Euro 2020 Qualifiers: Michael O'Neill says Northern Ireland will play without fear against Germany
Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill said his team would play without fear in their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifier against Germany. Sports fanatics from all over the world can now grab Germany Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy most exciting football matches.
NI leads group C with four wins in four games and hosts the Germans in Belfast on 9 September.
"I think this is the approach we need to adopt and our young players will adopt," O'Neill said.
"Although we have to adopt a game plan that also helps us to get a result," said the head of NI.
We will remind players that we have played against teams of this caliber in the past and build on those experiences. Some of our players have contributed to big results at Windsor Park and we must believe that this can happen again.
Tumblr media
We are about to play two of the best European teams in the coming months and, while Germany is an extremely difficult task, we are in the situation where we wanted to be at this stage, O’Neill said. Neill on Sportsound from BBC Radio Ulster program.
Smith 'a major doubt'
Forward Paul Smyth was removed from O'Neill's team earlier this week with Shayne Lavery replacing him, while Hearts defenseman Michael Smith is a major doubt after being injured on the tendon of Celtic last week.
Aaron Hughes retired from international football. Gareth McAuley and Kyle Lafferty were not selected from the 25 players named on Wednesday because they have not played this season yet.
We have numbers and experiences in some areas, and without the key players we have been counting on for a number of years, I hope everyone will come out unscathed.
Tumblr media
On the benefits side, Liam Donnelly is back and has had a good start to the season since becoming a fullback midfielder at Motherwell.
I'm sure Stephen Robinson did not move him there with the intention of scoring eight goals at this point of the season, but Liam is a player we've always known he has potential and we start to see him now.
The change of position has certainly helped him and he seems to be well placed, he has played a lot of football in the under 21s, he is still very young and it is a pleasure to have him.
“It's nice to see young players like Jordan Thompson and Lavery come along as well, as well as Paul Smyth and Jamal Lewis, who has managed the fast transition between the under-21s very well."

Kroos to consider Germany future after Euro 2020
Midfielder is looking forward to winning the tournament, but that could be his slogan with the national team. Football fans are waiting for thrilling performances in Euro Cup 2020. Now you can book tickets for Germany Euro Cup Tickets to support your favourite players.
German international Toni Kroos has revealed that he plans to end his career on the national team after the European Championship next summer.
Aged 29, he is already one of the most decorated German players of all time. He has won four leagues of champions, national titles in Germany and Spain, and is part of the team of his country winner of the 2014 World Cup.
Tumblr media
After the disappointing performance of the national team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, when Germany came out of the group stage, rumors that the Real Madrid player would immediately withdraw from international football.
Kroos backs 'unpredictable' Germany for Euro 2020 glory
Toni Kroos supported Leroy Sane, Julian Brandt, and Serge Gnabry to help Germany qualify for Euro 2020, describing Joachim Low's current squad as better than the one who retired from the competition.
The Real Madrid midfielder, who helped Germany win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has been optimistic for the next 12 months. As Low's men will try to redeem themselves after they leave for the next phase of groups in Russia.
Tumblr media
Gnabry and Sane were among the goals. Germany beat Estonia 8-0 in their last qualifying match. They are second in Group C with one game less against Northern Ireland.
Kroos told Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger that young creative players from Low can reverse the country's situation by saying: "I have a very good feeling for the 2020 European Championship.”
Our goal is always to dominate the matches but we're looking for more forward, especially in attack. We have players who can cause problems to teams like Sane, Brandt, Gnabry.
"It makes us more unpredictable and better than at the World Cup."
Kroos also criticized club coaches who, he says, are not developing players. But rather have pushed German stars to get results regardless of how they play.
Tumblr media
The 29-year-old playmaker spent the last five seasons at Real Madrid, where he played under Carlo Ancelotti, Rafael Benitez, Julen Lopetegui, Santiago Solari and Zinedine Zidane nourished talents.
"I would like more coaches to be attentive to the fact that their team plays football, instead of just focusing on results and points," said Kroos.
The winner of the World Cup will do everything possible to pass on the accumulated experience over the years. Kroos, however, revealed that the date of football's departure may have already been set.
He pledged to sign a four-year contract in Madrid and make an important decision about his future once these conditions are complete.

