Wynonna Earp 2x02 Shed your Skin
Spoilers disclaimer (please read before sending messages or writing comments.)

Stray thoughts
1) Holy fuck!
Tumblr media
Did he really take her up on that shower offer? Or is this a dream? Please not let it be a dream!
2) I guess the lady watching them takes the romance out of it. Kind of? I mean, you never know with these two. Oh, look, Jeremy’s also there!
Tumblr media
3) Is it a demon turd?
Tumblr media
I’d be hella scared, too, if something jumped at me out of a porta-potty…
4) Oh, Nicole, you should know better by now than to dismiss someone’s report about strange shenanigans…
5) Nicole is still kind of pissed at Waverly for leaving her out of the Black Badge force, but tbh, Waverly is not really Waverly right now, so I’m not counting this as their first fight. Also, what was Nicole looking at over Waverly’s shoulder…?
Tumblr media
That’s odd.
6) This lady has some balls, arriving at Purgatory and questioning everyone’s role in the demon hunting business. Apart from barking orders and being a nasty bitch, what’s her use?
7) So the real estate lady – Mercedes Gardner, I think – is one of Willa’s school friends, and she’s here to buy a lot of properties because, guess what?, property value goes down in a town where a lot of people get murdered by demons and the whole town gets poisoned every other Wednesday. It’s a very interesting point to be brought up in a supernatural show, you know?
8) WTF IS THAT?
Tumblr media
And why did it smell like Willa?
9) Ugh, what kind of demons cocoons its victims after jumping at them out of a toilet?
Tumblr media
10) ?
Tumblr media
Are we looking at a Breaking Bad scenario? What does Doc want to “cook”?
11) Doc is getting the bar. That’s more up his alley.
12) WTF! Creepy-crawlies from HELL are never a good sign!
Tumblr media
13) I LOVE WYNONNA!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
14) Yep, I love her…
WAVERLY: But what do we do with demon spidey? WYNONNA: Put it on Lucado's desk with a note from me that says…
Tumblr media
15) What’s Doc up to? I can’t figure it out! What was he trying to sell to that girl, and why is he offering “protection” now?
16) Why… would ANYONE… volunteer this information after being threatened? I LOVE HIM ALREADY.
Tumblr media
Wynonna finds him annoying, Waverly kind of likes him, and he’s a fan of Doc. Kind of reminds me of Andrew Wells.
17) Wynonna feels like she’s being haunted by Willa because of the perfume, but it turns out it was her mom’s perfume. And Waverly is haunted in a different way – she can’t forget Bobo’s words about her not being an Earp. Whose daughter is she, though? And why isn’t she talking about this with Wynonna?
18) Is he… hitting on Doc? Or is this more of a bromance kind of vibe?
Tumblr media
Also, hard SAME.
19) Oh, this bitch is gonna get cocooned soon…
Tumblr media
20) Oh, damn, I was loving every little thing about this conversation…
WYNONNA: I thought I could keep the team together. I can't be the leader. I can't. I'm only good at busting the leader's balls. DOC: It is alright to miss him, Wynonna. WYNONNA: I didn't know when we rescued Dolls, we wouldn't get to keep him. DOC: He cannot come back here. This is the first place they will look for him. WYNONNA: I never thought I'd see you again either. And then, at the party there you were. DOC: As were you. Both of you. WYNONNA: I would never have kissed him if I didn't think that you were dead. DOC: Come now, Wynonna, we never lied to each other. You are free to kiss whoever you like.
And then…
DOC: As long as they want you to.
Tumblr media
Why is he putting so much distance between them? It’s clear he wants her and possibly loves her, and let’s be real, Doc is prone to think with his blood instead of his head, so why is he rejecting her?
Back to their conversation, I really like how Wynonna is tough but also vulnerable and is not afraid to show her weaknesses. She opens up so easily to the people she loves, and I truly love that about her because it’s something that doesn’t come easy for me. I also love how Doc doesn’t hold the fact that she has feelings for Dolls against her because why would he? But it would be very easy for the writers to write them as that Male, you know? He understands and accepts the connection between Dolls and Wynonna.
