Road to creating my first ever Unity Game
Background
I am a professional web application engineer, however my main hobby have always been about games, so I thought why don’t I try to create some game that is actually fun and also somewhat different from other games.
I have been developing this game for a while now - about 9 months, including learning about Unity -, but I just wanted to start writing some devlogs as well.
This game’s idea is mainly coming from Pokemon GO. I thought Pokemon GO is an interesting game, and it’s different from other games in a way that we have to move in real life in order to move in game. And it is basically an earth sized game already since it uses Google Maps or Mapbox’s data only to create the environment.
But I personally like touching the joystick or keyboard to move the character as well so I thought of ways of mixing together today’s big MMORPG’s with Pokemon GO. I also want the environment to be more 3D, and for that we need elevation data as well.
Idea
In my mobile game I want to have a procedurally generated environment using only map data, and the ability to move in game with a joystick as well, not just with real GPS location.
Here comes the problem: what’s the point of moving in real life if we can just move with the joystick? Well we can limit the movement in a certain area, or add benefits to the user being close to the real location for example. I think it could be still an enjoyable way to play even on a train to work/school, or at home. Maybe even for while walking if I find some way to make it playable in Portrait mode, but no concrete idea yet.
Creating equal sized areas
As a main element of the game, and a way to decide how big of area we want to build around us, we have to separate the earth into equal sized areas. Well it doesn’t necessarily have to be equal, but it makes more sense. I also want the areas to have equal neighbors, which can also be an element of the game (eg. only being able to walk or see current area and neighboring ones.
Basically the only way to divide a sphere into equal areas is by making hexagons (and 12 pentagons). So we start with an icosahedron, and subdivide into more and more smaller hexagons until we get to the size we want. Personally I chose 19 times subdivision of icosahedron which results into hexagons sized as about same as Tokyo Dome’s area (46,755 m2)
It is a little problem, since the tiles provided by Mapbox (or other map services) are rectangles, however their area is different depending on the latitude.
I still decided to go on the divide by hexagon route, and finding the matching tile(s) what I need. I think hexagons look cool anyways :)
Generating environment from map data
Tumblr media
It is simple. The map is green by default which is converted to grass. Roads are painted on the terrain, and we dig space for the water area and put a flat mesh on it to create the water. And as for the terrain, we just use the real elevation data to create the mesh in 3D. All the data is coming from Mapbox. The rest can be pretty much random to make it more lively with trees, buildings, etc.
I was even thinking of using POI or building data to decide where the buildings should be, but it seems bad idea for performance, and more importantly, unfair for people who live next to almost no buildings if the buildings are big part of the game.
Tumblr media
Fuji.
When the elevation goes above a certain level, we can change the ground color to snow for example.
Server
This is a multiplayer game, so of course we need a server to run on. Since the world is huge, I want the performance to be best as possible, so I decided to write every server code in plain C# using System.Net package. It uses mostly TCP, except for joystick movement which is UDP. Not quite sure if it is feasible for huge amount of players, since the server also has to create the environment including physics and everything, but I think if its scalable, it should work. For example creating servers depending on the area and choose the server accordingly as well. I found EVE Online is working similarly, so hope it works.
Combat
Tumblr media
Sorry for the hideous UI. All are placeholders/debugging.
The combat I want should be similar to today’s mobile games, like Black desert Online/Diablo Immortal/Wild Rift. So basically moving around with a joystick and easy auto targeting, but also enabling aiming skill shots.
Conclusion
I think that’s all about the progress so far. There are many minor things I missed but maybe I will write more of each minor thing later in more detail. My ultimate goal is to develop this game until a point which is actually publishable and hopefully enjoyable by people. I know it’s almost impossible to create MMORPG as a solo developer, but I hope I can achieve it by making many things procedural instead of manually created.

Led Player
Tumblr media
Hd Player Led Sign Software
Led Player For Windows 10
Led Player Update
LDPlayer is a freeware Android emulator software download filed under mobile phone tools and made available by Shanghai Changzhi Network for Windows.
Tumblr media
The review for LDPlayer has not been completed yet, but it was tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below.
Android OS emulator for playing games and running apps on a PC
Led Player is a professional software application whose purpose is to help you manipulate LED technology-based equipment and DMX fixtures using various effects for RGB colors and pan/tilt. The driving assumptions are that a player-led process will lead to a (1) collectively, (2) reflectively, and (3)relationally smarter team; that all student-athletes are capable of learning to lead; and that team leadership is grounded in a team learning together. For the serious coach, it takes commitment to really create a dynamic player-led team. Led Player is without precedent when it comes to its User-Friendly mode and ability to be mastered astoundingly easily and swiftly. The software can be assimilated and mastered in a mere 10 minutes. Led Player offers numerous practical possibilities and can adapt itself to all DMX light applications. Also, during the game, players can interact with some objects in the ship’s rooms. You can play Among Us online or over local WiFi with 4-10 players while everyone tries to get their spaceship ready for departure. However, be aware that out of the 4-10 players, there would be an impostor among, hence the name - Among Us.
