Whether you're a senior, a low-income family, or a newcomer to Canada, the CDCP may cover many of your dental needs — and we're here to help you understand how.
. The plan is rolling out in phases, beginning with seniors and gradually expanding to include more age groups throughout 2025. If you're already approved or planning to apply, we can help you navigate the process and provide the dental care you deserve.
The CDCP in Scarborough covers a range of services, including exams, cleanings, x-rays, fillings, extractions, root canals, and even some types of dentures. Clinic Now Accepting Newly Eligible Patients Under Expanded Federal Program Aimed at Making Dental Care More Affordable for Millions of Canadians
LONDON, Ontario -- LightHouse Dental London is proud to announce its continued participation in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), as the federal government rolls out a major expansion of the program. Beginning in May 2025, the CDCP will extend coverage to millions of additional Canadians aged 18 to 64 who meet eligibility requirements. As an approved CDCP provider, LightHouse Dental London welcomes newly qualified patients and help ensure that high-quality dental care is accessible and affordable for everyone in the community.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan, first introduced in 2023, was first rolled out to seniors aged 65 and over, children under 18, and individuals receiving the Disability Tax Credit. The new expansion marks a milestone in the plan's mission to provide dental coverage to low- and moderate-income Canadians who do not have access to private dental insurance. This next phase will open applications for all eligible adults aged 18 to 64, with coverage beginning as early as June 2025.
"At LightHouse Dental, we believe that every Canadian deserves access to quality dental care—regardless of income or insurance status," said Dr. Gorsht, lead dentist at LightHouse Dental London. "We fully support the expansion of the CDCP and are proud to play our part in delivering the essential oral health services that help people live healthier, more confident lives."
Expanded Access, Expanded Services
The expansion of the CDCP will allow individuals and families with an adjusted net household income of less than $90,000 to apply for coverage. Those earning under $70,000 will receive full coverage, while those in the $70,000–$89,999 range will qualify for partial coverage, based on a co-pay model. To be eligible, applicants must not have access to private dental insurance and must have filed their 2024 tax return.
Applications will open in a staggered rollout throughout May 2025:
May 1 – Adults aged 55–64
May 15 – Adults aged 18–34
May 29 – Adults aged 35–54
Patients who are approved can begin receiving treatment as early as June 2025. LightHouse Dental is already accepting CDCP patients in London and will continue doing so as more Canadians become eligible under the expanded criteria.
Services covered under the CDCP include routine exams, x-rays, dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, fillings, extractions, root canals, complete and partial dentures, and emergency dental care. Advanced treatments such as crowns and certain surgical procedures may also be covered when pre-authorized.
As one of the few dental offices in London offering extended hours seven days a week, LightHouse Dental London is uniquely positioned to serve the influx of new CDCP patients, providing flexible appointment options and timely care. The clinic is conveniently located at 1850 Adelaide Street North and offers same-day emergency appointments, routine family dentistry, and full-service denture care.

Helping Patients Navigate Their Benefits
Navigating a new government program can feel confusing, especially for patients unfamiliar with how public coverage works. That's why the team at LightHouse Dental London is committed to helping patients understand the CDCP, assess their eligibility, and apply for benefits. The clinic's experienced staff can walk patients through the income verification process, help them complete their online application, and explain how much of their treatment will be covered based on their household income.
"We want to make it as easy as possible for patients to access care," said Amy, the office manager at LightHouse Dental London. "That means not just providing the dental services, but also supporting people in understanding the process, checking what's covered, and making sure they get the most out of their benefits. No one should have to delay treatment because of red tape or confusion."
Patients already enrolled in the program can also rely on LightHouse Dental London for CDCP-covered maintenance care and urgent procedures. From routine cleanings to emergency extractions or new dentures, the clinic ensures that every qualifying patient receives the attention they need—quickly, compassionately, and at little to no out-of-pocket cost.

Dental professionals across the country are stepping up to ensure the plan's success, and LightHouse Dental London is proud to be part of that effort locally.
"Dental health is essential to overall health, and we know that untreated oral problems can lead to much more serious issues," said Dr. Gorsht. "The CDCP is helping to close the gap for those who haven't been able to afford care in the past, and that's something we're passionate about. Whether it's a teenager who needs a cleaning or a senior who needs new dentures, we're here to help."

