Engineer: [chuckles] Never a dull moment around these two. They keep me from just sittin' in my workshop all day. Demo also likes to come in and work with me from time to time too.

Demoman: Aye! I enjoy havin' someone I can be smart with, and someone I can be not so smart with. Makes a nice balance dependin' on th'mood I'm in.

Soldier: Being around two smart people makes me feel less stupid! [grins] ..and also, it's just nice having a full bed. And people to live with that aren't constantly finding ways to get rid of me.

What are the things you like most about each other?

Engineer: Never a dull moment around these two. [wraps his arms around them both to pull them in close] I know I act fed up with these two, but it's all in good fun. They've broken up a lotta that monotony in my life, and I appreciate 'em for it.

Demoman: Well, ain't that a coincidence. [nudges him] 'Cause I was just about t'say I like havin' someone like Solly there who matches my energy, but also Engie here who enjoys havin' calm, quiet afternoons as well.

Soldier: [grins] They have the best cooking on base! [grin softens to a smile] That and, well.. they both put up with my antics.

If Demo was ever having a really bad day, what would you do to cheer him up?

Engineer: Now that's an easy one. I head to the kitchen to go make him a big thing of chicken dumpling soup.

Soldier: And I sit outside with him while Engie does that and we have a couple beers! And sometimes he'll tell me what bothering him.

Engineer: Or he tells me. Or both'a us. Just depends on who he feels like he needs to talk to.

Engineer: [chuckles] Well.. probably won't be any surprise I'm more of a country boy myself. Though some'a that rock stuff Sniper listens to ain't bad, and that metal stuff is.. kinda growin' on me. But I'd say I usually end up pickin' the music we listen to.

Demoman: I ain't all that picky, if I'm honest. [shrugs] I dunnae mind listenin' to whatever anyone else is listenin' to already. Especially these two. We don't really fight about it that often.

Soldier: As long as it's no hippie crap, I'm fine.

Demoman: ..ye listen to Sniper's music often. Ye do realize it falls under what you call hippie crap, aye?

Soldier: It's what?!

ENGINEER, DEMOMAN, SOLDIER!! where do you all sleep?

Engineer: ..I think this is the first time the three'a us got one of these.

Demoman: T'ask us where we sleep? Didn't Sniper and Spy get that one too?

Engineer: Did they? Odd..

Soldier: We often sleep in Engie's room!

Engineer: You don't have to-

Demoman: Aye, though not always. Usually it's 'cause he just won't come up fer bed, wot with workin' in his workshop. So we go down t'him instead. We still use our rooms, too.

Engineer: Now listen-

Soldier: He likes to sleep between us! Usually facing-

Engineer: [covers both of their mouths] Y'answered the question, that's enough!

“Nothin’ to be sorry for. Nothin’ to be ashamed of. Heart wants what heart wants and all that.” Engie nods to his own words, then pushes up with elbows on the table and stands. Strides closer.

“Never meant tae be a traitor.” He’s quieter here. Can’t hide behind ‘better’ words, ‘better’ pronunciations.

Engie winces at it, but nods. “I’m…sure you’ve got your reasons. You told me about several of them. Not that I fully understood, mind you. But I had a pretty good idea.”

“Ya don’t hate me? I’d hate ya hatin’ me again.” His accent begins to strengthen as he feels relief wash through his drunken body. Engie isn’t acting angry, upset, or anything like that.

Engie shrugs. “Never did, but it’s the past anyway. Trust you with my life, you know it?”

“Aye, me to you too.” Demo steps closer. “So relieved, hearing it. I think…think I’m gettin’ over the feelin’s, they just keep washing up.”

it’s not something Demoman thought about too hard. It’s just wasn’t his business, was it? However, they- uh, he and the Engineer, that was- started getting… friendlier with each other.