The one thing I didn’t like – even if I ship these two – is how quickly she dismissed her kiss with Dolls by saying she wouldn’t have kissed Dolls had she known Doc would come back because it kind of cheapens her feelings for both of them. It makes it look as though she only saw Dolls as a stand-in or a scratching post, and as though her feelings for Doc are only relevant as long as he is physically in the picture.
Why is he rejecting her, though? It’s driving me nuts!
21) Okay, so the creepy-crawler has brothers and sisters…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
22) Again, a very interesting point of view from a revenant…
EARL: All I dream about is not having to run anymore. WYNONNA: I dream of not having to chase your sorry asses. EARL: It's almost like we're cursed. WYNONNA: I don't know who hates it more, you or me. EARL: We're the ones getting sucked into Hell in a never-ending loop that eats away  at our sanities, so… WYNONNA: You're right. It's totally me. EARL: I don't want to die. WYNONNA: Well, you're in luck. I've just been promised a new way to break the curse. Sold my soul to Black Badge to get it, but might mean not having to kill everyone in sight. EARL: Wait, so we could all be free?
Sometimes the underlying meaning gets lost with all the demons and shooting and whatnot, but these demons are literally in purgatory, cursed to be stuck there for all eternity. They’re in this endless loop of being chased and killed by Earps only to return to earth to get chased and killed by Earps again. It never ends. And I guess working for Bobo gave them some kind of purpose but more importantly, some hope. Hope that the curse could be broken somehow. And that’s gone now.
23) What did he get from the safe?!
Tumblr media
And more importantly, why did he want her to know it was him?
24) Okay, he stole documents which prove that Lucado paid mercenaries to off Dolls. And he’s using this information to bribe her. For money. To buy the bar. Or cook whatever he’s going to cook there. I really thought he was going to ask her to pardon Dolls… And on that note, what did Dolls say? Was the message for Lucado?
25) Yep, Teacher Pet/Bad Eggs vibes…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
26) Uh-oh… there are two of these thingies…
Tumblr media
27) A seal in a basement at an old high school building?
Tumblr media
Purgatory is looking a lot like Sunnnydale…
28) Not gonna lie, this was hot as fuck...
Tumblr media
But I don’t know how I feel about it happening while Waverly is not wholly Waverly? Is she possessed all the time? Does that black-eyes thingy take control of her at times? Was she herself right now? I hope we get answers to all of these questions…
29) Ugh, Wynonna was opening up to Doc yet again and he turned her down. Again. All because of the cooking going on downstairs. Reverse engineering? Synthesizing? What the hell are they up to?!
30) I like how both sisters are dealing with Willa’s death very differently. Wynonna is haunted and devastated, and Waverly is grateful Willa is gone. They both acknowledge their own feelings, but don’t give each other grief for not sharing them. I gotta say, I doubted burning all her stuff was going to do the trick. The shit that went down with Willa is deep, and it goes all the way back to their childhood, so it’s going to take a lot of time to come to terms with it.
31) YUCK! NO WONDER SHE FUCKING TASTES DIFFERENT! THIS IS HER DIET?!
Tumblr media
32) This episode was okay-ish, but it makes sense. It’s early in the season, and there are many things to be set up. I wonder when we’ll find out about what’s going with Waverly, and when Dolls will be back. He’s still in the title credits, so he is going to be back for sure. And what the hell is Doc up to?!
33)  Hope you enjoyed my recap, and, as usual, if you’ve got this far, thank you for reading! If you enjoy my recaps and my blog, please consider supporting it on ko-fi.Thanks!

Genesis 44
Genesis 44
1 And he commanded the steward
Of his house, saying "Fill ill-starred
The men's sacks with food, as much as
They can carry, and put what has
Each man in money in the mouth
Of his sack. 2 "Also put for drouth
My cup, the silver cup, into
The youngest's sack's mouth and his due
Of money for the corn." So he
Did according to the word he,
Joseph had spoken. 3 As soon as
The morning dawned, the men whereas
Were sent away, their donkeys too.
4 When they had gone out of the view
And city, and were not yet far
Off, Joseph said to his steward,
"Get up, follow the men, and when
You overtake them, tell the men,
'Why have you repaid evil for
Good? 5 'Is not this the one in store
From which my lord drinks, and with which
He indeed divines? What a stitch
Of evil you've done doing so.'"
So the steward set out to go.
The plot of Joseph was well tried and true,
Beloved, but what the steward had to do
Was evil, since he did not know the case.