LDPlayer App Player is an Android emulator and app player which allows you to run apps and games on your PC. LDPlayer usually runs one of the newest versions of Android from Google
The interface of LDPlayer is very similar to other Android emulators and despite the fact that the installer is in Chinese, it's very easy to install by clicking the next buttons several times.
One important detail to note is that LDPlayer does not come with Google Play Services installed, so some video games won't work. That being said, you can install Google Play Services manually.
LDPlayer can play APK apps, emulate Android and install APK files.
Features and highlights
Easy APK installation - drag and drop the APK file to emulator to install it
Android version v5.0 Lollipop with gaming enhancements
Keyboard mapping and mouse support to play games from your keyboard instead of screen touch
Fake GPS Mapping to play games like Pokemon Go (Simply by sitting on your chair)

What is led file? How to open led files?
File type specification:
File extension led seems to be related to AIBO, an iconic series of robotic pets designed and manufactured by Sony.
These led files control the eye/tail/back/etc. lights on Sony AIBO robo dog.
The files are formatted as MIDI files. Instead of sound however, the key/pitch values correspond to individual LED's.
The volume corresponds to LED brightness. As proof, try renaming any led file to midi and playing it in Windows Media Player.
This led file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.
This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
Updated: May 7, 2021
Help how to open:
You can playback *.led files much like they were any other MIDI files.

Emerald Skies is out!
So it turns out I was able to deliver on my promise after all! Let's just hope this isn't as glitchy and incomplete as no man's sky though huh
The story of Wallace's continuing adventures finally comes to life as his newest challenge is a criminal team in an all-new original region called Auros. He must work together with his team of skilled Pokemon trainers to face up against the dominating Team Victory who don't play fair against them. They claim they want to protect the region - but is everything as simple as it seems to be in Auros?
DOWNLOAD: Google Drive | Dropbox | Mediafire
Online Manual | Emerald Series Wikia
(If any of the download links in the post don't work, please check the online manual to see if there are updated links! Also you only need to download the game once - the multiple links are there just in case one of them doesn’t work.)
You do not need to install anything - just unzip into a folder and play! However it is only normally compatible on Windows. If you have a Mac, there are instructions HERE on creating a Windows virtual machine so you can play the game.
Or if you'd like, you can come join us on a post-release livestream! Since this is a very long game (twice the length of Emerald Origins!) it'll be a two-part stream. I haven't chosen the dates yet but please check this blog and the livestream link for updates. For now I have set the dates to 19th and 20th May but this is subject to change. Watch out for further announcements!
Livestream Part 1 | Livestream Part 2
And of course, if you haven't yet, check out the prequel, Emerald Origins! but also just know that emerald skies has been much improved in terms of graphics and battle animations lol

How to Use Wayfarer in Pokémon Go & What is It
The game Pokémon Go received a new tool named Wayfarer. This new tool allows players who are available to review and nominate the submissions to the Pokéstops and Portals. Right now, it is available for the players who are at level 40 in the game Pokémon Go and level 10 or more in the game Ingress. So are you on the lucky side, or are you on the verge of getting lucky who will able to help improve and stabilize Niantic games? If yes, then you should know about these things.
Wayfarer: Introduction
Before Niantic created a higher bar for the AR games in Pokémon Go and Ingress, this company had launched the first app naming “Field Trip.” This app was designed all around the basic thinking that all the local customers could help them to create a better experience for them and others regarding the significant local places all around them.
In that app, a user was able to submit a place of social and cultural significance. They can inform you about the site with photos, some description, and some additional details explaining the reasons regarding the importance of the place. So, when users visit any new place, they were able to discover those places through this app. Among these places, some were government buildings, administrative structures, ancient structures, churches, and art installments. At last, all these mentioned places finally became the real world ground for the games like Pokémon Go, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, and Ingress.
After some time, the Field Trip method was revoked, and it has taken place by a tool that is used from the high-level players of the Ingress, named Operation Portal Recon. After some time, this method also replaced with the new tool. This tool can use by both Pokémon Go and Ingress. It is a Wayfarer.
Unlike the previous two, Wayfarer gives the players an extra ability under which the public has the opportunity to review and rate submissions. From this method of crowd-sourcing the information, the creator has modernized the means for getting new Pokéstops, Portals, and Gyms.
