that post about which was the first thing you read fanfic got me thinking about like. fan and fandom behaviors. how like. aged 10 or 11 and just through sheer power of will and armed with a crappy little camera and the pre-installed video editing software on my dad's laptop I would create """"edits"""" of my then current fandom obsession 😭😭😭 not even for anyone else, literally just because it was such a joyous little activity 😭😭😭 like I'd draw the blinds, so there were no reflections, then neatly filmed the laptop screen only so I could then clip the videos down and rearrange the scenes and put my favorite songs underneath 😭😭😭 I didn't even show it to anyone!!! I was just like!!! look!!! my thing!!! 😭😭😭 this was before I even had an email address fdkghkdf let alone any accounts anywhere, I was just yearning for the fandom experience dhgakldfhgkdf and isn't that so fun in a way? that you love something so much you just. invent your way around engaging with it so intensely??? idk man, I'm having a very grateful that fandoms exist and grateful that I've had the chance to spend so much time in spaces with people who have shared the passions I've had time

I'm thinking of Melon and Legoshi's relationship again specifically in the early pre-"evil does exist" stages they make me so ill. Legoshi wants to save him soooo bad.

it's soooooo funny bc up until that point, legoshi HAD saved everyone (excluding the shishigumi boss who he was too much of a baby to ACTUALLY mortally wound). as far as legoshi is concerned, Melon is just another Riz. someone who, if he could manage to empathize and reason with, would at least Reconsider his actions and turn himself in for treatment. which is of course exactly what melon laughs at him for 💖 because he sucks and has spent the last dozen or so years reinforcing the same noxious beliefs in himself over and over and over again 💖

though to be fair to legoshi, Melon IS similar to riz in a lot of ways. it's because of this that I believe a loss of taste is linked directly to feelings of trauma and guilt, which, well. you don't actually learn how early on in melons life he'd been isolated and assaulted, we just know it'd been happening for a long time, and while he was Very Young. while Melon himself says his lack of taste is because of his mixed genetics, there is no actual proof that that's the case. also both Melon and Legoshi are unreliable narrators LOL neither of them know shit for fuck about the world in two entirely different ways.

anyway legoshi shouldve spent more time with his grandpa and volunteered at that mixed daycare too, then he really would've been able to meet more like himself and his mom. ALAS!! he and haru BOTH wanted to be soooo nicies and save the world's most miserable 24yo because he just so happens to be a representative of the Potential they want to bring into the world, unaware of course that he took his trauma and doubled down on the worst parts of what others saw him as.

like i just posted this on twitter. but i find it so interesting that all the stories about mnestia are that of reckless unbridled passion and a heart too big for their own good - harboring so much love that they quite literally died over it - and then aglaea inherits their coreflame and kills off much of the same passion and vitality she once burned with, too

she speaks as though it's the coreflame's fault that she's unable to feel the bulk of her own emotions and is even losing touch with many physical sensations, but really i think this is entirely self-inflicted. and it speaks to a devotion that only a demi/god of love is capable of

just, rather than devoting herself to her emotions and the individual(s) she loves as mnestia did, she's devoted herself to a cause. one that asks her to gather a group of exceptional individuals that in another life she could love and care for more openly and then she has to watch them die (and in the case of tribbie who she arguably has the closest bond with, she has to watch her die MULTIPLE times). and then she too has to die. for the sake of a future she'll never get to see and will never know for sure if it will even come to fruition but she has to trust that it WILL someday because this all HAS to mean SOMETHING, right? right?????

this is a responsibility that mnestia's heart would have never been able to bear. and neither would a younger aglaea's

she can no longer be a person with sentiments and dreams. she has to completely dissociate herself from life lest she get too attached to the idea of having her own and start to waver in her mission. her ideal self has to be a faceless tool and weapon, built to die again and again for amphoreus

but again this is born entirely out of a fierce love for all of humanity. she LOVES humans. she loves art and culture and she loves the way humans love each other and the way that, when at their best, they have an inclination to care for the lives of other creatures and she loves the world that amphoreus could be, if given the chance. only someone impossibly selfless and devoted could do this to themselves. idk the dichotomy and manifestation of devotion and love between her and mnestia is just really interesting. i adore her

Headcanon #400: Heart & Mind are usually never a neutral temperature. The area around them is like the sun & moon. Mind's being hot and Hearts being cold. They're body temperatures however contrast that with Mind always feeling cold like metal/machinery and Heart feeling warm like a literal heart.
