Bobby Fischer was born at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, on March 9, 1943.[2] His mother, Regina Wender Fischer, was a US citizen,[3][4] born in Switzerland; her parents were Polish Jews.[5][6] Raised in St. Louis, Missouri,[2] Regina became a teacher, a registered nurse, and later a physician.[7]
After graduating from college in her teens, Regina traveled to Germany to visit her brother. It was there she met geneticist and future Nobel Prize winner Hermann Joseph Muller, who persuaded her to move to Moscow to study medicine. She enrolled at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, where she met Hans-Gerhardt Fischer, also known as Gerardo Liebscher,[8] a German biophysicist, whom she married in November 1933.[9] In 1938, Hans-Gerhardt and Regina had a daughter, Joan Fischer. The reemergence of anti-Semitism under Stalin prompted Regina to go with Joan to Paris, where Regina became an English teacher. The threat of a German invasion led her and Joan to go to the United States in 1939. Regina and Hans-Gerhardt had already separated in Moscow, although they did not officially divorce until 1945.[9]
At the time of her son's birth, Regina was homeless[10] and shuttled to different jobs and schools around the country to support her family. She engaged in political activism and raised both Bobby and Joan as a single parent.[11][12][13]
After forfeiting his title as World Champion, Fischer became reclusive and sometimes erratic, disappearing from both competitive chess and the public eye. In 1992, he reemerged to win an unofficial rematch against Spassky. It was held in Yugoslavia, which was under a United Nations embargo at the time. His participation led to a conflict with the US government, which warned Fischer that his participation in the match would violate an executive order imposing US sanctions on Yugoslavia. The US government ultimately issued a warrant for his arrest. After that, Fischer lived as an émigré. In 2004, he was arrested in Japan and held for several months for using a passport that the US government had revoked. Eventually, he was granted an Icelandic passport and citizenship by a special act of the Icelandic Althing, allowing him to live in Iceland until his death in 2008.
Shortly after midnight on September 12, 2001, Philippines local time (approximately four hours after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the US), Fischer was interviewed live by Pablo Mercado on the Baguio City station of the Bombo Radyo network. Fischer stated that he was happy that the attacks had happened, while expressing his view on United States and Israeli foreign policy, saying, "I applaud the act. Look, nobody gets ... that the US and Israel have been slaughtering the Palestinians ... for years."[422][423][424][425] He also said, "The horrible behavior that the US is committing all over the world ... This just shows you, that what goes around, comes around even for the United States."[422][423] Fischer also referenced the movie Seven Days in May and said he hoped for a military coup d'état in the US, "[I hope] the country will be taken over by the military—they'll close down all the synagogues, arrest all the Jews, execute hundreds of thousands of Jewish ringleaders."[426][427] In response to Fischer's statements about 9/11, the US Chess Federation passed a motion to cancel his right to membership in the organization.[428] Fischer's right to become a member was reinstated in 2007.[429]
On January 17, 2008, Fischer died at age 64 from kidney failure at the Landspítali Hospital (National University Hospital of Iceland) in Reykjavík. He had been suffering from degenerative kidney failure.[462][463] He originally had a urinary tract blockage but refused surgery or medication.[464][465][466] Magnús Skúlason reported Fischer's response to leg massages: "Nothing soothes as much as the human touch."[467]
Although Fischer's mother was Jewish, Fischer rejected attempts to label him as Jewish.[13] In a 1962 interview with Harper's, asked if he was Jewish, he replied that he was "part-Jewish" through his mother. In the same interview he was quoted as saying, "I read a book lately by Nietzsche and he says religion is just to dull the senses of the people. I agree."[479] In a 1984 letter to the editor of the Encyclopaedia Judaica, Fischer demanded that they remove his name from future editions.[480]
Fischer associated with the Worldwide Church of God in the mid-1960s. The church prescribed Saturday Sabbath, and forbade work (and competitive chess) on Sabbath.[481] According to his friend and colleague Larry Evans, in 1968 Fischer felt philosophically that "the world was coming to an end" and he might as well make some money by publishing My 60 Memorable Games;[482] Fischer thought that the Rapture was coming soon.[483]
bobby fischer was a really weird guy.

Private group leads awareness caravan vs. ASF
#PHinfo: Private group leads awareness caravan vs. ASF
ILOILO CITY, Feb. 11 (PIA) -- In an attempt to prevent the entry of the African Swine Fever (ASF) in Western Visayas, the Iloilo-Bacolod Association of Veterinary Sales Representatives (IBAVSR) carries out a week-long caravan in Panay Island from Feb. 8 to 12.