Eligibility of Players to Get Wayfarer
Right now, Wayfarer is available for the players who are at level 40 in the game Pokémon Go and level 10 or more in the game Ingress. There are no signs that these level standards will come down.
Signing Up
Firstly, you have login the Wayfarer through either Facebook or Google account, which is directly linked to your game profile Pokémon and Ingress. The Log-In page will take you to a page where it will be mentioned whether youre eligible or not. You are also able to access it from inside of any of the games.
Submitting a location
Once you are eligible for the Wayfarer, the biggest question is, “How can we submit the location?”
After successfully signing up for the Wayfarer, you have to follow these steps:
Log-In to the gaming account Ingress or Pokémon Go.
Reach out to the settings.
In this section, you can see a key to provide a Wayspot to the app, which can be a new Pokéstop in the game.
This can fail very badly if there is no control. So there is a counter for that, and it is the limiting the amount to submit the Pokéstop. As per the limits, players can provide 7 spots in two weeks, which can be changed as per Niantic consider fit.
Pokespot: Basic Requirement
You have to know the essential qualities and qualifications of the Pokéstop before you select any spot for the consideration. It should have some amount of artistic significance, historical, or cultural. It could be some historical statue, an art exhibit, or place of worship, etc., but any local Pizza Hut or McDonald’s is not the perfect Pokéstop; still, a big wall painted of a building can be.
So, you are going to submit the information regarding the spot. At least, your mentioned stop has a name, some description with some location. Here, you do not require to submit a ten-page extended essay having the explanation for your stop. So you have to keep this in mind that some other players are reviewing and rating your submissions. Providing the details about that spot and compelling the description will increase the probability of the place.
If the selected spot has cultural significance or historical, then Pokéstops should be publicly accessible and should be safe. Such as if any crucial historic structure is suggested to be a stop, but it’s near a highway without proper safety measures, there are chances it will not be a good Pokéstop.
Similarly, we also wish that we could access a Pokéstop from near or house or bedroom, but having Pokéstop at the front yard of your home is also wrong. You also have to make sure that the location is not temporary and a place that can affect any other government or personal work.
Always remember that at last, it is a game, and so be attentive peoples, try to avoid any injury or interference to some necessary real-life actions, because it will be going to reflect poorly on everyone other who is playing this game.
The Perfect Picture
As spots should have qualities, the photos presenting your location should have some requirements too. When you are submitting any pictures, make sure it is clear (doesn’t requires a professional level of photography). Your photo should be sufficiently highlighted and contains points that are interesting as well. There will be no people or animals in that photo; avoid the selfies (yes, this could be fun but don’t do that). Try to send your photos, not the pictures clicked by some other person (because of the copyrights, so you should not give any Google images).
Only to increase your place for Pokéstop try to use the excellent picture of close up shot, alongside with some wider shot which explains the surrounding arena. If the suggested spot is selected, then these wider shots will be going to help other players in the task of finding the spot, so your spot gets excellent ratings and reviews. Ultimately, it will be going to help Niantic to show that the spot is sufficiently safe.
Conclusion
If you are here, then you know all about Wayfarer. At last always remember, you should choose a place which is easy to find, accessible to everyone, and a place which can’t be dangerous. After these are fulfilled, you can be creative too, which will make your submission shine among the crowd. You also can attach the exact map location of your spot.

Five Ways Teachers Can Use—and Create—Augmented Reality Experiences
A fourth-grade student at Mendez Elementary in San Marcos, Texas, held an iPad out in front of her. On the screen, she saw her classroom just as though she were using the camera, but with one startling difference: There was a zombie floating in front of her. Zombies had taken over the school library, and she and her fellow students had to work together to answer various questions about books—such as identifying where the index is located. “This is kind of scary,” she told her teacher, Yvonne Rodriguez, “but fun.”
Educators are constantly challenged to find ways to keep kids’ attention in class when, outside of school, their world is full of all kinds of highly compelling and visually stimulating media.
Rodriguez created the zombie experience using Metaverse, an augmented reality app. Using the camera in our phones or tablets, augmented reality (AR) overlays objects—characters, scenery, animations—onto the physical world, and allows users to interact with those objects. If your students ever played Pokemon GO, they experienced AR when they roamed the streets looking for tiny monsters that appeared on their screens.