The Future of Dental Insurance: Trends, Growth, and Consumer Insights
The global dental insurance market is witnessing remarkable growth, driven by rising healthcare costs, increasing awareness of oral health, and technological advancements. Valued at USD 232.07 billion in 2024, the market is projected to reach approximately USD 566.34 billion by 2034, expanding at a robust CAGR of 9.33% from 2025 to 2034. As more people seek coverage to manage dental expenses, insurers are responding with innovative plans and policies that cater to diverse consumer needs.
Why Dental Insurance Matters More Than Ever
Dental insurance plays a crucial role in ensuring affordable and accessible oral healthcare. While it covers essential treatments such as cleanings, fillings, and preventive care, it typically excludes cosmetic procedures like teeth whitening and veneers. With increasing healthcare expenditures and the growing prevalence of dental disorders, having the right insurance plan helps individuals and families manage their oral health without financial strain.
Key Market Insights
North America leads the dental insurance market, holding 43% of the global share in 2024.
The Asia-Pacific region is set to experience the fastest growth in the coming years.
Dental Preferred Provider Organizations (DPPO) remain the most popular insurance option.
The Dental Health Maintenance Organizations (DHMO) segment is expanding due to its cost-effective benefits.
Senior citizens constitute the largest demographic group opting for dental insurance.
The adult segment is anticipated to grow at a significant rate, driven by rising awareness and employer-backed dental plans.
How AI is Revolutionizing Dental Insurance
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the dental insurance sector by automating claims processing, enhancing verification, and reducing errors. AI-driven tools can efficiently organize patient data, identify discrepancies in real-time, and improve reimbursement accuracy. By incorporating AI, insurers can enhance workflow automation, increase efficiency, and provide a seamless experience for policyholders.
Market Trends and Developments
England’s Push for Expanded Coverage: In November 2024, the Conservative Government of England announced a target of 1.5 million additional dental treatments for 2024-25, boosting accessibility.
Military Family Support: The TRICARE Dental Program launched a service in September 2024 that automatically enrolls military children at age one, ensuring early dental care.
Canada’s Expanded Coverage: The Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is expanding access for children under 18 in lower-income households, reducing financial burdens for families.
Challenges in the Market
Despite its growth, the dental insurance industry faces economic challenges. The high cost of insurance premiums makes it difficult for low- and middle-income individuals to afford coverage. As a result, insurers are working to introduce more budget-friendly options to increase adoption.
Opportunities in Customization
The future of dental insurance lies in offering flexible, tailored plans. Employers are increasingly providing dental coverage as part of workplace benefits, boosting accessibility. Additionally, insurers are launching customized plans to meet specific consumer needs, such as no-network and worldwide coverage, allowing patients to seek dental care globally.
The Rise of Preventive and Basic Plans
Preventive Coverage Leads the Market: Preventive dentistry, including routine check-ups, cleanings, and X-rays, dominated the market in 2024. Many insurers offer full coverage for preventive services, encouraging regular dental visits.
Basic Coverage Gains Popularity: Basic insurance plans covering fillings, extractions, and root canals are becoming a preferred choice due to their affordability and tax benefits. With millions of root canal procedures performed annually, demand for such plans is on the rise.
What’s Next for the Dental Insurance Industry?
As oral healthcare costs continue to rise, more individuals are turning to insurance for financial security. The integration of AI, the introduction of innovative policies, and the expansion of government-backed programs are shaping the future of dental insurance. With increasing customization and accessibility, insurers are ensuring that more people can maintain optimal oral health without breaking the bank.

Understanding the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP): What Families Need to Know
Oral health is essential to overall health, yet for many Canadian families, the cost of dental care has been a significant barrier. The introduction of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) marks a transformative step in ensuring that all Canadians, especially those with limited resources, have access to necessary dental care. At Saranya Dental, we’re here to help you understand what the CDCP means for you and your family.
What Is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
The CDCP is a federal initiative launched to provide financial support for essential dental care to uninsured Canadians with household incomes below a certain threshold. It’s designed to make dental care accessible to those who may not have previously been able to afford it. The program covers routine dental services, including exams, cleanings, X-rays, and basic restorative procedures such as fillings and extractions.
Who Is Eligible for the CDCP?
Eligibility for the CDCP depends on several factors, including:
Household Income: Families with an annual income below $90,000 qualify for varying levels of coverage.
Full coverage is available for households earning less than $70,000 annually.
Partial coverage is available for those earning between $70,000 and $90,000.
Insurance Status: The program is intended for those who do not have private dental insurance.
Age and Family Members: Initial phases of the plan focused on children under 12, but the plan aims to expand to cover all eligible Canadians by 2025.
What Does the Plan Cover?
The CDCP provides coverage for essential dental services, which may include:
Preventive Care: Routine exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants.
Diagnostic Services: X-rays and oral health assessments.
Basic Restorative Care: Fillings, crowns, and extractions.
Emergency Dental Care: Treatment for pain or infection.
Cosmetic procedures such as teeth whitening are not covered, as the focus is on necessary dental care.
How to Apply for the CDCP
Applying for the CDCP is straightforward:
Check Your Eligibility: Use the federal government’s resources or consult with our team at Saranya Dental to determine your qualification.
Submit an Application: Applications can be completed online through a secure portal or by mail.
Receive Confirmation: Once approved, you’ll receive instructions on how to access the benefits.
Our team can guide you through the application process and ensure you have all the necessary documentation.
Why the CDCP Matters
Untreated dental issues can lead to pain, difficulty eating, and even systemic health problems. By removing financial barriers, the CDCP aims to improve overall health outcomes for Canadians. For families, this means:
Healthier Smiles for Kids: Preventing cavities and ensuring proper dental development.
Peace of Mind for Parents: Knowing that essential care is within reach.
Long-Term Savings: Preventive care reduces the risk of costly emergency procedures down the line.
How Saranya Dental Supports Your Family
At Saranya Dental, we are committed to providing exceptional care to all our patients, regardless of financial circumstances. If you’re eligible for the CDCP, our knowledgeable team will help you navigate the process and maximize your benefits. We believe every family deserves a healthy, confident smile.Take the First Step Towards Better Oral Health If you think you may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Saranya Dental.
