Jughead's Diner

The histories, whether company or industry or fan, on Archie Comics always describe a spate of materials released in 1989 to 1992 under the editorship of Scott Fulop and Daryl Edelman as "experimental". I do not think the word fits in description of Jughead's Diner. This was not an experiment so much as it was a passion project from the creative team of Dan Parent and Bill Golliher. Good or bad, it is their baby, and has the feel of the two sitting at a table batting around ideas and reminisces of post war and post post war kitsch and all their vast wastelands.

The question here is ... The photograph. Dropped from republication... Why? The comic effect is destroyed -- and they do not have any ability to replace it. So instead they produce... White space. Did people in the photograph balk at inclusion -- a falling out between everyone who was -- probably at the time -- in on the joke?
