wada sez: That's Classics Skywarp, but the toy's just being used as a generic Seeker. Very odd characterisation of Optimus Prime here (although one which will be familiar to modern audiences who have seen five Transformers movies directed by Michael Bay), which Lunsford would try to justify on Seibertron: “On the one hand, maybe I did overlook that small fact. However, Prime is a soldier, and I was portraying him as a "General" of sorts, and like everyone else in the piece, maybe has "dehumanized" their enemy over time. Or, maybe Bee's grief is misconstrueing [sic] Prime's words.”

wada sez: Never trust a landlord! Overlord had a cameo in the crowds at the arena in Megatron Origin and otherwise would get his breakout role in Last Stand of the Wreckers; Scorponok meanwhile was seen in the present day pursuing his own plans in Simon Furman’s comics, starting with Spotlight: Ultra Magnus. The insignia in the background of the last panel is that of the security services, seen in the funeral scene in the miniseries. I’m not sure who that red/yellow bot is in the background of the first panel. “To Mega Therion” is Greek for “The Great Beast”, from the Bible; it was coincidentally used a year later for the title of a chapter of the Alternity story. Clean inks below.

wada sez: A long-standing Japanese Generation 1 fan-theory was that Sixshot and Victory Greatshot were in fact the same individual. Sixshot had a very different ninja-inspired portrayal in The Headmasters (which, of course, replaced “The Rebirth” in Japan), which saw Sixshot undergoing a redemption arc by the end of the series. The bigger twist here, though, is that Cobra ninja Storm Shadow was instrumental in his adoption of a new identity! This is a beautifully-composed photocomic; the black-and-white presentation seems to mirror Storm Shadow’s opening line, “Ready to lose the colors [...]?”

wada sez: An offhanded beat in the first part of the Dreamwave Armada arc “Worlds Collide” has Megatron mention he’s put the traitorous Destruction Mini-Con Team in “the punishment cube”—presumably, seen here! Their ultimate fate is never specified, with Megatron saying in the last issue of the series “Let’s just say we’re all better off without them!” So this photocomic serves to fill in the gap.

wada sez: Photocomics were rare as part of the Mosaic project; I’m glad to see that the deviantART commenters were surprisingly complimentary towards this one on the whole! I love the little toy soldiers in this one. Cappellozza has used something like Photoshop’s “posterize” effect to reduce the colour depth of the photos, as a faux-illustration affectation. The stars of this comic are all Takara-exclusive characters, using Diaclone colourations of the molds that went on to become Tracks, Skids, and Sideswipe; over the years, almost all the Diaclone colour schemes have been given independent identities. Crosscut and Road Rage are depicted as diplomat and bodyguard respectively, in keeping with their original profiles; they were originally sold as an e-HOBBY exclusive two-pack. Tigertrack, meanwhile, was a magazine mail-away made available about a year later; he doesn’t get much of a showing here.
