhole necklines and ample décolletage display. The real coup de grâce this season, though, is the cinched swimsuit. Whether it’s a belted monokini or a belt strapped around your suit bottom, you can’t step into summer without one of these packed in your suitcase.
It’s never an epic summer without some killer swimwear to lend it that coveted touch of glamour. Scroll through our slideshow to find your perfect match.

They are loved by millions in India and have a kind of star power which is unparalleled in the country. Yes, we are talking about the Bachchans, one of the most powerful families of Bollywood. Amitabh Bachchan might be the Shahenshah but the women in the family are no less. Jaya Bachchan was a star performer in the 70s, Shweta Nanda is a strong opinionated woman just like her mother and Navya Naveli is already one of the most popular celeb kids with a strong fan following on Instagram. So, when three generations of the family come together for a photo shoot for the first time, it’s bound to be magical.
Gracing the cover of Vogue India’s August issue, the beautiful ladies can be seen posing comfortably with each other. The leading fashion magazine shared the cover photo on Instagram with the caption: “It runs in the family–Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Navya Naveli Nanda grace the #August cover of Vogue India. ”
They also revealed how the Bachchan-Nanda women share a bond that’s as special as it’s normal and it shows on the cover photo. Jaya Bachchan can be seen in the centre with Shweta Nanda fondly holding her from behind and Navya Naveli taking a place near her grandmom’s lap, with all of them staring straight into the camera. The trio can be seen wearing pastels and while we like all, we think the youngest one is the clear winner in the one-shoulder white outfit.
The other photos are equally stunning. In this photo, Jaya can be seen wearing a beautiful pastel jacket with floral work on it from master couturier, Zuhair Murad’s label and denims from Los Angeles-based brand NYDJ.
Navya looks lovely in Alexander McQueen while Shweta looks like a boss in a stunning pantsuit from Valentin Yudashkin.
In the second photo, the mother is seen wearing a beautiful bell-sleeves top and billowy black pants, both from Verandah. The pointy-toe mustard pumps from Kurt Geiger adds a nice touch.
Meanwhile, Shweta is seen rocking a green dress with a plunging neckline from Asos and metallic pumps from Christian Louboutin.
The third photo is a super cute one with both the ladies looking super awesome.
We love the Michael Kors bardot neckline blue top and the checkered midi skirt on Shweta and the lovely blue sheer dress from Dolce & Gabbana on her daughter.
Last but not the least, budding fashionista Navya Naveli can be seen in a Gucci outfit here.
There’s something really glamorous about the Bachchan-Nanda women. They look lovely, don’t you think?