Leroy Sane will be ready for Euro 2020
German boss says despite severe knee injury, winger will be ready for UEFA's showpiece event this summer. Fans are excited to get their Germany Euro Cup Tickets to see live performances of their favorite team and players.
Germany head coach Joachim Low says injured winger Manchester City, Leroy Sane, will be able to compete at the European Championships next summer.
Germany and the former Schalke star seemed ready for an amazing Bundesliga comeback with Bayern Munich this summer, when an agreement with City would apparently be reached.
Tumblr media
But Sane fell injured in City Shield's triumph over Liverpool and was diagnosed with an ACL tear, requiring surgery and possibly sidelining him for most of the 2019-2020 season.
The injury also seems to put his participation for the 2020 European Championships next summer. Because even if he is in good health, he may lack physical fitness for the matches.
However, while Low said he was disappointed to see Sane suffer the injury. He thinks the winger will be ready in time for the Euro.
“We were very sad and downcast when we heard about it,” Low told DAZN at the half-time of the Bundesliga opener between Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin. “I had a contact with Leroy. For him and his situation, of course, it was the worst possible moment.
Tumblr media
We hope he will come back as soon as possible. He is a player of incredible quality and we wish him the best. He will do for the European Championship."
Low also spoke of the title race in the Bundesliga, which he said could be very competitive once again this season. Bayern have maintained their total domination of the Bundesliga, winning seven consecutive titles since Borussia Dortmund won two consecutive crowns in 2010-11 and 2011-12.
Dortmund nearly ended Bayern's dominance last season, leading the title race in the second half of the season. But ultimately failed despite the title win until the final day of the season.
The finalists have strengthened strongly this summer, bringing Mats Hummels from Bayern, adding Nico Schulz, as well as the exciting strikers Thorgan Hazard and Julian Brandt.
And in the summer, Low suggests that Dortmund could challenge Bayern for the title this season.
Tumblr media
"I find it very positive that Dortmund has aggressively focused on his championship goal and that he has strengthened himself very well," Low said.
“Mats Hummels - outstanding! Nico Schulz - outstanding! Thorgan Hazard - very good! Julian Brandt as well. Dortmund have reinforced very well and are a serious competitor for Bayern."
Bayern kicked off their campaign with a 2-2 draw with Hertha on Robert Lewandowski's two-goal strength and confirmed he had reached an agreement with Barcelona on a loan from Philippe Coutinho for the season.

Chelsea's next manager Gareth Southgate stays with England
Eric Dier believes it is fantastic that the England manager, Gareth Southgate, has renounced to return to football clubs while the Three Lions were turning to the glory of Euro 2020.
On the eve of his match for third place in the League of Nations, on penalties against Switzerland, Southgate was told that it was a name related to the role of the manager in Chelsea. Sports fanatics from all over the world can now grab England Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy most exciting football matches.
It is hardly surprising that the former boss of Middlesbrough appears on several lists of elite candidates after leading England in the semifinals of the World Cup last summer.
Tumblr media
He then qualified for the first finals of the League of Nations and, after falling in the Netherlands in the last four, England got the third place thanks to a 6-5 shootout victory after a match no one and virgin to Guimaraes.
Attention is now focused on improving the European Championships. Dier is delighted that the future of Southgate has gone down one year before the tournament.
"Yes, it's fantastic," said the Tottenham man when asked if it was good that Southgate refuted the rumors of his departure.
"The way he behaves, the way he looks after us the relationship between the players and the manager is fantastic.
"He has built an incredible relationship between us and the fans, the nation. The way he acts is something that we as players look up to and follow. He does things in the best way."
If England qualifies for Euro 2020, the semi-finals and final will be held at home in Wembley.
It is another thing that Dier, who often played at the national stadium with Tottenham as their new field was under construction, has a positive point of view for his summer break.
Tumblr media
"It doesn't really matter where the Championships are being held, you want to win it," he added.
But being in England is an added bonus for us, so hopefully, we can go to the semifinals and the final and the fans can play a huge role.
"It would be something of a plus to be playing those games at Wembley in front of our own fans. The support will be fantastic and there will be more of a push than if we were playing in a different place."

