Honda Legend Hybrid Full Sized Sedan (Last Gen Designed)

What if... Honda decided to add this full sized sedan to their line up to Rival the Avalon and the Mazda 9 Sedan? Returning the Legend name to Honda, this would be a full sized sedan in their line up for the US market. Equipped with a V6 hybrid motor, the hybrid system would be assisting power to all four wheels working with the V6 motor. This would be much larger than the accord and offering leather as well as high end cloth materials for the interior, along with various choices for wood veneers for the accents. This model would not have a CVT transmission, but rather a return to gear driven transmissions with an 8 speed and for the higher end a 10 speed automatic transmission.

They’re 1610kg from factory in fwd guise, and have a k24 motor from factory, along with a very long wheelbase and a surprisingly low centre of gravity.

It has McPherson struts up front and the same rear multi link setup as every other irs Honda of the early 2000s. It would need a manual conversion as they were only sold as autos or cvts but that would t be too tricky.

The best thing about the kerb weight is that it’s a luxurious people mover, making it very very capable of shedding lots of weight. I’d argue you could get the kerb weight down to 1200kg just by getting rid of the seats, rear glass, interior wiring and trim and the sliding door mechanisms and rear hatch.

It wouldn’t take much to move the seating position back about a foot, make it a bit better balanced and improve the seating position.

People have been racing them in lemons for a while as the US versions came with a 3.7L v6 that made around 300hp from factory, but imagining one even further stripped, suspension jacked up and completely caged out, it would be incredible seeing it sliding through a forest.

It’s never really had any sort of off-road testing but assuming it’s built to the same spec as the dc5 and CL9 it should be very very strong and maybe even have to carry over parts.

My Top 10 ICE-powered JDM Executive Midsize FF Sedans

The third-generation Mazda 6 will go down in history as the last JDM D-Segment front-wheel-drive saloon to be powered by internal combustion and with production ending this April, this race is now sadly extinct due to the never-ending rise of crossovers and SUVs.

As this species is set to be extinct in the springtime, it's time for me to jot down my top 10 JDM executive midsize front-wheel-drive sedans powered by internal combustion.

10) Sixth-generation Toyota Camry - At the end of 1996, the Camry Gracia was launched in sedan and estate variants. The Gracia is the luxury alternative to the Camry and it served as the replacement for both the Camry Prominent and the US-built Scepter. With the fifth-generation Camry's production ending in the summer of 1998, the Camry Gracia took its place and it was known as the sixth-generation Camry when it was facelifted in 1999. Honda CR-X Hatchback Coupe Concept

What if... Honda brought back this fun compact hatchback coupe to their line up. In this scenario, it would be equipped with a 1.4L turbo inline 4 cylinder motor with an ample amount of play power. It would also keep it's front wheel drive plateform as in previous iterations of this style of coupe. And as an added bonus, an optional manual transmission that would be offered along side a CVT transmission option.

time attack build idea: low drag FWD 

Base car:  Gen2 Honda Insight shell, completely stripped out of engine and hybrid parts. The chassis is identical to a gen2 fit/jazz from the firewall forward and shares all of the same suspension components, but has 100mm lower roof line and 50mm longer wheelbase, while also having the fuel tank located under the backseats and the hybrid unit under the boot, making it possible to fit a pretty decent diffuser/tunnel out the back of the car. the front of the car is pretty sad looking but being essentially a Fit front end means you can in theory swap a Fit or Fit sport front on the car to make it a bit more fun, but you could also try your luck fitting a CRZ front on the car, but i have a feeling its slightly narrower.

i think you could get the overall kerb weight down from 1230kg to around 1000kg with the hybrid system and interior weighing in the realm of 200kg. i think the CVT by itself is about 40kg heavier than a K series manual box.

Engine: Being based on the Gen2 Fit means that you can comfortably fit a K24 turbo motor in the front of the car, so thats sorted. 400hp at the wheels is plenty. high gearing for big top speeds. 

Suspension: Raid the spoon sports catalogue. big brakes and the biggest wheels you can fit. 

Aero: Minimal downforce, minimal drag. Small front splitter to clean up the front airflow, small rear wing with enough downforce to help with stability more than outright downforce. most of the downforce will come from the underbody, going for full venturi tunnels. the rear suspension complicates the air flow, but we wont get into that.