According to Department of Agriculture- Western Visayas’ (DA-WV) Regulatory Division chief Dr. Jonic F. Natividad, this IBAVSR-led info drive complements the agency’s efforts in promoting awareness among the various sectors from animal raisers to retailers, shippers/travelers, handlers, and consumers who are key players in the fight against ASF, a press release from DA 6 said.
Underlining the group’s advocacy slogan “Western Visayas: Hilway sa sakit kag matinlo nga karne sang baboy!,” campaign posters were installed in strategic locations including ports of entry and public markets.
IBAVSR members also initiated the discussions with the municipal agriculturists as they rolled out the caravan at the Dumangas Port to Banate Port, Barotac Viejo Market, Culasi Port in Ajuy, Sara, Concepcion, Bancal Port in Carles, and Estancia in Iloilo Province up to the provinces of Capiz, Aklan, and Antique.
The caravan here in Panay Island sets to culminate in the towns of Alimodian, Leon, and San Miguel, Iloilo. Similar activity is set to be held on March 2 to 4 in Negros Occidental, the press release added.
Transportation of live hogs, processed pork products, and food wastes from ASF hotspots including Luzon, Mindanao, and Eastern Visayas regions are banned from entering the region to safeguard the ₱20-billion local hog industry.
“We anticipate stronger partnerships with the different sectors as we mainstream the advocacies and awareness of ASF as a dreaded hog virus. Stringent quarantine measures, disinfection, surveillance, and monitoring activities are being done now that we tie-up with the LGUs in the implementation of ‘Bantay ASF sa Barangay,’ one of the agency’s Whole-of-Nation approaches to restore the swine industry,” added Natividad.
Alongside the ASF campaign, the Regulatory Division also tightened the stakeholders’ understanding of the Republic Act (RA) 7556 or the Feeds Act and the RA 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act.
DA-WV produced posters and flyers were also distributed during the caravan on top of the radio campaigns being aired over DYRI-RMN Iloilo 774kHz, DYSI Super Radyo Iloilo 1323kHz, and DYFM Bombo Radyo Iloilo 837kHz.  (PIA6/Story and photo by SMHToreno/DA-RFO VI, RAFIS)

Sabado
Nagising ako isang araw, kamakailan:
Napamasid sa paligid,
natigilan at napaisip
"Nasaan ba ako ngayon?"
At sa unang pagkakataon
Makalipas ang maikling panahon,
Naramdaman ko ang lungkot na dala
Ng katahimikang saaki'y bumungad.
Hangin sa bintana kong bukas ang siyang nagpabatid:
Oo nga pala, Wala ako sa Pilipinas;
Bombo radyo, o diskong palaging naririnig
O kaya ang daing ni Nanay na sanay
Palaging maagang magising, maligo't magsaing.
sabay maalalang
Magbabayad pala dapat ng mga nakalistang utang
Bilang kahapon lang ang sahuran.
Simple lang ang buhay doon,
Kaunting salapi ang kita, salat madalas
Ngunit kahit papa'no'y kinakaya naman.
Sinuwerte lang nang makatapak
Sa yaring sulok ng bansang kinaroroonan
Upang makipagsapalaran
Sa mga konspto at mga dayuhang
Malayo sa nakasanayan.
Ito na ako ngayon:
Mukhang marangya sa malayo,
Ngunit sa katahimikan ng bungad ng Sabado,
Ramdam ko ang puwang ng mga
Ingay at tunog
mula sa buhay sa Bayang aking tahanan
#tula #ofw #filipinopoetry
matagal na palang di sumusulat. 😅 Alam kong Linggo ngayon ngunit Sabado marahil noong una kong sinulat. napulot ko lamang to sa drafts. 😳

MODULE 2.2
LEARNING TASK 2
RESPONSE MODEL
Tumblr media
A. I have identified the AIDA Model as the response that best suits to my business because its number of stages are not too long to build a probability that before consumers can reach the purchase stage, I will lose their interest, but is is not too short also not to be able to create a relationship with the target markets. With its stages, specifically attention, interest, and desire -I can use them to build my brand's identity and unique offerings since my promotional activities want to highlight those attributes. The three mentioned stages can give me enough time to create an interactive and persuasive marketing to make the consumers purchase my products. This model also touches both the cognitive and emotional sense of the consumers. Indeed, AIDA has the responses that meet the objectives of my promotional plan.