England’s Fabian Delph opens up over Everton transfer and rejects Man City drove him out
Fabian Delph insists that Pep Guardiola did not kick him out of Manchester City and that was his choice. The England midfielder Delph has been enjoying life at Everton since joining last week for just 8.5 million pounds.
Delph revealed he had left the champions in hopes of playing more regular football to improve his chances of selecting the Three Lions. Sports enthusiasts from around the world can purchase England Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.
Although Delph played in the two finals of the League of Nations against Switzerland and Holland last month. He knows he will need more playing time next season to retain his place in the final of Euro 2020 next summer.
Tumblr media
"I wasn’t told to leave, I could have stayed there," said Delph, who has won two Premier League titles with City but only started eight league games last season. They were happy with me and I played a key role in this team.
I spent four fantastic years in City, I really enjoyed it. I have won a lot of trophies, I have made a lot of good friends and I am sad to leave. But at the same time, I have to look forward and I have to play more regularly.
“I’d done four years and it was the right time to leave. I wanted a new challenge. I wanted to play more football, to play more regularly, and this is a great challenge. Playing for England is massive for me, it’s something which is really important for me, so if I’m playing more regularly, there’s more chance of me being selected.”
Tumblr media
After being thrown out in a Boxing Day defeat against Leicester, Delph did not make another league start but insists he has no problem with Guardiola and says the Spaniard wants him good luck when leaving City.
At aged 29 with 20 caps, Delph could be the best offer in the transfer market and wants to be a leader for Everton. He settled in front of his team-mates with a verbal barrier X rated after leaving a 2-0 lead to defeat Manchester United in 2018.
Delph now admits to being embarrassed by his language but says he will be equally vocal in Everton's dressing room. That's one of the reasons why Everton signed it: they need leaders after the departure of club captain Phil Jagielka.
Tumblr media
“I’ve not watched it. I don’t like watching myself effing and blinding — I’ve got young kids that are probably going to end up seeing that,” he said.
I've been singing since the age of 18 at Leeds United. I have always been very moved because I do not like losing too much.
“I want everybody, including myself, to be working hard, working towards the same goal, If something isn’t right, I think it’s only right you voice it rather than going into your shell and not speaking about it.”
The pessimists among the Evertonians fear that Delphi will be replaced by Idrissa Gueye, whose main role for Senegal at the recent African Cup of Nations will have added to his appeal.

Referees ready for the 2019/20 challenge
The best male and female referees in Europe have prepared for the 2019/20 campaign at UEFA's preliminary stage in Croatia - and have been encouraged to maintain their high standards.
A tough season awaits Europe's leading men's and women's referees in UEFA club and selection competitions - and UEFA's message for the coming months is simple "Work hard, be courageous and enjoy what you do." Now Fans can book their Euro Cup Tickets to support their players and favorite team.
A total of 123 officials - 72 of UEFA's elite and first-class men's categories, 31 women's and first-class referees and 20 video assistant referees - are preparing for the 2019/20 campaign this week during their summer internship. UEFA in Zagreb, Croatia.
Tumblr media
In the coming season, the referees will take charge of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Women's Champions League matches. As well as the qualifying matches for UEFA EURO 2020 and UEFA Women's EURO 2021. Next summer, the referee teams will be selected for the UEFA EURO 2020 finals in 12 European countries.
The course also included an analysis and discussions on the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system introduced in the Laws of the Game game last season and which UEFA has started to put in place in its competitions during the second half of the year of the session.
This summer, amendments to the laws of the game came into effect and the Zagreb rally served as an update session. The referees passed a validation test of the laws to consolidate and confirm their knowledge.
Tumblr media
"It's a very important season for our referees, especially for the men's referees in view of the run-up to EURO 2020," said UEFA Referees Committee chairman Roberto Rosetti.
"As usual, much of the work at the course centered on ensuring that there are consistency and uniformity in referees' decision-making in UEFA's competitions."
Rosetti was accompanied by Deputy Chair of the Referees Committee Hugh Dallas and UEFA refereeing officers Vlado Sajn and Dagmar Damková at the head of the presentations in Zagreb. That included an analysis using video clips of the events last season's UEFA matches.
UEFA's team of experts led by Werner Helsen presented the referees with their fitness training, which included the Simple Double Single High-Intensity Interval Test, introduced by UEFA to improve referee training and further, reproduce what the referee does on the field.
Tumblr media
During the course, the referees received instructions and guidelines to participate in the new campaign, in particular with regard to the VAR, which will be deployed from this season's UEFA Champions League play-offs, as well as the EURO 2020 final next summer.
Protecting players and football's image remains essential. "We have a duty to protect players from reckless challenges, serious foul play and violent conduct which endangers their safety," said Rosetti, "and we have reminded the referees of their duty in this respect."
Protecting players and the image of football remains essential. We have a duty to protect players from reckless challenges, serious foul play and violent conduct which endangers their safety," said Rosetti, "and we have reminded the referees of their duty in this respect."
Tumblr media
Rosetti described the benefits of the VAR system and noted that system tuning work would continue rapidly. "We only want to see VAR interventions when the video assistant referee has clear video images which prove a clear and obvious mistake by the referee," he explained.
The goal is to create a situation with VAR in which maximum benefit is achieved with minimal interference, and we will also try to reduce the time taken by the referee to examine an incident on the screen at the edge of the field. Of course, we want precision, but we also want to minimize the downtime of a match.
"An example of the result that we are aiming for with VAR came in the semi-finals and finals of last season's UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League – there was not one VAR intervention in these matches, and that's exactly what we want to achieve."
Tumblr media
Honest and open dialogue is a key element in the relationship between UEFA and its referees. The referees expressed their views and the Referees Committee welcomed the reaction of the match officials, who were determined to reach the highest standards.
"This is an example of the teamwork that we want on and off the field," said Rosetti.
Rosetti urged referees to strive for the highest caliber performance in 2019/20.  "They are the best referees in Europe and beyond," he stressed. "I ask them to work hard – be brave when they make decisions – and enjoy this important and fulfilling time in their lives."

