De investeringsronde wordt opnieuw geleid door vastgoedinvesteerder Cairn Real Estate. Ook Dura Vermeer, Impact vastgoed, Eddy Smit (CEO van MVGM) en VORM Ontwikkeling zijn ingestapt. Healthy Workers heeft een softwareplatform gebouwd dat gegevens verzamelt over het kantoor en zijn medewerkers, inzichten terugkoppelt aan onder andere de facility manager en de medewerkers, interventies adviseert en slimme notificaties geeft. Onder meer worden objectieve sensordata geanalyseerd. De omgevingssensoren meten onder andere het binnenklimaat, het CO2 gehalte en de bezettingsgraad. Daarnaast leveren medewerkers hun mening over de werkomgeving en hun welzijn via de Healthy Workers web-app. Healthy Workers werkt volgens een cloudmodel. Bedrijven betalen een vast bedrag per maand per vierkante meter. Enkele bekende afnemers van het platform zijn Schiphol Real Estate, Dura Vermeer, Royal FloraHolland en UWV. RAET mist groei

De veranderingen gaan tergend langzaam. Toch zijn de laatste tien jaar de machtsverhoudingen op de markt van software voor personeelsdiensten en salarisadministratie duidelijk veranderd ten gunste van twee nieuwere leveranciers, namelijk Avanade en Afas.  Zij konden een positie op deze markt veroveren ten koste van de traditionele aanbieders Raet, NGA en ADP.  Als Raet niet uitkijkt zal het concern zonder acquisities zijn marktleiderschap in 2021 aan Afas verliezen.

De omzet van deze vijf concurrenten is sedert 2007 tot en met 2016 gemiddeld 8% per jaar gestegen tot €460 miljoen. Dat is een behoorlijk groeipercentage. Dat heeft te maken met de introductie van het Cloudmodel met verhuur van software omdat huur per saldo altijd duurder uitkomt dan koop, maar ook omdat steeds meer aspecten van het personeelsmanagement geautomatiseerd konden worden. Ook is het automatiseren van flexwerk duurder dan dat van vaste banen.

De grootste speler op de markt is nog steeds Raet, met een marktaandeel van 34% in de totale omzet van deze vijf bedrijven. Maar in 2007 was dit marktaandeel van Raet nog 41%. Raet verliest terrein. Gemiddeld was de jaarlijkse omzetgroei van Raet sinds 2007 5,3%, maar in 2016 was er geen omzetgroei meer.

In het jaarverslag 2016 zegt de directie hiermee tevreden te zijn en dat de resultaten in lijn met de verwachtingen zijn. De omzetstagnatie is toegeschreven aan prijsconcurrentie en minder consultancy.  Verhuur en verkoop van software steeg 3,4% tot 61,2% van de  omzet. Professional Services zakten met 7,3% in tot 13,4% van de omzet en Business Process Outsourcing daalde 4,4% tot 25,3% van de omzet. Dit zijn beelden van stagnatie, zeker ten opzichte van het Cloudbedrijf in HRM software Workday dat zijn omzet in 2016 wereldwijd met 35% zag toenemen. De nieuwe eigenaren van Raet hebben allerminst reden om tevreden te zijn.

Raet is  eind mei 2016 door CVC Capital Partners verkocht aan Emerald Bidco BV, wier fondsen onder management staan van Hg Capital, een Britse private Equity firma die 5,5 miljard pond sterling beheert. In 2011 kocht CVC Raet voor €400 miljoen, de verkoopprijs in 2016 was naar verluidt €500 miljoen, 3,2x de omzet over 2016, tegen 3x de omzet in 2011.  

Circa 1,6 miljoen werknemers in 10.000 organisaties gebruiken de software van Raet. Dat betekent dat de marktwaarde per aangesloten werknemer circa €312 is.  Toen CVC Raet in 2011 kocht was die waarde €267 per gebruiker.  Raet is naar omzet gemeten zeker nog marktleider, terwijl ADP en NGA nauwelijks nog groeien en eigenlijk al uit de markt geprijsd zijn door Avanade en Afas. Wanneer de trend van de voorbije tien jaar zich de komende tien jaar voortzet dan verliest Raet in 2021 zijn marktleiderschap aan Afas.

Wat we hier zien is het wezenlijke verschil tussen een bedrijf zoals Raet en een onderneming zoals AFAS. De eerste wordt geleid door managers die risico’s uit de weg gaan, de laatste wordt geleid door ondernemers in een familiebedrijf die een gecalculeerd risico nemen. Intussen is deze markt voor software voor personeelsdiensten niet innoverend genoeg  in Nederland. Dan moet je bij een speler zoals Workday zijn.#Raet
