I always consider corporate satire a treat as I continue to cosplay as an everyday salaryman.
I was overwhelmed by rapid barrage of modern Chinese corporate lingo, slang, puns, jokes. Terms like 裁员, 鸡汤, 画大饼, 国际化。。。Each was introduced to me, and they turned out to be all too familiar ideas, like an old classmate you happened to see in another city. In those realizations there is both comfort and disappointment; western capitalism has indeed fully infected and choked our motherland.

The corporate pyramid structure, the globalized workplace names, the layoff interviews, the quality inspection paper trails, the contractors' shaky employment and resulting exploitation, the lavish corporate events, the circular language.
It felt so American for a small town blue collar worker to show the city slicked white collar boys and girls the value of hard work and honest values, while be thrown for a loop by a corrupt middle management, and ultimately, the upper brass.

Notably it was the second-in-command who was bad, the CEO and founder was still a good dude. This brings to mind In the Name of the People (人民的名义) where the corrupt guys are powerful, but not the most powerful; the good ending can always be achieved by the good guys going to the Good Boss and Good Boss bringing the hammer down on the bad egg, a la Robocop's "You're fired!" .
The movie is very funny and has a cheesy ending, but I found at its core is horror. Corporate China is but a mirror of corporate America, with all of its whimsy and even more bullshit.
Woe for the small town factories and workers who toiled to bring China so much wealth, pride, and prestige. Hu are the Jianlins that will speak for them?

Semi-related, the Donghua Jinlong glycine meme on Tiktok warms my heart. I think its nice that foreign kids can (un)ironically appreciate an earnest chemical factory doing its best. Its quite sad Tiktok is to be shut down / sold on allegations of being Chinese propaganda / spyware. Even if it were true, I feel it did a lot to make young people truly appreciative of Chinese media and culture.