It's civil servants always blast the race,
And not the wicked tyrants on the throne.
It's not the president, but customs crone
That blights the world with rot and tyranny.
Not from the kings but servants set us free.
Blame not the servant, o my soul, for he
Better than Moses obeys Enoch's fee,
Ready to drown a boy before denying
The command of his master in the lying.
The inward and the outward meaning tries
Each soul and lays the choice before its eyes.
6 And he overtook them, and he
Spoke to them these same words and free.
7 And they said to him, "Why does my
Lord say these words? Be it not nigh
To us that your servants should do
Such thing. 8 "Look, we brought back to you
From land of Canaan the money
Which we found in our sacks' mouths free.
How then could we steal silver, gold
From your lord's house? 9 "Now then be bold,
With whomsoever it is found,
Let him die, and we shall be bound
As my lord's slaves."10 And he said "Now
Also let it be just done how
You have spoken, he with whom it
Is found shall be my slave befit,
And you shall all be blameless then."
The innocent call down the curse of heaven
Upon their own heads, knowing not the leaven
Of spite the palace dweller has in store
To crush the innocent by plot and gore.
The wily judge knows how to treat the words
Of innocent ones caught among the turds
Of intrigue, and to make himself seem just
While trampling hungry poor into the dust.
I've learned I hope the lesson what to do,
When questioned by authorities, be true
To truth and self best by a silent tongue,
Not knowing vested interests, to be hung.
Let me live so, Beloved, that no blame can
Be cast on me, then sealed lips are the plan.
11 So each man quickly let down his
Sack to the ground, and as it is
Each opened his sack. 12 So he searched.
He started with the oldest perched
And left off with the youngest, and
The cup was in Benjamin's sack.
The silver cup is always in the store
Of innocence. The evidence is more
In pointing to deceiver plot to frame.
The condemned are more often not to blame.
Yet wheels turn on and the protected now
Tomorrow fall before the biting plough.
The silver plaited on the palm turns black
And buys no more the pleasures nor the slack.
Slight comfort this to thousands in their need
Who see with horror silver in the seed.
Though justice comes tomorrow, then it's late,
And those today have time to meet their fate.
Perhaps tomorrow some souls will gain time
Because a felon toppled paid his crime.
13 They tore their clothes, and then went back
With donkeys loaded to the city,
To see the man and beg for pity.
14 So Judah and his brothers came
To Joseph's house, and he was game,
Still there, and they fell before him
On the ground, since the dream was dim.
15 And Joseph said to them, "What deed
Is this you have done to succeed?
Did you not know that such a man
As I can divine, surely can?"
The touching thing about these men of old
Is that they never let donkeys go cold,
But in their direst hour remember beast
And tenderly see to their needs at least,
While Joseph pretends to divine, not guess,
The future by his powers of no and yes.
Even the good and fair sometimes for gain
Confirm the superstitions of the vain,
And let them fear eternal punishment,
Because they have no eyes and ears are spent.
Be wise, my soul, and do not speak contrary
To popes who have both power and truth to parry.
There is no winning calling balls and strikes.
Beloved, I give up limousines for bikes.
16 Then Judah said "What shall we say
To my lord? What shall we speak, say?
Or how shall we clear ourselves here?
Ælohim has made to appear
Iniquity of your servants,
Here we are, my lord's recompense,
Slaves all, both we and he also
With whom the cup was found to go."
The wisdom of Judah is great I see.
When framed and damned he still sees regency
Of divine providence. Though innocent,
He knows You guide the outcome with consent.
He shows more patience before his sentence
Than Joseph was when in his innocence
He entered prison to serve there as seer
Of secrets for the convicts that came near.
Judah does not know what Your plan may be,
But firmly stands prepared for jeopardy.
I do not ask for courage in the face
Of such trials here that Judah had to face,
Nor for his patience in the face of wrong.
I only ask, Beloved, You lead my song.
17 But he said "Far be it from me
That I should do so to the free,
The man in whose hand the cup was
Shall be my slave, and that's as does.
And as for you, go up in peace
To your father in full release."
Now Joseph gives his brothers their good chance
To sell once more a brother, song and dance,
Into Egypt and into slavery.
They did it once for spite, now to be free
They come once more before the same temptation.
