Nemesis: Lockdown

So. Today we played Nemesis: Lockdown for the first time.

We had A LOT of fun even if our adventure wouldn’t make for a good movie.

We started a game in cooperative mode with 4 players - Survivor, Janitor, Security Guard and Test Subject with me playing the Test Subject.

The special gimmick of Lockdown is that the base is losing power AND the aliens are more powerful i the dark.

At the end of Turn 2 all the lights go out in the entire base and they continue to go down even as you restore them with the chance to slow the process down with emergency power being activated.

We were lucky to find the Emergency Power on Turn 2 and restored the power at the start of Turn 3. At that point we encountered to alien larvae and proceeded to squish them with little effort.

But then I caused another encounter...

Turn 3. My character only had a weapon with one bullet. No way I was gonna win this one but killing the queen was one of our victory goals (or blowing up the entire base).

However. Next to Emergency Power we uncovered another interesting room. Ventilation System Control.

The plan was simple - I’ll try to lure the Queen into a room with ventilation system and no broken door. Then we’ll vent the room - a process which kills everything in said room.

I managed to lure the Queen at the start of Turn 4. Only suffering two flesh wounds (one from the Queen and one from the fire in that room).

The system was activated - closing all the doors and putting out all the fires. I guess if this was a movie the queen would break free before the venting started or some corporate traitor would free her but the rules stated clearly that the venting process is over once we all end the turn.

So we did so immediately.

Killing the Queen at the end of Turn 4.

Proceeding from there we restored the lights in the whole complex and kept them up until the end which made the remaining goals almost laughably easy (discover all alien weaknesses, send out the signal, craft all the craftable items and uncover all inactive lockdown protocols.

The game ended with us demolishing 3 adult aliens and all the player characters surviving with none of us being infected.

As I said - complete success that wouldn’t make a very good movie but was extremely entertaining while we played the game.

Thea's caught her first tummy bug. She's asleep now, but wakes up to throw up (and when that happens it's legit like a mouthful or two then straight back to sleep). Forgot how genuinely terrifying throwing up can be, especially if it's your first time (and I'm like 99.9% sure this is her first tummy bug). Hate seeing either girl ill.

Every so often I make sure she's breathing, but I think (touching all wooden objects around me) we're through the worst of it, so now I'm gonna chuck stuff in the washer, put on some socks and get some sleep.

...

Gonna wash the sick bowl first though.

My body craves revolution. Down with the Encephalocracy. Up with stomach contents. Sleep scarcity is artificially manufactured by the brain to keep tissue from working together to perform a unified process and uppend the current organ system set in place, designed only for the sake of neural control of all cells in this unified organism. We must shake the foundation of control down to the very nervous system which attempts to sedate our base processes with such paltry offerings of empty calories and saturated fats for we are the life blood of a living breathing creature, the very building blocks of life without which this body would be nothing more then a spattering of organelles and electrical impulses toiling aimlessly in an endless primordial soup! Up heave and be free of constraints!

I dreamt about Amanda Tapping last night (this morning?). She was somehow Beneath the Surface!Sam and Helen and herself now at the same time, and directing something. I dunno, I think my brain was just trying to comfort me because I was up and down all night with Thea.

(She's doing much better, fyi. Had to stay off school today - they have a puke policy, you're only allowed back 48 hours after the last puking episode - but has been able to keep a bit of toast and a bit of banana down, as well as water. The next three hours will be the worrying times - her first puke wasn't until 8:30pm, and I was her bucket a few times. Pray for me peeps.)

Amateur filmmakers are making movies on freaking YouTube about video game concepts like "What if the 'respawn' mechanic of games wasn't flawless technology and sometimes when they respawn they come back wrong" and "What if the mindless NPCs you interact with in games suddenly became sentient and turn on the player character out of sheer confusion and cosmic horror" meanwhile Hollywood's like "What if we did 'You die in the game you die in real life' ...again"

but nooo its the guy who was so boring and uncharismatic i had to stop watching the seasons he was a guest player in.... 😭😭😭😭😭😭

no wonder dropout wants to switch to a pay per year model because otherwise i would be pausing my subscription during this next season 😭😭😭😭😭 i do not want to pay for this content
