Gloved hands carefully opened the door to the Earl's office. Nervousness was written all over his face as he slowly entered the room. This day had been one that Gatto had both, looking forward to and feared, yet he knew that one day, he had to do this, for the sake of everyone. He had tried to go as long as possible without doing it, but the situation was getting more and more complicated with each day. When he stopped in front of D.M.'s desk, he didn't dare to look up to him, too scared to see his expression and his reaction. For a moment, he stays quiet, then takes a deep breath to finally talk. " Desrié... I have.... I have thought about it for a long time but.... I want to quit.... my job. I can't.... I can't continue to work for you... I'm... I'm really sorry.... but I'm quitting for your and my own safety... What... what we're doing is dangerous and.... I've already put myself and even you at risk... I.... I hope you understand... " His voice was shaking as he was talking. After he was done, he stood there in silence, still keeping his gaze at the ground and awaiting an answer from the other, hoping, that perhaps, he would understand it.

He could tell something was off with how Gatto entered his office, refusing to look him in the eye. Hands clasped tightly together in his lap, teeth grinding together as the other spoke. How disappointing. A dry laugh escaped him, "That's a cute joke," each word was sharp, meant to cut through his love and fill him with fear for suggesting such a thing. D.M. would be making sure the scientist went nowhere anytime soon.
Without warning, the Earl shot up from the chair, hand reaching out to firmly grasp the male's tie and pull him close, despite the desk between them. "Let me make myself very clear, you belong here, you belong to me, you aren't leaving this place or your job." Gatto was far too important, in many ways, and while this betrayal made him livid, if the other changed his mind and recounted what was said, he could find it within himself to forgive him... mostly.
"If you really care about us, our safety, you will stay and not revisit this silly idea," his free hand reached out, gently yet firmly guideing Gatto's chin to force his gaze up. "I understand this game I play, but if you don't I'll make it clear for you," a whispered threat with a burning stare.

Sometimes she wondered if things would have ended differently if she had stayed here with her parents instead of going abroad to study. Never had she expected to come back to all of this. Viola looked up at the man in front of her. For a moment, she wants to ask him something, but at the end, she decides against it. ( The past had, most likely, been forgotten by him anyway and she was not one to bring up anything of no use. ) Instead, she gently shakes her head. " There is nothing I want to say, Sir. " Her gaze wanders from him to the painting behind him, then back to him. Viola then lowered her gaze and took a deep breath in. " Actually, there is something I wanted to ask, if you allow me to, of course. " After all, she was here to find out what happened to her parents and perhaps, the other knew something. Even just the smallest hint could help her. So she would wait until he would allow it, keeping her gaze to the ground. Viola had listened to the way other maids had talked about D.M. and how they had called him a nice and kind Earl, yet she was not going to test his patience and instantly approach him with rudeness. Not when her intentions were to stay as long here as she could to find out what had happened to her parents.
His pupils narrowed as he watched the maid. He had the sense she was lying. A lot of staff did initially. It was why D.M. made portraits of his staff as "gifts".
It was much more difficult to lie under a faerie curse.
But, she didn't seem to want to talk. It wasn't urgent, so D.M. saw no reason to try and make her. His eyes slid to partly closed, and he was about to turn and continue on when he noticed her look. D.M. looked back to the painting as well.
The Muse, the authentic one he'd bought and possibly had copied for his own plans of entertainment. A beautiful, if cryptic, painting. A shame he couldn't find all of the series.
And then the maid spoke.
D.M. looked back toward her with just a hint of irritation in his eyes. And far more than a hint of it in his tone as he nearly gritted his teeth. "Think of your words before you say them, miss. There's little I despise more than being lied to."
But then he took a breath, and that irritation evaporated. The count relaxed his shoulders, shifting his weight to his good leg and cane. "You're welcome to ask," he began, voice as calm and velvety as usual. "I rarely mind answering questions.
"Is it about the painting on the wall?" He gave a quiet hum of a laugh and smiled. "Just know I might not have the answers."

Ένα από τα θεμελιώδη στοιχεία του Χριστιανισμού είναι η πίστη στον Ιησού ως ιστορικό πρόσωπο που γεννήθηκε σε συγκεκριμένη εποχή και τόπο, πραγματοποίησε απτά θαύματα, μαρτύρησε στο σταυρό και στη συνέχεια αναστήθηκε έτσι ακριβώς όπως αναφέρει η Καινή Διαθήκη. Υπάρχουν όμως εξωβιβλικές αποδείξεις για όλα τα προηγούμενα; Πρόκειται για μια αληθινή ιστορία ή για έναν ακόμα μύθο;
Η δημοσιογραφική έρευνα του Μηνά Παπαγεωργίου περιλαμβάνει δεκαεννιά συνεντεύξεις μελετητών και πανεπιστημιακών που απαντούν με εμπεριστατωμένα στοιχεία και σοβαρά επιχειρήματα στο ερώτημα: ήταν ο Ιησούς ιστορικό πρόσωπο ή όχι;
Στην έρευνα αυτή, συμμετέχουν με αποκλειστικές συνεντεύξεις οι: Δρ. Robert Price (θεολόγος), Δρ. Richard Carrier (ιστορικός), Δρ. Maria Dzielska (ιστορικός), Δρ. Gerd Ludemann (θεολόγος), Δρ. Gunnar Samuelsson (θεολόγος), Δρ. Lena Einhorn (βιολόγος και ιστορική ερευνήτρια), Δρ. Payam Nabarz (συγγραφέας και αναβιωτής του ναού του Μίθρα), Raphael Lataster (θρησκειολόγος), Earl Doherty (ιστορικός), D.M.

A shaky breath passed Gatto's lips as he stood by the door to D.M.'s office. Hesitation kept him from instantly entering, although he was sure the other had already noticed his presence. He took a deep breath before slowly walking over to the Earl, finally showing why he had been so nervous. A pair of cat ears adored his head and a cat tail was sticking out from his pants as well. With a red face, he finally came to a stop in front of the other before sitting down on his lap, not giving him a warning before doing so. Embarrassment was written all over the Scientist's face as he looked to Desiré. He was sitting, for him, rather uncomfortable on the other's lap, for reasons he didn't want to say out aloud. "..... I-I hope.... y-y-you're happy n-now... "
All of this had been the result of a lost bet, one that Gatto deeply regretted, yet he was not going to back down from the punishment that came with losing the bet.
Tumblr media
He'd heard the footsteps outside his office, and from the pause, the Earl could tell just who is was. That cute little hesitation was a dead giveaway. Knowing what was coming, Desire put his pen down, neatly stacked the papers he was working on and waited, legs crossed, hands folded neatly on his lap just in time for the scientist to poke his head in.
A smug grin adorned his face, this bet was such an easy win for him and the prize was amazing. Hands lifted, almost instinctively, as Gatto graced his lap. Arms quickly wrapped themselves around his embarrassed lover. Never losing the smile, D.M. leaned in close, whispering in the other's ear. "Oh I will be soon, you did make sure to lock the door, right?"
Without another word, D.M. reached over to a drawer on his desk, pulling out a collar, a charm on it engraved with the words, 'Desire's Kitty', and quickly slipped it around Gatto's neck before he could protest. "There, now you truly look the part love."
