Healthcare is such a sensitive topic. We have politicized it in this country, leaving patients and caregivers as a bargaining chip between parties and their supporters. All while we try to maintain a sense of normalcy and health. Once again the threat of patient protections has been presented. What to do now? • Don’t panic! The threat to healthcare is real, but it can be fought. There is a plan to repeal, but there is no plan for a replacement. Which means that millions of people can be without health insurance if the courts deem it unlawful before congress passes a replacement. So, what does that mean? It means that there is time to advocate for yourself and your loved ones. • Call & write to your congressional representatives in the House & Senate. You may also send postcards to The White House. • What do you say? You tell your story. Talk about what healthcare means to you and your family. What about the ACA has worked and what has not. Talk about what you need from healthcare. Keep it passionate and truthful, but respectful. The time has come to educate our legislators about what we need. • If you are unable to find your legislator or don’t want to reach out personally? Send it to us and we will deliver it along with other stories and information. Click email at the top of our Instagram page and share your story. Let us know if you want to remain anonymous or not. • We can be the change we seek. If we keep educating and keep fighting. • • • • #ibdmoms #savepatients #healthcare #advocacy #ulcerativecolitis #crohnsdisease #medicalfoodsequityact #colorectalcancerscreening #ibd #autoimmunedisease #caregiver #momlife #parenting #chroniccondition #nonpartisan #advocacy https://www.instagram.com/p/BvhWCl1HX2i/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=15r6psw6t5n66

Last week the #IBDMoms @about_ibd & @crazycreolemama traveled to DC with the #DigestiveDiseaseNationalCoalition for their #publicpolicy forum day on the hill. Some of the issues they were advocating for were #steptherapyreform on the federal level, #medicalfoodsequityact , #colorectalcancerscreening coverage and budget increases for the NIDDK section of the @nihgov . • People wonder, if they have to the bills & resolutions before participating in a day on the hill. Or if they have to understand policy. The answer is, no. The great thing about a public policy forum is that you have a mixture of people who understand the bills and people who are just telling their stories. But the stories, the personal journeys, are vital to getting some of this legislation passed for patients. So we encourage folks to tell their stories. • If you are unable to travel to DC or your state capital for legislative meetings, you can email us and we will take it for you. Sign up for our newsletter to share your story easily. Or dm us and ask us how. It’s important that legislators know how their policies effect everyday Americans. https://www.instagram.com/p/BuzRT-YH_NU/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=isz5gvdfdsr8