B. Using the response model you just chose, begin writing your promotional plan to move your customers from a state of no or little awareness to the point where they are ready to purchase.
PROMOTIONAL PLAN: AIDA MODEL
•STEP ONE: PLANT AWARENESS
∆ Create social media accounts and websites to promote my business brand and my products since my target markets are into the digital lifestyle.
∆ Conduct an online launching of my products to generate viewers and to inform them about my brand and products existence.
∆ Create and post videos featuring my products and their specific profiles along with my tagline and advocacy in creating my business.
∆ Create a digital exhibit of succulents in my business’ website. These are photos that will be posted specifically on my blog and do a virtual tour and interaction with my viewers to generate awareness.
∆ Advertise on leading local radio stations, specifically Bombo Radyo and Star FM, to make the local market aware of our brand and products.
•STEP TWO: PROPAGATE INTEREST
∆Post digital posters that highlights the rare and unique characteristics of my products.
∆Create an online forum on my business website where probable consumers can ask specific about my products and chat with others to share ideas specifically all about succulents.
∆Feature the succulents and their ability to be resilient in changing climates and their different hues and shades in a promotional video. It can be entitled, “A day with succulents”.
∆Write articles, trivia, puns, and fun facts about succulents –to spread humor, feed people’s curiosity, and share information at the same time in my business websites.
∆ To feature our succulents on vlogs, blogs, feature article in digital newspaper, and lifestyle shows.
•STEP THREE: CULTIVATE DESIRE
∆Create and post digital posters, infographics, and videos to highlight the environmental benefits of succulents and their positive effects in mental health.
∆Launch new series of my products, examples are: SUCCULENTS AS HEALERS, SUCCULENTS AS AIR PURIFIERS, INTERIOR DESIGN MADE OF LIFE, to generate surprises, wonders, and sense of newness.
∆Associate farming with succulents and their accumulated powers that can keep someone healthy both physically and mentally through “how to do” videos.
∆Present many alternatives that can be offered by succulents: air purifiers, medicinal properties, helping to preserve, and such, that create impact to one’s life, and the fact that it does not take too much attention and money to purchase and propagate using infographics and vlog.
∆ Execute a product placement on a leading morning shoe in television, specifically Unang Hirit of GMA network.
•STEP 4: HARVEST ACTION
∆Promote my business’ discount offerings, seasonal succulent varieties, offered packages and services in my social media accounts.
∆Post a video testimony of people and their positive experiences with succulents.
∆Conduct online contests all about succulents that will encourage more participants, viewers, and purchasers for my business brand.
∆Conduct an online exhibit about succulents and the photos will be coming from succulent growers to feature their own plants, effort, and satisfaction in cultivation.
P.S. a dose of marketing guidance 📢

Why Broadcasting?
Hi! I’m Albert G. Navarro. You can call me Bert or Berto.I’m currently 2nd year college student at Bicol University taking up Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting.
At this point, I’m going to share with you why I choose this course.
When I was in high school, I have joined several press conference. These press conference really helped me in improving my writing and speaking skills. In fact, those press conference I have experienced before, became one of the factors why I decided to choose broadcasting as my course in college.I have experienced ups and downs as a broadcasting student.I thought that those press conference I’ve done in high school was the same in college but  I was wrong.I realized it was so much more than I was thinking.Everyday I am learning and discovering new things that I know I will bring with me ‘till the end.Broadcasting is a very challenging course. Taking up Broadcasting is really not easy as counting one to ten.Taking this kind of profession is really a tough one.Because we don’t just talk, basically we write, act, report, broadcast, capture and as many tasks we can mention in line with communication. We dedicate our lives for the sake of the clear, accurate and fact-based news for the people. There’s always a misconception about our course and other people think that broadcasting is just simple talking or reporting but it’s not as simple as that.
Last May 2019, Local and National Elections, I have been part of THE VOTE 2019 SPECIAL COVERAGE of Bombo Radyo Legazpi as a volunteer reporter. It was indeed a great experienced.I am forever thankful and greatful to this radio station for giving me the opportunity to experience a real life broadcasting.Being a volunteer is not easy but in the end it gives much joy when something is accomplished through perseverance and willingness to render services. However, I met a lots of local and national media personalities and I have given a chance to take photos with them. That was a great  accomplishment for me as a future media practitioner.
