By 👉🏻 @dr.nalansalah 🌸My dentist colleague wanted to lengthen the crown. The shape my colleague wanted was given by adding composite without damaging the teeth. We performed the treatment in a minimally invasive way. 🌸Diş hekimi meslektaşım kuron boyunu uzatmak istedi. Dişlere zarar vermeden kompozit eklenerek meslektaşImın istediği şekil verildi. Minimal invaziv bir şekilde tedaviyi gerçekleştirdik. #dentalart #compositeveneers #crownlengthening #dentistry #esthetician #estetik #kompozitveneer #aesthetic #cosmeticdentistry #drnalansalah #dentaristodentalclinic #kosovo #prizren (à Prizren Kosova) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZWmpIBqc0B/?utm_medium=tumblr

#Repost @periopros 9-day post op of esthetic and functional crown lengthening. This patient happens to have a combination of wear and altered passive eruption. This surgery was to place the gingiva in relation to the CEJ, now the #orthodontist will place the gingival margins in ideal positions prior to the #prosthodontist restoring the worn dentition. #dentalcases #aboutdentistry #dentist #oralsurgery #periodontics #periodontia #odontologia #gingiva #gumsurgery #crownlengthening #braces #wear #teamwork #interdisciplinary #healing

YAY no more mouth stitches!
I got the crown lengthening stitches removed this morning. OMG I am so happy not to have strings in my gums anymore. (Sometimes they use dissolving stitches but they didn't with me, so I had to get them out the old-fashioned way). The periodontist also checked out the site and said everything is healing really well. No sign of infection or anything. :D
Now my mouth feels a little strange in that area, and it felt EXTREMELY weird when they were (SQUICK!) pulling the threads out. But I didn't faint or anything. Am now at work, enjoying breakfast and coffee. What a relief to have that part over with. In about 4 weeks I have to go back in so they can make the impression for the actual crown. I wish they could do it sooner so I wouldn't have to worry about the tooth breaking any worse than it already is, but they have to wait for the site they carved into to "stabilize", I guess.

Repost @dr.firaszoubi The photo before shows a gummy smile with an excessive exposure of the gingiva. With a surgical correction of the gingiva and placement of 10 veneers we were able to create a more harmonious smile. @ludgerschluetter @konfidentslabor #veneers #crownlengthening #rubberdam #dentalphotography #drfiraszoubi #brightsmile #aestheticdentistry #periosurgery (à Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJOU71WAE_N/?igshid=1s7x929deb7qy

Many people suffer from gums creeping too far up their teeth resulting in a gummy smile. If you suffer from excessive gums you could be in risk of gum disease as well.  Laser crown lengthening is a preferred way to remove extra, unneeded soft gum tissues and reshape the entire gum line.
Thanks to technological advances, we can treat you rapidly, giving instant results. You will be shocked at how much of an impact this comfortable and routine procedure can make.
Call us today to find out more at 619-671-0001 and visit us at https://www.functionalaestheticdentistry.com/gum-disease-treatment/

Permanently and safely reduce the look of a gummy smile. Our gums have a purpose, protecting the surrounding teeth and keeping your mouth healthier. However, no one likes to see their gums creeping too far up their teeth.

So, now I have mouth stitches
Had my functional crown lengthening procedure yesterday (to expose enough of my broken tooth below the gumline for the dentist to be able to attach a crown). It was pretty horrible but I'm glad it's over with. All things considered, I'd rather keep my teeth for as long as I can, and this is the only way I have a chance of doing that. The procedure itself felt very...rough.
Even though I was numbed up well with novocaine, I could hear and feel the scraping and pressure sensations and because they were (SQUICK!) removing bone at one point, and the force required to do this meant my head was being sort of jerked around. I also got to demonstrate my familial talent for metabolizing local anaesthesia ridiculously fast, which meant more novocaine in the middle of the thing, and the periodontist getting annoyed with me for randomly (involuntarily) sitting up.
The crud started running down my throat and making me choke and I guess when that happens, my body tends to go into survival mode. I had TOLD them specifically "If the chair is tilted all the way back, I am likely to panic and choke", but I got the impression they didn't really expect it to really happen?
That said, the staff at this office weren't jerks or anything. The main dentist guy had very good boundaries for the most part (as in, was reasonably attentive but not in that creepy "oh, you're a special one" way that some doctors have inexplicably been toward me in the past). It was just one of those things where I guess I wasn't emphatic enough in my warning, and the only reason the guy was annoyed was because the needle could have bent and injured me or something. Thankfully no injuries were sustained, and overall the procedure took maybe an hour.
I actually felt reasonably okay immediately afterward, and was going around trying to act as normal (for me) as possible once I got home. Took a bunch of advil, applied ice, answered some work emails, had miso soup for lunch, etc.
Pain didn't hit until late afternoon, once all the numbing had worn off entirely, which made for a rather unpleasant evening...I was really pissed off because from what I'd been told, I might experience "soreness and minor discomfort". NOT "oh by the way, you will be able to feel your entire upper right jawbone and where all the teeth attach to it, and you will also have a splitting headache on top of that".
It took me a while to even realize it was pain I was feeling, because I hadn't been expecting that much pain, and because that particular type of pain isn't especially familiar to me. Initially I thought I was just really angry about nothing and that my brain was refusing to cooperate "for no reason". I was trying to finish something for work (something I would normally love doing, and could normally do fairly rapidly). And then I got into this obnoxious cognitive loop of "YOU MUST FINISH THIS TASK TONIGHT IN ORDER TO PROVE YOU ARE NOT WEAK!" So I basically exhausted myself to the point of tears staring at a monitor until Matt told me that the monitor was probably making my headache worse. Which of course it was (turning it off and getting the ice pack again helped lots).
I didn't eat anything entirely solid yesterday which felt weird. Yogurt, miso, puree-ed soup, and a pudding cup at one point. Oh and a vanilla protein drink thing. Today I attempted oatmeal for breakfast but I haven't been able to finish it because oats keep wanting to drift over and stab me in the stitches. I have this ridiculous craving for peanut butter so I might try making peanut butter pudding (as eating peanut butter "straight up" would likely lead to stuff getting stuck in very bad places). Bleah.
...so, yeah, I am glad dentistry exists and all, but just because it "works" doesn't mean parts of it don't feel a tad barbaric. Probably the best part of this whole adventure is the fact that they sent me home with this amazing prescription mouthwash. I didn't get to use it yesterday because mouth-swishing on the first day can cause more bleeding, but I tried some this morning and it was seriously like...you get the feeling of having brushed your teeth without actually having done so. It's some sort of antimicrobial thing but I don't know if it's technically antibiotic...either way, it's awesome and it seems like the sort of thing that should definitely be available to anyone who has trouble brushing teeth (which I know some people do for sensory reasons as well as medical). I actually like brushing my teeth and feel incredibly weird/wrong when I don't do it so this way at least I can get rid of the sticky-nasty feeling while I'm banned from brushing.
