Look, Adrien's defining character is "im stuck in gilded cage with and cope by practicing all the hobbies to cope". This can explain so many random bits of knowledge he has (White Horse Breeding Programs? "I begged my dad for a Horse!friend to make up for my lack of Human!friends, cause equestrianism is a RichPeople!hobby but he refused cause its an Outside!richpeplehobby! and I already had the perfect name picked out for "Mare-y Sue") but him knowing morse specificly makes like, so much sense in a headcannon sort of way?! Like i definitly think of Adrien as "I once got so lonely hoping for a non-Chloe friend i mastered the arts of Morse and Semaphore hoping to make a penpall through my window". Like i can definitly imagine a younger Adrien sitting with their legs crisscrossed on the floor, holding the switch for a single designerlamp in one hand and binoculars in the other. Methodically pressing "-… --- -. .--- --- ..- .-. / . - .-. .- -. --. . .-.", gazing at the horizon desperately hoping to see a anyone answer in kind. I guess what im saying is: I want a Young!Adrien and Marinette Morse-penpals AU! Marinette covering her balcony with colourfull christmaslights she bought at a thriftstore fort 2 euro's, deliberately contrasting Adriens 'signal from a half-million luxury brand tablelamp that only produces a clinically sterile white'

On the subject of Mary Sue's, I look for two things

1) the way the character is treated by the narrative

2) if the characters skills make sense to their backstory

Like, to me a Mary Sue is a character who is always framed as a solution.

If a problem affects the characters, the Sue will have just the right skill set to fix things. And whatever the Sue says is always framed as correct, regardless of if what they're saying or doing would actually help or be the right thing in that situation

Maribug doesn't hit either criteria. She's the narratives favorite punching bag, and she's never pulled a random skill that she shouldn't have out to fix a problem. Her main thing is how generally creative she is, and how she's able to work with what she's given, and while her ideas can get kinda nuts she's never suddenly been a genius computer hacker when they need one to save the day

Adrichat hits one of these criteria, having the narrative favor him and always frame him as correct, but as he doesn't pull out new random skills whenever the plot demands, I personally don't count him as a Mary Sue either

The only time I called bull on one of Marinette’s skills was her being good at football/soccer. That girl can’t play ball sports to save her life and they know it. Except for basketball.

| Gio Ponti was always drawing. He drew Mediterranean villas and simple prototypes of homes by the sea. He drew magazines and their covers, costumes for the Scala Theater in Milan, enamelled copper objects, coffee machines and sewing machines, handles. He designed bureaus with Piero Fornasetti, headboards, bed covers, pottery, porcelain, majolica, organized walls, self-illuminating furniture, furnished windows, light and superlight chairs, ships, building façades during the day and during the night. He drew kaleidoscope rugs and floors. And he drew lamps. He didn’t draw many, some are just archive sketches. One of these is almost an inventory of pieces, each one indicated by a small letter of the alphabet, also drawn in pencil. A series of bases, different shapes, a tripod, a cone or a square grid that resembles that of a coffee table again drawn by him. The colour schemes are mainly blue in the tiles of the Hotel Parco dei Principi, or yellow and orange in his Milanese home/studio. The lampshades are also different, cone or truncated cone shapes, made of polypropylene, aluminum or brass.
