From one of our readers: “I really need someone to explain how a private company is allowed imminent domain " for the greater good" I thought the whole point of it pumped to Houston was for over seas export. How does that benefit us or "the greater good" it's for private profit at our expense.” That’s we we think, too. You should ask your state legislators. They’re the ones who won’t make the eminent domain laws anything resembling sanity. Please take a few minutes today to call our local elected officials and tell them you oppose the pipeline coming through the karst-rich Hill Country. Contact info is at the bottom of this post. Commissioners meet at Johnson City Courthouse at 9:00 am. If you'd like to tell the Judge and Commissioners how you feel about the proposed pipeline, please show up early so you can sign in as a speaker. It appears they are trying to discourage us, because they have moved the public comments form the beginning of the meeting to the end. WE ARE IN THIS FOR THE LONG HAUL. It's crucial to keep letting them know how their constituents feel. The Blanco City Council meets at 6:00 pm in Council Chambers on the east side of the Blanco Square. 803 Pecan St. BlancoSTP's Deda Devine is on the agenda to speak about the ramifications of the proposed pipeline. The Permian Highway Pipeline would clear cut a swath right through our prime Golden Cheek Warbler nesting habitat. Instead of choosing a different route through a less ecologically sensitive area, Kinder Morgan just plans to buy mitigation credits and call it good. This, of course, will not alleviate the habitat destruction and fragmentation of the many nests here, of which we are the stewards. The Golden Cheek Warblers are very sensitive to disturbances. The magnitude of the consequences of this massive project right through the middle of their habitat is unknown.
