To be honest I think people have forgotten that egg symbolism can mean... Many things. And given that Sinclair's original literary source is about adolescence (a time of growth and change, or coming out of your shell, of hatching) it makes sense that egg symbolism is a theme for him.

Overall I really don't think he is of a trans reading when it comes to what that egg means, it lends much more to a reading of self confidence, trauma, and bodily autonomy.

Of course bodily autonomy is a very constant theme throughout Limbus Company, but in the case of Sinclair he is specifically shown to be someone who is struggling with being pressured into undergoing surgeries he does not want to have and his rejection of those surgeries is then used to manipulate him. You can read this in many ways. Honestly there is a disability lens you can apply to this, there is an intersex lens you can apply to this, hell there is a beauty standards lens you could put this under.

Sinclair is fundamentally someone who is being pressured to conform and change in order to fit one ideal or another. His shell is that pressure to be someone he is not, his shell is the trauma that surrounds him, his shell is the way he feels trapped by the inevitability of having his bodily autonomy overlooked and disregarded.

I think the point is not that he feels trapped in his own body, but rather quite the opposite. He feels trapped by the expectation that he should be uncomfortable with his body, that he should be striving to fit the standard of everyone else. He is drawn into Kromer by the fact that she doesn't see him as someone who needs to change. It is the violence that pushes him away.

In all honesty the only trans reading that would make sense to me is that addresses this, one that is centered around combatting transmedicalism and the pressure to be a certain way to be taken seriously. In that way I think if you were to read Sinclair as trans in any way he is much more likely to be read as a "boy who is not being taken seriously as a boy" a transman who does not 'perform gender correctly enough' to be taken seriously as a man.

But even then I think that his story is probably best compared to beauty standards and conformity.

Overall I think that the idea that Sinclair is someone who needs to realize that he needs to change who he is... Disregarding the entire themeing of his backstory in the first place. He is someone who needs to grow but not someone who it is necessary for him to shed who he was.
