Yang couldn't help the laugh that escaped her in that moment, her expression brightening up considerably. "Well, it was certainly an interesting shift!" Her voice was up lifted, thinking back too so very long ago, into a time and place that no longer existed. Erased in the sands of time and space to never be seen again. Yet there the woman was, as living proof it all had existed and happened in some distant place. "My first impression of Commander Hasashi was of a powerful and brooding man, one who commanded respect, and was well experienced. He cared for those under him, and the squadron became more like a family than anything else... I came to view him as one of my closest friends- until that fateful day that had everyone else killed... We were the only survivors. After that, we were well and truly equals, constantly lifting one another up, comforting, supportive. I became second in command as we rebuilt, and... Not long after that, we just followed our hearts, and became more. We still did our every days, but indulged in the love we had. It wasn't a secret by any means, and we were happy... for a time." Yang trailed off, frowning for a few heart beats. The memory of Commander Hasashi's death still hung heavy.
She shook it off quickly, and came back into reality, smile returning once more onto the woman's features. She had promised to remember, and always kept it. But still had to move forwards. "Grandmaster Hasashi of the Shirai Ryu, while he has the same soul, the same eyes, same face, he is still different in some ways, but so very alike in others. Still maintains that stubborn streak of his too! But he also cares more deeply than most people give him credit for. I met him and immediately felt like I was welcome, after being away so long. Even if he hadn't met me, it was like we clicked and knew one another. Maybe some deeper part of himself has some inkling, maybe a muscle memory- but I will never put expectations on him. His life, his choices. And everything he has done now has earned my full respect. He's pulled himself out of the fire and become the torch to bring others warmth. Still a righteous man despite that past."

“Do you ever need a ten minute hug but only from a specific person?” *smirks seductively* (Modern Hanzo to Yang)
Tumblr media
The woman had just finished the shower for the evening, having long since dried and ready for rest after the long day, pajamas always so comfortable. It had been more stressful than it had been active, far too many things to do at once. But it was strangely enough a welcome reprieve from the combat and battle fields that any could be sent out on. This? This was practically domestic and normal. And just as this thought had been crossing the mind, the Commander's voice filtered in. Allowing the second in command to relax visibly and give him a playful look in return. Despite every turn, all the odds, the agony which twisted each of them had been slowly warmed and softened. The two unlikely individual's tied together into deep affection and understanding in the most unlikely of ways. When one might look back on it all, it was startling where it began. But all the same, Yang, Talia Jones, found herself incredibly thankful, and would never trade this for all the worlds there may be.
This right here was perfect.
"Only ten minutes? I'd say I prefer a lot more than just that, Hanzo." Talia's voice teased. Every single nerve was alight with joy at such simple banter within the open invitation. Every step drawing her closer into Hasashi's orbit. How such opposites they were, yet always so similar in heart and mind, an enigma. One that filled in each others blanks so perfectly, like each were eroded puzzle pieces that still fit together. and speaking of fitting together, Talia now had placed herself right against Hanzo's figure, arms wrapped tightly around him as she slid into his lap upon the couch. Taking in the firm figure and warmth he gave off, as if he were a walking hearth and a welcome home all in one. "It shall become illegal for you too move from this spot for the next 30 minutes."