It's praise, Beloved, to You to find what's hard
One time that saw my feet slip on the shard,
Come round again and passes with elation,
Without an effort or a condemnation.
Let's see if Joseph's brothers pass the bill.
I have a sneaking feeling that they will.
The road to heaven on earth is round and round
Upon the scintillating slaughter ground,
There You by sacrificial sparks are found.
Week 11
18 Then Judah came near to him and
Said "O my lord, please lend a hand
And let your servant speak a word
In my lord's hearing, and not stirred
To anger against your servant,
For you are Pharaoh's adjutant.
19 "My lord asked his servants, saying
'Have you father or brotherling?'
20 "And we said to my lord, 'Indeed,
We have father, old man agreed,
And a child of his old age, who
Is young, his brother is dead too,
And he alone is left of his
Mother's children, and indeed his
Father loves him.' 21 "And then you said
To your servants, 'Bring him down led
To me, that I may set my eyes
On him.' 22 "And we gave our replies
To my lord, 'The lad cannot leave
His father, for if he should leave
His father, his father would die.'
23 "But you said to your servants, 'Fie,
Unless your youngest brother comes
Down with you, you shall not for plums
See my face any more.' 24 "So it
Was, when we went up there to sit
With your servant my father, that
We told him my lord's words out flat.
25 "And our father said 'Go back and
Buy some food for our little band.'
26 "But we said 'We cannot go down,
If our youngest brother in gown
Is with us, then we will go down,
For we may not see the man's face
Except our youngest's in the place.'
27 "Then your servant my father said
To us, 'You know my wife had bred
And borne me two sons, 28 'and the one
Went out from me, and then I said
"Surely he's torn to pieces, done,"
And I have not seen since that son.
29 'But if you take this one from me
Also, and some calamity
Befalls him, you shall bring down my
Grey hair with sorrow under sky
And to the grave.' 30 "Now therefore, when
I come to your servant my father,
And the lad is not with the men,
Since his life is bound up the rather
In the lad's life, 31 "it will happen,
When he sees lad's not with the men,
That he will die. So your servants
Will bring down the grey hair's expense
Of your servant our father by
Sorrow to the grave under sky.
32 "For your servant became surety
For the lad to my father free,
Saying 'If I do not bring him
Back to you, then I shall be dim
To bear the blame before my father
Forever and to carry bother.'
33 "Now therefore, please let your servant
Remain as lad's executant,
As a slave to my lord, and let
The lad go up on donkey set
With his brothers. 34 "For how shall I
Go up to my father the by
If the lad is not with me, lest
Perhaps I see the evil pest
That would come on my father's chest?"
I put a sonnet here perversely set,
While reader waits results with bated breath,
And hangman stops with judge to make a bet,
And the whole courtroom's silent as the death
To see what Joseph's hand's about to do.
My sonnet is in praise of Judah's speech
That shines with love to father and to each
Brother and brother's child within his reach.
Judah, the harlot monger's become new.
I praise You, my Beloved, for what men do,
Who go beyond the human hope and shape
To act a divine play in this landscape.
May every man and woman have Your grace
To live and love in Judah's trysting place.

I’m excited today.  Francisco Cordoba has announced his new series.  Those of us who have read the series are bursting at the seams with glee.   Check out The Naked Reviewerson Wed for a review!!
After two and a half years The Horsemen of Golegã was unleashed on the world Sept 1, 2017 with Book 1 in the 8 book series, Bosanquet. What do you do when your BFF’s dream vacation turns out to be your worst nightmare?
After a naïve relationship decision leaves Candice with a handprint on her face and no job, all she wants is to hide in a corner and lick her wounds. But when bestie Fiona comes begging for a last minute travel companion, what else can a true friend do but go along for the ride?
Fast forward to the bustling streets of Golegã during Portugal’s International Horse Fair. Where stunning horses and cocky macho men are every woman’s wet dream. Every woman except for Candice, that is. Horses are her least favorite animal and, right now, men rank a close second.
Determined to steer clear of arrogant males; pursued by a series of psychotic text messages, a crazed cavaleiro, and a vicious black stallion, Candice once again questions her judgment. The only thing keeping her sane is curiosity over the fascinating stranger who seems as drawn to her as she is to him. Tall, ruggedly handsome, and enigmatic, Gaspar Bosanquet is a man like no other.