Educators are constantly challenged to find ways to keep kids’ attention in class when, outside of school, their world is full of all kinds of highly compelling and visually stimulating media. Many educators find that gamifying learning keeps students engaged. BreakoutEDU, for example, is an educational game platform that includes a curated set of physical materials—think padlocks, boxes and invisible ink—and activities across a wide range of subjects and grade levels. Students might sort images annotated with letters by state of matter (solid, liquid, or gas), for instance, revealing a secret code word that gets them one step closer to the goal. BreakoutEDU is a physical game platform, requiring a significant amount of planning and manual configuration—setting combinations locks, writing clues on hint cards, hiding clues around the classroom—and then supervising the activity as the teams go about their game play.
Augmented reality tools, however, reduce the time and effort required to set up gaming activities while allowing teachers to break through the noise and engage students with the type of immersive content they find in their daily lives. For example, after watching a 10-minute tutorial, Yvonne Rodriguez was able to create her own AR Experience by arranging components—which she describes as “digital LEGOs”—on her computer screen. “It’s just so easy,” says Rodriguez. “I am not a tech-savvy teacher at all. So if I can do it, anyone can do it.”
When creating virtual experiences, teachers can easily add multiple choice and open ended questions, characters and speech bubbles, web pages and Snapchat-like filters and also embed YouTube videos. They can require students to take photos of objects to demonstrate their understanding of the material, or allow them to access content with an inexpensive VR viewer like Google Cardboard. Platforms like Metaverse also have hundreds of ready-to-use, free learning experiences, with thousands of teachers collaborating on creating additional content.

Let’s look at some ways teachers are already using AR in the classroom:
More from Metaverse
Download the app
Create AR Experiences
Learn how teachers are using the app
Watch an AR Breakout tutorial
1. Digital puzzle boxes — breakouts
Teachers can create activities similar to those in BreakoutEDU, but instead they configure a set of challenges on a computer, and students engage with these challenges via a smartphone, tablet, or Chromebook. The tools make it easy to set timers and enforce gameplay; some experiences may be short, while others may take place over multiple periods or even entire semesters. Team experiences teach collaboration skills, distribution of responsibilities, specialization and social and emotional learning skills.
2. Scavenger hunts
Augmented reality experiences can be attached to physical locations. For instance, experiences may have a QR code—a visual indicator such as a barcode—that can be printed out and attached to practically anything, large or small. Scanning a QR code with a phone or tablet launches an experience right away. I’ve seen teachers gamify their classrooms by attaching QR codes to various physical objects in the room, and even gamify entire schools. Experiences can instruct students to perform physical activities like jumping jacks or pushups, and take videos showing that they have completed the requirements.
3. Augmented field trips
AR experiences may also be placed at physical locations by using GPS coordinates. Some teachers have augmented their field trips and added layers of learning and interaction to the day’s activity. Using their computer, a teacher simply picks points on a map where the field trip will take place, and places experiences at points of interest. During the trip, students use their devices to interact with these experiences. No QR codes required! Teachers in Europe have shared photos of augmented castle field trips.
Some teachers have augmented their field trips and added layers of learning and interaction to the day’s activity.
4.Teacher-created virtual expeditions
Google Expeditions is a great way to let students experience Antarctica, Machu Picchu, or even Mars in virtual reality, but the content is relatively limited. What if you could make your own? Well, you can! Using VR headsets like Google Cardboard, teachers have been creating augmented reality experiences that embed 360-degree photos or 360-degree videos in virtual reality. Google is also creating AR experiences where students can explore 3D models of volcanoes, the human body, and more, all of which “appear” in class just like Pokemon Go’s Jigglypuff showed up in players’ living rooms. Unlike Pokémon Go, there’s no gamification going on here—for that, teachers have to get a little more creative.
5. Student creations—no coding required
Students can also create their own augmented reality experiences in a single class period to demonstrate learning. Not only do students find this creative activity fun to do, they end up with a final product that they can play and share with friends and family outside the classroom. Because some platforms, including the Metaverse AR Platform, don’t require any code to make this happen, teachers have been able to facilitate these types of activities across all grade levels and subjects, not just computer science.