Wales boss Ryan Giggs ask his team to perform better in Hungary
Welsh coach Ryan Giggs said his team must play much better in Budapest against Hungary after their 2-1 defeat by Croatia, a World Cup finalist.
David Brooks' late goal gave Osijek a brief hope in Wales, but Giggs felt his team was contributing to their own downfall. Sports fanatics from all over the world can buy Wales Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.
"We showed them far too much respect, we weren't aggressive enough early on and we made some stupid mistakes and got punished," he said.
Tumblr media
The manager added "Now we prepare for Tuesday. Hungary is a hard-working, physical team, but we will need to play a lot better to get anything out of it."
'A missed chance'
Croatia led 2-0 thanks to a goal from James Lawrence and the attack of Ivan Perisic, a victim of a defensive disaster.
Manager Giggs lamented his team's loss in qualifying for Euro 2020, calling it a "missed chance". As leaving Wales to regret their defensive mistakes and poor finish in their attempts to find an equalizer.
"When you end the game like that and have the chances we had, you've got to be disappointed and it's definitely one that got away," said Giggs.
I told the players that we had missed a chance, especially with the way we finished the match. We stayed so strong, and when that stretched, Croatia had opportunities on the break, but you expect that.
"We looked at the adjusted side at the end." We looked like those who were pushing and it seemed that Croatia was clinging.
Tumblr media
"With how strongly we ended the game, you have to be disappointed. It is one that got away."
Brooks in contention for Hungary
After defeating Slovakia in their first fixture, Wales are now third in Group E, three points behind Croat leaders and seeded Croatia.
While the first leg against last year's World Cup runner-up - an undefeated home team since 2013 - was still likely to be Wales' toughest match of the season, the loss was frustrating.
Much of the damage was self-inflicted, with Welsh defensive errors contributing to both goals. The late Wales rally was at least encouraged, Brooks came on the bench to mark and inspire a great improvement from the visitors.
Tumblr media
Brooks is the current player of the year in Wales but was left on the bench as a recent injury limited Bournemouth's attacking midfielder to only two training sessions before that game. However, with Wales in Hungary for another qualifying match on Tuesday, Giggs said the 21-year-old had a chance to start in Budapest.
"I understand [why people wanted Brooks to start in Croatia] because he scored the goal and looked lively when he came on, but he couldn't have started the game because he's only done two days and you saw the conditions and we have other players fit," said Giggs.
I can understand because he is such a talent and he made the difference when he came in. But if I have to make those decisions, he can go on and make an impact as he did.
It was hard to leave him on the bench but it was the right thing to do.

Euro 2020 qualifiers - Alvaro Morata tops Spain to a 2-0 victory against Malta
Spanish football team crushed Malta by 2-0 in Euro Cup 2020 qualifiers. A goal in each half by striker Alvaro Morata gave the guests the points in a monotonous meeting. Spain controlled possession in the whole match.

