I’m older and wiser now and I shan’t accept any audiobook slander. If you think it doesn’t count as “real reading” then you have a shallow understanding of storytelling.
#Oral storytelling & history#People who struggle with visual reading & benefit from audiobooks to supplement/replace physical books#Just the fact that Early Modern to Victorian texts are composed of English that is just recent enough to not need translations in most case#But use so many time/location/culture specific language that it can be impossible to parse without footnotes#“Oh I understood it completely” bravo to you then; but you will likely have no horse in the race of audiobooks in that case#Hell just being busy and enjoying having a book to listen to & think on while your hands and eyes are occupied with a task#Probably more benefits too!! The hell are people so pressed about “not real reading”