Teacher-Created AR Experiences
Metaverse maintains a public spreadsheet, which tracks new AR content across subjects and grade levels. Some favorites:
Break Up and Make Up Earth Science — 5th grade
Help the Mountain Lion Find His Home — 6th grade math
Survive the American Revolution — 7th grade
The Atticus Finch Challenge — 8th grade
What a Newton! — 8th grade
Space Station Steve Missed Watergate — 9th Grade
Curse of the Pharaoh — 9th grade
Periodic Table Cipher — 11th grade

FINALLY: AN AUGMENTED REALITY APP THAT INJECTS THE INTERNET INTO REAL LIFE
WHEN RYAN STAAKE and Patrick Piemonte first labored collectively, they helped you get around: Both have been interface designers at Apple, with Piemonte operating specially at the iPhone’s map generation. Now, almost a decade later, the 2 are operating collectively again—but this time, in place of supporting you get round, they need to use the electricity of augmented reality to comprehend the hidden matters round you. That’s the concept behind Mirage, an iOS app the duo and a small crew just launched. It’s not the primary AR app to be had within the App Store, and it without a doubt may not be the closing, but it could properly be the simplest one to marry augmented reality’s hidden-global enchantment with social media’s shareable, re-mixable content material. And in doing so, it’s making AR no longer simply a generation of interest, however one in all connection. MORE FROM THE AUTHOR
PETER RUBIN Netflix’s Secret Weapon Isn’t Reboots—It’s Genre Movies In case you’ve got been at a 3-month silent retreat, you’ve got in all likelihood heard something about how certain tech titans are charging in the direction of AR—and using your telephone’s digicam to get there. Both Facebook and Apple have delivered developer structures that allow human beings to combine AR outcomes into apps. However, at the same time as early experiments have been encouraging, especially those the usage of Apple’s ARKit, they’re essentially built round simulations that bridge a few type of experience hole: What does that bulgogi bowl seem like in actual lifestyles? Could my backyard handle a SpaceX Falcon 9 landing? How many cats healthy in my workplace? Whether they’re beneficial or high-quality, they sense very just like sealed merchandise. You fireplace it up, see the element you want to see, and … Properly, it truly is it. Mirage, for its component, is even much less beneficial than a floating tic-tac-toe recreation. But it truly is the idea. It’s no longer a carrier or a simulation or a product—it’s a palette. The whole factor, as Staake says, is for humans “to communicate thru the actual international.” How that communication works is a touch bit institution text, a little bit social-media app, and a touch bit treasure hunt. When you fire up Mirage, you are presented with a camera view, along with a small Google Maps thumbanail inside the top nook. To add a “mirage,” you factor your digital camera at some thing and take a photo; the app then allows you to decorate the item with textual content, drawings, 3-D emoji, even pix or lively GIFs. The mirage then suggests up at the map as a sparkling circle—as do all of the different mirages people have made for your area. If you want to discover the ones different mirages, enlarge the map and walk toward the sparkling circles (this will feel acquainted if you spent any time playing ultimate 12 months’s AR breakout, Pokemon Go). When you get near a mirage, a tiny thumbnail of the precise area will manual you closer to the proper spot to cause the mirage. You can picture or movie other mirages, after which percentage those on different platforms—or you can simply experience the small thrill of seeing something others cannot.
The mirages themselves, although, aren’t just static items; if a person has created a mirage of a hashtag, as an example, then tapping on that hashtag will release Twitter. Not best are mirages digital gadgets that exist in the actual international, then, but they act as a portal between the two. “Where we engage with each different at the net, whether it’s on a web page or in chat, is kind of this illustration of a non-space,” Staake says. “We’re very interested in the idea the Internet oozing into fact a bit greater.” (Staake has blurred those lines earlier than; he directed the viral meta-video for Young Thug’s “Wyclef Jean”, and has created severa VR projects.) Despite its iOS exclusivity, Mirage wasn’t built with Apple’s ARKit; Staake and Piemonte got here up with the authentic prototype eight months ago, and scaled it up themselves. “ARKit is amazing,” Piemonte says. “but it is a unique use case.” Whereas ARKit apps react to the person’s environment to perform a generalized function, Mirage is a ways greater context-unique: Oh, howdy, someone created a mirage outside this specific eating place you’re taking walks beyond, it says. Check it out.
And in case you’re involved approximately a cityscape clogged with the AR equal of father-up commercials and ghost web sites, don’t be. Each mirage is designed to vanish after 24 hours—until other customers upvote it. (People also can document mirages for objectionable content, wherein case they may be deleted early.) That, Staake and Piemonte hope, will praise humor and creativity, making the locations you stroll with the aid of each day only a little extra enjoyable. Someday—a sooner or later that, in all likelihood, is tons nearer than we might have as soon as imagined—this other layer of revel in will in reality be part of ordinary lifestyles. Whether by means of AR-enabled glasses or a few different manner, bodily and virtual items will co-exist; that interplay will provide education, distraction, and the whole lot in between. For now, though, there’s exploration; for now, there are apps like Mirage, seeking to supply at the promise of AR. One hand-located poop emoji at a time.

Despite its iOS exclusivity, Mirage wasn’t built with Apple’s ARKit; Staake and Piemonte got here up with the authentic prototype eight months ago, and scaled it up themselves.
