Tumblr media
Preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state are in full swing, as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj announced that a team from the Election Commission of India (ECI) is scheduled to visit the state from October 3. During this three-day tour, the ECI team will engage with various stakeholders, assess the state's poll preparedness, and interact with voters.
Speaking at the inauguration of the media center at BRKR Bhavan, Vikas Raj stated that the ECI team would hold meetings with the CEO's office, political parties, chief secretary, director general of police (DGP), district collectors, district police officials, and other key stakeholders. More than 20 agencies, including both Central and State entities, have been identified for the implementation of the model code of conduct, and a meeting with these agencies is scheduled.
The CEO also provided updates on electoral rolls, stating that almost 15 lakh additions have been made since January 2023, and around 3.38 lakh voter names were removed during the Special Summary Revision of Rolls. The upcoming elections will witness the participation of nearly 6.99 lakh new voters, with efforts underway to encourage the enrollment of more women voters through active campaigns.
Once the final electoral rolls are published early next month, the focus will shift to the districts, involving tasks such as appointing presiding officers and polling officers, identifying strongrooms, and preparing polling stations. Officials will undergo training to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections.
Vikas Raj emphasized that the electoral rolls are currently robust, addressing complaints of bogus votes made by some political leaders. He assured a thorough investigation into each complaint, with details to be shared with complainants and representatives of all political parties.

Donald John Trump, a Catastrophe
Before going any further, I want to state some basic premises:
First, when we elect a President of the United States, we are hiring an employee to manage the affairs of our nation, foreign and domestic. In effect, his responsibilities are, arguably, those of CEO, i.e. Chief Executive Officer, of the United States of America, until now, in my opinion, the greatest most prosperous empire in the history of civilization, and the leader of the free world.  The qualifications required for the position of President of the United States are enormous—over and above those required for even the most complex businesses throughout the world. His (or her) worldview, intelligence and intellectual curiosity, leadership and management ability, as well as mental and emotional maturity and stability are absolutely imperative. So also, are honesty, integrity, and reliability. Yet these traits in our president, Donald John Trump, are obviously severely lacking if not devoid—across the board. Yet, sadly, it appears that a significant portion of our electorate is unable to perceive that, his track record notwithstanding. They appear to think our present situation is a lark.
Second, our great nation, from World War II through the seventies, arguably, enjoyed the highest standard of living of any other nation in the world (again, in the history of civilization). Even today, for the most part, the poorest of our poor live better than many in other parts of the world. We have only five percent of the world’s population. Yet we consume approximately twenty-five percent of the world’s production. Beginning in the eighties, however, our standard of living begun “going downhill”, another subject for another time, as the standard of living of other nations increased. The point here is that we are in competition with the rest of the world, and we are beginning to lose. And third, if our people really want our great nation to maintain its position of leadership in the world, even to survive, we must have a competent leader to lead us with our interests in mind, the interests of our people—not just those of the rich and powerful, not just those of one race or another, but of all of us—“We the People”. Donald Trump is not that man. He had been in office two years, and he began going backwards. He is a threat to our country. He is a threat to the world. We must open our eyes before it is too late. This is no game. We, all of us, the whole world, are facing an imminent catastrophe—economically and politically.
Before our presidential election in November 2016, I told you in my blog then that we had two choices when we went to the polls, elect Hillary Clinton, a disaster, or Donald Trump, a catastrophe. Looking forward as well as backward, events have proven me to be right. In November 2020, “We the People” voted Donald Trump out of office and, now let us, put him in prison or exile him for his multiple offenses. The future of our nation, our very existence, depends upon it.
Argue if you will. It’s your life that’s at stake.