Will a night in his arms change Candice’s mind about men? Or will one impulsive act become her biggest blunder yet? Only one thing is certain, neither Candice nor Bosanquet will ever be the same again.
Join them on their journey! Welcome to Francisco Cordoba’s debut novella. Available on Amazon
Explicit sex (tasteful), and some swearing.
And now to The First Chapter.
Grab your seat for a wonderful ride.
Chapter 1
“You are so going to pay for this,” Candice said, propped against her friend and using the edge of the curb to scrape fresh, sweetly pungent manure off her discolored sandal. “I already paid for it,” Fiona replied with a smile. Candice’s efforts were futile. The muck was a magnet for the sand and sawdust spread all over the road. Combined, these substances created a stinky, lumpy minefield with each pile issuing a siren-call just for her feet. Her once pristine footwear was stained beyond repair. She sighed and scraped again. “I cannot believe you lied to me.” “I didn’t—” Fiona’s words disappeared beneath the whoops and clattering hooves of a passing cavalcade. A fresh waft of equine and man sweat assailed Candice, causing her to breathe through her mouth while her friend flared her nostrils and grinned. When the noise had subsided to the general dull roar of the crowd, Fiona tried again. “I didn’t lie. I told you there’d be horses. You should’ve dressed appropriately.” “You told me there’d be a few horses.” Candice swept an arm toward a large open area and the wide track surrounding it, both were surfaced with the sand-sawdust mix. A low wood rail fence separated the open area from the track—the ‘manga’ the locals called it, making Candice view the scene through the lens of Japanese anime—and a similar fence separated the track from the road. Both the manga and the central ring were packed with horses—led, ridden, and driven. The street the girls stood on thronged with people and, inevitably, more horses. “Since when does a cast of thousands count as a few?” “It’s all in the perception. One person’s few is another person’s too many or not enough, just like one woman’s adequate is another woman’s too damn small or holy crap that’s huge. Besides, I had no idea it would be like this.” A broad grin split Fiona’s face. “Isn’t it fabulous?” Candice stopped scraping and started walking, slippery sandals skidding on the damp, uneven sidewalk. She’d only been here a couple of hours and already she was beginning to hate the artistic Portuguese mosaic street pavement. If she escaped this week without a sprained ankle at the very least, it would be a miracle. The squishiness between her toes made her shudder. “No. It is not fabulous,” she snapped over her shoulder. “It’s wet, it’s cold—you said Portugal was a warm country. It’s crowded—you said Golegã was a small town. It’s overrun with horses and cowboys, and horse shit and testicles. And this is different from Calgary, how? Ahhhhh!” Her arms wind-milled as the ground slid away under her feet. She caught a glimpse of gooey sandals against gray sky a second before her ass hit the road. “Crap!” “That hurt.” Fiona squatted beside her, green eyes full of sympathy. “You okay?” “Fine.” Candice sighed. “I always thought dignity was overrated anyway.” She examined her bleeding hand and slimed feet, and repeated her question. “And this is different from Calgary, how?” Fiona shrugged. “But look at it this way, Cans. You needed to get away from your unpleasant boyfriend—” “He’s not my boyfriend!” “—your cougar mother and her cubs—” “Two of them. Two!” “—your gay father and his fiancé—” Candice rolled her eyes. “Don’t need the litany, Fifs.” Fiona rolled on relentlessly. “—your self-centered brothers—” “As long as they’re happy.” Candice mimicked her brothers’ favorite words to her every time she complained about their parents’ split and new alternative lifestyles. “—and the dead-end job you got fired from.” “Behavior unbecoming of an employee.” Candice stretched her face and voice into a caricature of her haughty boss and surrounded her words with air quotes. “And your grief.” Fiona ended her list in a softer tone and paused before revving up again. “Coming with me provided a much-needed change. Think of it as a catalyst to propel your life in a whole new direction. Carpe diem and all that.” “The way I see it,” Candice growled, holding her sore and filthy hand to one side, “I was sitting in shit there, and I’m sitting in shit here.” She wiped the hand on her no-longer-white skirt. “The only difference is at home I spoke the language, and when I ordered a cup of coffee, I got a cup of coffee, not a thimbleful of black tar that