IAS interview types
There are two main types of interviews conducted during IAS selection – preliminary interview and final interview.
Pre-interview: The pre-interview is also called "screening" or "self-testing". It is done by a panel of experts to assess the general character, qualifications and mental health of the candidate. The first interview usually lasts 30-40 minutes, and a panel of judges examines the candidate's communication skills, quick thinking, decision making, general knowledge and qualifications for the job.
Final Interview:
The final interview is also known as a "board interview" or a "personal test". It is done by a panel of experts to assess the general character, qualifications and mental health of the candidate. The final interview usually lasts 30-45 minutes, and a panel of judges evaluates the candidate's communication skills, mental health, decision making, general knowledge, and suitability for the job.
The main purpose of the final interview is to test the candidate's management, social and communication skills, leadership and problem-solving skills. The panel may also ask questions about the candidate's education and past work experience, current situation and vision for the future.
It is important to note that both the preliminary interview and the final interview are important stages of the IAS selection process and candidates should be prepared to be good at both interviews.
Candidates must respond confidently, openly and honestly while demonstrating their knowledge, skills and passion for the job.

IAS common interview questions?
The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) general interview is an essential part of the selection process for civil service applicants. The questions asked during the IAS general interview are designed to assess the candidate's personality, knowledge, communication skills, decision-making ability, and overall job relevance. Here are some interview questions from the IAS Joint Talks:
Tell us a little about yourself.
Why did you choose the police profession?
What motivates you to work better?
How much do you know about the duties and responsibilities of an IAS officer?
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
How do you deal with stress and anxiety?
How do you follow current events and issues affecting your business?
What do you think about the current governance situation in India?
As an IAS officer, how do you solve a difficult problem or issue? If you are elected
IAS officer, how would you like to contribute to the development of the country?
What do you think about the role of technology in management?
What kind of problems do you think you will encounter as an IAS officer?
What is your main achievement in education and life?
How can you stay focused and responsible in your work?
What are your long-term career goals and aspirations?
It is important to note that these are just some examples of questions that might be asked in an IAS interview, and the actual questions may vary depending on the interviewer's preferences and the candidate's background and experience. The key to success in an interview is to respond confidently, meaningfully and honestly while demonstrating your knowledge, skills and passion for the job.

Common Mistakes to Avoid while preparing for the IAS exam
Preparing for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) exam is a challenging task that requires dedication, hard work, and smart strategies. To increase your chances of success, it's important to avoid common mistakes that can derail your efforts. Here are some common mistakes to avoid while preparing for the IAS exam:
Lack of a proper study plan: It's important to have a structured study plan that covers all the topics of the IAS syllabus. Without a proper plan, you might end up wasting time on unimportant topics or missing out on crucial topics.
Over-reliance on coaching institutes: While coaching institutes can provide guidance and support, it's important to remember that they are not a substitute for self-study. Relying solely on coaching institutes can make you complacent and prevent you from developing independent thinking and analytical skills.
Neglecting the importance of current affairs: Current affairs play a crucial role in the IAS exam, and neglecting them can be a costly mistake. Stay updated with the latest news and events through newspapers, magazines, and online sources.
Lack of practice: Simply reading and memorizing information is not enough to crack the IAS exam. It's important to practice previous year question papers and take mock tests to assess your preparation level and identify your strengths and weaknesses.
Procrastination: Procrastination can be a major hurdle in your IAS preparation. Set realistic deadlines for yourself and stick to them. Avoid distractions and focus on your studies.
Poor time management: Time management is crucial when preparing for the IAS exam. Prioritize your tasks, allocate time for each topic, and avoid spending too much time on any one topic. Also, make sure to take breaks to avoid burnout.
By avoiding these common mistakes and adopting smart strategies, you can increase your chances of success in the IAS exam. Good luck!
