I really can't thank Stampede's writers enough for going full insane "Knives loves his brother to such a multifaceted and disturbing degree that he made a (sex?) cult around worshipping them both together. He's made their reunion a high holy day. He's cast aside humanity's ideals so forcibly, he's embraced one of their strongest taboos".
He's the scariest sort of antagonist: the kind that cares for the protagonist so very, very much. He (thinks he) knows what's best for Vash, that Vash is sick and needs his big brother to take care of him. "Look, Vash, I made a cult for us! Now you can be loved by humans all you want without ever leaving my side, isn't that great?"
And then there's Vash, who despite being a Plant has fully embraced humanity's taboos, looking at Knives like "What's happened to you?!"
...So basically that conflict is catnip to me. :D It's there in other iterations, especially Maximum, but it's never been this cleanly tied to religious manipulation, sexuality, or even the nature of humanity in general! It'd be so fun to take a shot at writing it...
