What's the best way in creating your own twine UI? If you're an absolute beginner at it? You always have such nice designs and I was wondering how you go about creating them.
hello! i feel like i've answered similar question about this before, though i'm not quite sure how to answer this specific one -- there's no best way per se in creating a twine UI, in that i can't exactly name a program to be like 'oh, this one does x or y for you', but my general advice is to start by familiarising yourself with html and css in general if you're a complete beginner in that aspect and want to create a whole twine ui on your own.
that being said, it can be a daunting task and have a fairly steep learning curve, so my general recommendation is to take a poke around existing twine templates that exist, or just play around with the default one.
on a design front though, i just trawl through pinterest looking at pretty colour schemes and web design trends ( don't quote me on that, i'm in no way a web designer ) and kind of use that as inspiration for what i want the ui to look like. sometimes i'll do a little sketch on whatever paper i have lying around my desk, just to say 'okay, there's going to be a little menu button floating up the top, and i think i want the profile to have three boxes like so,' so on and so forth. and then i just jump into codepen or jsfiddle and start writing it out!
i probably have some stuff floating around my coding tag, but otherwise there's also this post where i breakdown how snakeroot's current ui is coded, and nyehilismwriting's twine coding masterlist, which is super handy.