In view of the variance in class between the two teams, a 2-0 scoreline was amazement in Malta. Striker Alvaro Morata has scored 15 goals for the Spanish team. Striker Alvaro Morata scored more than any other Spanish player since his entrance in November 2014.
However, there was a lack of inspiration in the Spanish attack. The chemistry between Striker Morata and winger and attacking midfielder Marco Asensio should have been red-hot against poor protection.
It was not so extensive ago that Spanish team would have revolved this type of game into a preparation match. The goals were hovering in from all quarters. It seems those days have gone and the team is in changeover after a tough and unsatisfactory 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Tumblr media
Striker Morata recent presented he does not have the profundity of excellence to perform in the Premier League with Chelsea. There are similar symbols present for the striker in his country's shirt.
The 26-year-old lacks the overall predatory nature of Spain's former striking greats, but his goal tally proves he is the best his country currently has. Asensio should grow into a world-class player, but at 23, he is still learning to operate with uniformity on the international stage.
Morata has already been through the process, and the expectations for his career have been tapered since he joined the Blues from Real Madrid. The player shortages the personality and battle to lead Spain to the later phases of Euro Cup 2020. Spain manager Luis Enrique needs to find a new method for achievement in the coming months.

For Euro Cup 2020 qualification, well known in football world ex-player Vladimir Weiss called a very young and talented team. Most of the players are participating in Poland’s, Austria’s, Swiss and Belgium’s highest leagues. In this group, they have all the chances to fight for a 3rd place and show their potential even to top teams.
Switzerland team is at number 8 in FIFA ranking. Swiss team performance was great last year. They qualified to World Cup 2018 in Russia from second place in the group, through the promotion Finals. They won against Northern Ireland in a very tough match.
Tumblr media
Switzerland gets a chance to play in the most reputational tournament in football. Moreover, they have drawn the game with Brazil and took second place in the group. They met with Sweden in 1/8 Finals and unfortunately lost the match. Moreover, they controlled the game by possession, they made more goal attempts and pressed Sweden, however, opponents were luckier.
After the World Cup, they played two friendly matches and 4 games in UEFA Nations League. Moreover, they won the group 2 in League A and will play in Playoffs for the trophy. Most interesting is that they played a decisive match against Belgium and won in a high resultative match by 5:2 at Swissporarena.
Switzerland called up a much-combined team with experienced and young players. Most of them are from Bundesliga, Swiss Super League, and the Premier League. We can expect great results from this team and fight in every match.

Euro 2020 - 5 England hopefuls who need to shine in 2019/20 to make the Three Lions squad
Last year's World Cup was brilliant. England took pride in qualifying for the semi-finals, with Ashley Young in the left-back. Gareth Southgate - tactical genius. This summer has been quieter and has already inspired people to anticipate what is expected next year at the 2020 European Championships.
England seems almost assured of its place in the tournament after recording 5-0, 5-1 wins against the Czech Republic and Montenegro in March to launch their qualifying campaign. Fans from all over the world can buy England Euro Cup Tickets online.
Here's a look at some of the players who need to get their best form this season, alongside some of the youngest hopefuls that could make their mark if they dazzle in 2019/20.
Dele Alli
When Alli first came on the scene, he was one of the most exciting talents this country has known for a long time. A striking midfielder who appeared in the surface at the right moment - the world was his oyster.
Tumblr media
Yet, a disturbing trend has emerged. Having scored 18 goals in the Premier League in the 2016/17 season that number was cut in half the following year and increased to only five last season. Sure, he had injury problems but it's still a bad return for someone of his talent.
The 23-year-old needs to return to what has served him well in his first seasons at Tottenham. Another season like the last and Alli may well be left out next summer.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Oxlade-Chamberlain missed almost the entire 2018-2019 campaign with a knee injury in April 2018. He must now remind everyone what he can do. His setback came at the worst possible time. He seemed ready to play a leading role at the 2018 World Cup after impressing the Reds midfielder tremendously, but that dream was ruined.
Tumblr media
Kieran Trippier
Trippier was arguably the best player in England at the 2018 World Cup. Harry Kane finished the tournament with the Golden Boot, but in the overall competition, Trippier has always been impressive and scored an exceptional free kick in the semi-final against Croatia.
Tumblr media
Last season everything went wrong. He made a series of mistakes and was seen by many as the weak link in Tottenham Hotspur, an otherwise exceptional group.
Now, Trippier has joined Atletico Madrid this summer and will work under Diego Simeone, a coach known for making his team difficult to dismantle. Trippier has hinted that behind-the-scenes problems have made him leave London, and he hopes for a change of fortune in the Spanish capital.
Luke Shaw
Shaw was one of Manchester United's top players last season. That would normally mean something, but given United's poverty in 2018/19, it just means it was not awful.
Still, it's fair to say that last season was a step in the right direction for the full-back. He established himself as a regular on the first team, which he had struggled to do since his arrival in 2014. He had managed to avoid any major injury that would have hindered his progress in recent years.
However, he was still struggling to make his way through the English team, finding himself below Ben Chilwell and Danny Rose in the order of precedence. As a teenager on his arrival in Southampton, Shaw was to become England's left-back for years to come. It did not work that way.
The feeling is that there is more to come by the age of 24. If he moves to another level this season, it will be difficult for Southgate to continue to ignore it.
Rob Holding
Holding saw its season shortened by a serious knee injury. It was not only a devastating blow for the player himself, but also for the Arsenal fans who had to spend the rest of the season watching Shkodran Mustafi play instead.
Tumblr media
The defense of Arsenal has been a concern for years, but it was hoped that Holding could solve some of their problems. He was playing well before his injury and hopes to rediscover this level of performance when he returns at the start of next season.
After watching John Stones make the nightmare of all the nightmares of the defeat of the League of Nations against the Netherlands in June, the country is desperate to find a strong defender before next summer. Holding could claim this place this season.