Apparently, I love watching News and Public Affairs Program especially 24 Oras. And my favorite anchor is Mike Enriquez..My friends said that I and Mike Enriquez way of reporting is same as mine.I think yes.I am also into watching Documentaries with my favorite host Kara David. The way she presents the documentaries with her angelic voice, damn so amazing.I think that’s why a lot of people idiolized her.Knowing that all of the experiences of Kara David behind the camera where she became a writer, reasearcher and so on  and where she is now basically inspire me to reach my goals.
After so many years, I can see myself working in the media industry.
Again, this is Albert Navarro, a Broadcasting student and a future media practitioner as well.

A WORD FROM KRD: Tokyo 2020 Closing Credits
57 years after the 1964 first hosting, Tokyo has made it through the 2nd consecuitive hosting. Japan has hosted the Summer games in the capital once and the Winter Olympics (1972 in Sapporo & 1998 in Nagano) twice prior to the 2nd hosting of the olympiad in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Cignal, the country's leading direct-to-home satellite service in the country, which turned 12 this year, witnessed sporting events in all angles. With millions and millions have turned to Cignal and its prepaid counterpart Satlite for news, sports, entertainment, and more; the MVP-owned pay television service, along with telecom giants PLDT and Smart, and Terrestrial broadcasters TV5 Network (TV5 and One Sports) forged with Dentsu, a global content provider and distributor, to bring non-stop olympic coverage to filipino audiences on satellite and terrestrial TV, and on digital platforms via streaming.
The stalled olympics pushed through this year. The campaign for Team Philippines began with 19 athletes, equaled to that of Sydney games 21 years ago. Four boxers, most in the number of athletes. Followed by Three athletes in Golf, while Weightlifting, Athlethics, and Swimming with two athletes each; and one athlete in: Judo, Skateboarding, Rowing, Shooting, Artistic Gymnastics, and Taekwondo.
Aside from the Philippines, two other nations had their historic Gold medals in the Olympics for the 1st time: Bermuda, and Qatar.
Filipinos tuned in to Team Philippines action for the entire two-week duration of the games. One by one, athletes failed. Then, only the best and strongest were prevail. Meet your Pinoy Big Four in Tokyo 2020: Our medalists who performed very well in this quadrennial meet and they deserved them the best. In this month's A Word from KRD, we will pay homage to the athletes in our own little way. Our salute to them.

Our special thanks go out to IOC Execuitive Board Member Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, and also to Philippine Olympic Commitee President Bambol Tolentino, and MVP Sports Foundation led by Chairman Manny Pangilinan, and President Ricky Vargas; for making the impossible POSSIBLE. Mistreated household helper thanks PRRD for swift justice
#PHnews: Mistreated household helper thanks PRRD for swift justice
GENERAL SANTOS CITY – The household helper maltreated by dismissed Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro thanked President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday for the swift and decisive action on her case. Leonila de Ocampo, 51, said she was grateful to the President for making sure that she received all the necessary assistance following her ordeal, especially during her return from Brazil in October last year to her home in Koronadal City. De Ocampo said the government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs, assisted her in coping with the situation and properly handled her case. “Thank you, President Duterte, and to everyone who helped me,” she said in the vernacular in an interview over radio station Bombo Radyo in Koronadal City. De Ocampo, who lives with her 24-year-old daughter, said she has since moved on from the unfortunate episode in Brazil and that she has already forgiven her former employer, whom she served for two years and seven months. She said she was also saddened with how things turned out for her. De Ocampo started working for Mauro’s family in Manila in 2017 and took care of her sick aunt for at least a year. When Mauro’s aunt died, she was invited to work for the former ambassador and eventually joined her in Brazil on April 19, 2018. She said she was initially treated well by her employer, but things eventually turned around and worsened during the early weeks of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic last year. Due to the lockdowns imposed by the government of Brazil, Mauro was forced to work at the ambassador’s residence, where the reported abuses that were captured by closed-circuit television or CCTV cameras took place. De Ocampo said she was supposed to go home in March last year but was forced to stay on after her flight was rescheduled several times due to the pandemic. She managed to return home after video footage of her alleged abuse in the hands of Mauro came out in October.         De Ocampo said the former ambassador called her up when she was undergoing mandatory quarantine upon returning home last year and apologized for everything that happened. “I don’t hold any grudge and had not even considered filing a case against her. I decided to leave everything to God,” she said. Mauro was recalled by DFA in October last year and eventually charged over the allegations of physical abuse against de Ocampo. President Duterte announced her dismissal from service on Monday evening. The dismissal order carries accessory penalties such as cancellation of eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits, and perpetual disqualification from holding public office. (PNA)