Decoding Anand Sharma's Electoral Request: Why Voting via Postal Ballot was Denied
As the political arena heats up in Himachal Pradesh, with the final phase of Lok Sabha elections scheduled for June 1, Anand Sharma, the seasoned Congress leader contesting from Kangra, finds himself in the spotlight for his request to cast his vote via postal ballot from Dharamshala. However, his plea was met with a denial from the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), citing provisions under the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961.
Tumblr media
Anand Sharma’s Plea
Sharma, who is making his electoral debut from Kangra, sought permission to vote from Dharamshala, where he was actively involved in campaigning for the Lok Sabha seat. Despite being enrolled as an elector in Shimla, approximately 250 km away from Dharamshala, Sharma argued that as a candidate, he had the right to both contest the polls and cast his vote.
Denial and Reasoning
The CEO, however, turned down Sharma’s request, pointing out that only a select category of voters, such as those in central services, under preventive detention, or on election duty, are eligible to use postal ballots. Candidates, by tradition, are expected to be present in their respective constituencies on polling day, engaging with voters and party workers.
Legal Precedent
Sharma’s intention to challenge the decision in the Supreme Court echoes recent legal battles over postal voting. In a similar case, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea by a 78-year-old woman seeking to vote via postal ballot due to ill health. The court upheld the decision of the Chhattisgarh High Court, emphasizing the eligibility criteria for postal voting.
Political Landscape in Kangra
Kangra, the largest Lok Sabha constituency in Himachal Pradesh, holds significance in the state’s political landscape. While the Congress has historically performed well in the region, recent defections and electoral dynamics have altered the equation. Sharma’s campaign focuses on issues like unemployment and the BJP’s alleged failures, aiming to reclaim the constituency from the BJP, which has held sway in recent elections.
Conclusion
As Anand Sharma’s electoral journey unfolds amidst legal challenges and political maneuvering, the battle for Kangra underscores the larger narrative of political realignments and electoral strategies in Himachal Pradesh. With the final phase of polling drawing closer, all eyes are on the outcome of this high-stakes contest.

➝ CommUnity Powers. 🔑
Tumblr media
Sovereign people, naturally, have the power to rule their homes, communities, and nations.
A freely-elected representative government has no power that is superior to the People, because sovereignty resides in the People, not in the representatives of the People.
It is often reported that officials are “elected into power”, whereas they are actually “elected into office”. An elected official can only have delegated powers, because they are always subservient to their electors. Public Servants, by definition, are subservient to Private Sovereigns.
Unfortunately, most people do not exercise their sovereignty.
Sovereign living people are in the Common Law jurisdiction – the national Law-of-the-Land (lawful), while legally generated corporate “artificial persons” created by the State are in the Admiralty/Maritime/Commercial jurisdiction – the international Law-of-the-Sea (legal).
Employees of a corporation cannot exercise authority over their Chief Executive Officer (CEO), nor can “artificial persons” created by the State exercise authority over an incorporated governmental agency. Therefore, people who “act” in the “roles” of “artificial persons” have NO sovereign authority.
Corporate processes of hearing and redress are subservient, for example “submissions”, “appeals”, and “petitions”. Whereas Common Law processes of hearing and redress are sovereign, for example “notices”, “orders”, and “declarations”.
Governments at all levels, including city and town councils, have been legally incorporated into the global debt-money system of bondage and largely usurped by a myriad of corporate interests.
But whenever governance in any form becomes harmful to the People, it is the right of the People to hold such governance to account, to seek redress for wrongdoing, or ultimately to institute new governance that will safe-guard the People.
All political power is inherent in the People, and all political organisation begins at home. Therefore, the political powers of the People are first exercised governmentally when electing and overseeing their local Public Servants on a town or city council.
When a community of Private People wishes to exercise their sovereign authority over their Public Servants in the Common Law, they can post a Notice of a People's Assembly, during which they can ratify any majority decision of the community.
By this process, a community of Private People can serve a notice on their Public Servants, or write a community Bill of Rights, and so on, if they deem it necessary to protect their community of life.
The documents created by a People's Assembly must be autographed by a freely-elected Committee, witnessed, and acknowledged for the record by a Justice.
In Common Law nations, community Justices are sworn to serve the Private People, upholding the Common Law-of-the-Land, which protects life and peace.
A Justice of the Common Law is known appropriately as a “Justice of the Peace”. Their service is free, and mobile, to ensure accessibility. They can hold a Common Law “court-of-record” wherever they set up their desk with their documentation, Bible, stamps, and pen.
Common Law procedures are common sense. Conduct must be fair and transparent, providing full disclosure of any information relevant to decision-making.
Notices of People's Assemblies for your community, and notices sent to Public Servants, must provide a reasonable time-frame for a response, such as at least seven (7) days. Statements of fact according to belief must be witnessed by at least one other man or woman in the presence of a Justice of the Peace, or a similarly sworn man or woman.
Public Servants have no authority that is not granted to them by the Private People, and once a People's Assembly has spoken on a community matter, there is no higher authority who can overturn it.