Ben Davies join Wales for the Euro 2020 qualifiers
Tottenham defender Ben Davies joined the Wales squad after being knocked out of the Euro 2020 qualifier against Croatia and Hungary. Wales’s manager Ryan Giggs left Davies out of his group in last week's 2 games, saying the left-back had been disrupted by a groin problem throughout the season.
The 26-year-old was expected to undergo surgery after the Spurs' participation in the Champions League final against Liverpool to correct the problem.
A statement from the Wales Football Association, said: “Ben Davies has joined up with the Wales squad this morning as his scheduled treatment has been postponed.”
The availability of Davies is a boost for a Wales team that beat Slovakia to start their Euro 2020 campaign. Sports fanatics from all over the world can now grab Wales Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy most exciting football matches.
Tumblr media
But it remains to be seen if two matches in four days is too much for Davies and whether he plays in the second match against Hungary in Budapest. Daniel James, Swansea's exciting winger, also joined the group after the death of his father, Kevan.
James, who was heavily involved in a £ 15 million summer transfer to Manchester United, missed Wales' training camp in Portugal last week after being on personal leave.
Giggs confirmed that James could still miss the double-header of the Euro 2020 series with details of upcoming funerals. But the 21-year-old who scored the winner against Slovakia will now be part of those matches.
Tumblr media
"For me, football comes in second place in these situations and that's what Dan chooses," said Giggs.
"But as a manager, I'm delighted to have him, given what he has done in the last six months."

Seamus Coleman sorry to let Ireland fans down with flat performance in the Euro 2020 qualifiers
Seamus Coleman regrets that Ireland was not able to present a show to fans of the Aviva. However, the captain of the Republic of Ireland is confident he will support the team during the second half of the campaign to qualify for Euro 2020. Fans from all over the world can buy Republic Of Ireland Euro Cup Tickets online.
“We got three points, we are on 10 points from 12 but we were disappointed probably with our final third play,” he said this morning as he reflected on the 2-0 victory over Gibraltar.
We probably have not been patient enough sometimes. We probably felt we needed a big score, that's what everyone expected. So we were trying to score for each attack instead of keeping the ball for a moment in the last third, reducing it and creating opportunities.
Tumblr media
The captain said that after the final whistle, Mick McCarthy had insisted on reminding a moderate Irish dressing room of his healthy position at the top of the group table after four games.
He came in and said, "I do not know why you're so do, I know we could have performed better and all the rest."
But he was looking for 10 points out of 12 and that's what he got, he knows we're going to improve against the bigger teams. I think we've been disappointed because we wanted to do a show - we're at home, we played right foot recently, we were pretty positive.
Then we felt the need to impress a bit more, we did not do that, Darren did not have much to do in the second half. It was just that we were not patient enough in the last third and we were not clinical enough.
Tumblr media
The Donegal man said he regretted that the flat performance of Ireland is not a good night for the fans.
I think no matter how awesome you skilled, the crowd feeds on what you do in the field. Sometimes it was a little flat because we were a bit flat, and then when we scored the atmosphere was good.
Our fans are our best and that's why I was disappointed not to have presented a show a bit more for them because they spent a lot of money coming to watch us too.
"I've no questions about how they'll view us going forward, they've always supported us through good and bad times. When we're out there I always feel fully supported by the fans."
“And we have 10 points out of 12 and it's a good start for us, we're looking forward to it now and I know the fans will follow us every step of the way."