would melt the hide off a rhino.” “Don’t be like that.” Fiona hauled her to her feet and started dusting her down, paused, and wiped her hands on the clean sleeve of Candice’s blouse. “Hey!” Fiona shrugged. “Sorry, didn’t want to get my clothes dirty, and this is wrecked already. Look, let’s go back to the hotel and get you cleaned up. Then we can go for dinner at that little café and ogle the eye candy while we eat.” Candice cringed but followed in silence as Fiona wound through crowds of olive-skinned men in tight black pants, short black jackets, and flat-crowned black hats. As far as she could tell, they were the same as the cowboys back home, with possibly better fashion sense. But for all their tight sexy attire, they were still ruled by testosterone, thinking themselves as virile and macho as the stallions they rode. Fiona seemed as much besotted by the men as by the horses she claimed to have come to see. But for Candice, fresh out of a brief and toxic interlude too short to even be termed a relationship, and unhappy with the whole cowboy scene she’d never even pretended to understand, this seven-day trip to Portugal’s National Horse Fair had rapidly assumed the guise of a nightmare. Fiona was footing the bill, but only because she hated to do anything alone. She’d planned the trip with equally-horse-crazy-man-crazy-Sarah, and Candice had looked forward to a solitary seven days secure behind the locked door of their apartment, licking her wounds and reading through the contents of box Hist. 2 from Ted’s collection. But Sarah had backed out at the last minute, and Fiona had come begging. Unable to leave her best friend in the lurch, Candice-the-mug-of-a-roommate and Candice-the-fired-without-a-reference and Candice-the-girl-with-the-most-fucked-up-family-in-the-world had smilingly agreed that a girl’s-only holiday in sunny Portugal would be just the thing. She’d closed the flaps on Hist. 2, packed Napoleon’s Wars: An International History into her travel bag and, ignoring her discomfort at having someone else pay for what she couldn’t afford, headed to the airport. There would be a few horses in Golegã. Fiona had been up front about that. It was a horse fair after all. For her friend, Candice reckoned a few—a few—horses could be coped with. But holy hell, this was never a few, and if this god-forsaken town had seen sun in the last month, she’d be amazed to hear it. Ahead of her, Fiona skirted a large pile of fresh droppings with a supple sway of her hips and barely a glance. Candice, envious of her friend’s grace, tried to do the same and promptly stepped on a turd ball. Her foot skidded, but a lucky grab at the nearby fence kept her upright. Muttering curses, she scraped her sandal on the lowest bar of the barrier and grimaced at the drab green stain on her ankle. “You coming, Cans?” Fiona called through the crowd. “In a minute.” After one final, pointless wipe, Candice moved to catch up. A large gray horse overtook her, clopping through a puddle, splashing her legs with malodorous water droplets. A brown one passed in the opposite direction, splattering her with yet more wet filth. The gray sky singled her out for the heaviest of the drizzle. Candice sighed. Fiona looked her up and down. “You’re a mess.” Without a word, Candice stomped past her into the heaving sea of masculinity. And then there were the men. Yes, the clothes were a definite plus, but the men inside the clothes? The muscles and other man bits were clearly in all the right places, but the hormones dripped right along with the sweat. So much sweat, human and equine, plastered all over them, wafting about them, worn like some super-macho membership badge. And the shit. So much shit; although, in fairness, she couldn’t blame the men for that directly.” “Candice, watch—” This time there was no fence to grab. “Ahh-ahhhhh! Ouch!” And the landing hurt. “—out.” Fiona gazed down at her, clearly fighting to keep a straight face. “Again? Really?” “Fuck off,” Candice snarled. “Don’t you think you’re pushing credulity just a bit?” Fiona abandoned any attempt to control her expression. “And right outside the hotel? I thought you didn’t like drawing attention to yourself?” “I may assist you, senhorita?” A deep, accented male voice blended with Fiona’s final words. “Oh. Fuck. Right. Off,” Candice said, loud and clear.
Book 2, The Great Gaspar Sept 15. Book 3, Loving North Sept 29 Book 4, Seeking Home coming in October.  Can’t wait! Book 5, A Dama and Book 6 Keeper’s Wife coming in November Book 7, The Lone Horseman and Book 8, Candice will be out in December. If Life happens, they’ll be out in early 2018.
