A First Prototype and Swim
Last night I finished finally the first casting of a fin. It was honestly a nightmare scramble to fix and salvage things last night. Though I did manage it eventually!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dolphin Fin Prototype 1
I painted it to look vaguely like a southern right whale dolphin, but then I painted the wrong side so it is a soutern wrong whale dolphin I guess.
I had some trouble with the stiffner and it really did not help much. I would uo casting this one without the stiffener.
But tonight with the part cured, I went for a swim I had scheduled. Main things I noted is that the fin is really comfortable compared to others I have worn. It is also quite a bit denser than the water that it is noticable. It is also very floppy unfortunately. Very floppy in a way that is deeply inefficient and distracting. The tips flop about pretty uselessly and the centre bends down pushing material into the toes. However it is functional, and for a first prototype I think really quite good.
I think it is around 70%. I am going to try to inprove the stiffness and the density. I may also reduce the size of the foil but I am unsure on that one. I also have ideas how to improve the smoothness and reduce the casting lines. I have the pool again in three weeks. I am both excited and nervous. It takes me around a week to make a set of moulds plus the time designing them as well as I am thinking to CNC them flat and smooth to conpensate for the errors in the FDM machine. It is just rather funny in the context how short three weeks actually is.
The past few weeks I have been pushing sp hard to get to this point and I am utterly exhausted, however seeing this fin and seeing how well it came out. It has really reinvigorated myself. Someday I will swim again, forever.

Ruminations on the Fierce Deity, and other Masks
What is the Fierce Deity? That's been the question since Majora's Mask came out. Aonuma told us something a few years back - The Mask contains "the memories of all the people of Termina."
What does that mean?
Tumblr media
Let point out that in the land of Termina, Masks are Magic. This is not limited to Link or the Happy Mask Salesman. In Kafei's sidequest, we see the couple put two masks together, and a new Mask is born out of thin air.
Tumblr media
Some fans believe that the Fierce Deity might have been an ancient God. But, with this observation in mind, the Fierce Deity's Mask could have genuinely manifested wholly by itself.
How did Majora get the Feirce Deity's Mask?
Tumblr media
(Side note - there used to be a theory that Majora created the Fierce Deity Mask, but I think we can discard that because we never see Majora create any masks.)
Did you know that the Gossips Stones mention the Fierce Deity's Mask? "The Fierce Deity Mask, a mask that contains the merits of all masks seems to be… somewhere in this world…"
Gossips stones are like hubs used to communicate gossip between the Sheikah and their allies. The FDM allegedly contains the merits of ALL masks, not just the ones Link acquires in game, you can assume. So that would make it a very powerful mask.
We know that the HMS likes to collect rare masks, so it is very likely the Happy Mask Salesman had it with him when he was attacked by the Skull Kid. It is also likely that he carried the Boss Masks that would be used to "imprison" the Four Giants.
Tumblr media
What are the Four Boss Masks?
Majora's Mask takes place in the three days leading up to "the Carnival of Time" and it is tradition to wear masks during the carnival. Let's remember that The Legend of Zelda series has a lot of it's roots in Japanese Shinto traditions, and in Japan there are several festivals where masks are very popular, including ones of demons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The four boss masks could be common Festival Masks in Termina, representing powerful monsters from each of the regions folklore.
Or, they might actually be rare masks worn by the real monsters, that he Happy Mask Salesman managed to collect.
Majora imprisoned the Four Giants in the form of each Boss Monster, maybe as a way of mocking their helplessness in the situation. (Or very simply to get them out of the way, while he destroys the world.)
That is also essentially what he did to Link. Skull Kid transformed him into a Deku Scrub to get him out of the way.
(I guess the Triforce of Courage allowed to Link to remain in control of himself, instead of "disappearing" into his new identity. There could be an alternate universe where Link assumed the role of the Deku Butler's son.)
The Four Giants became linchpins of Majora's plans. Since the Giants protect each of the territories, he to get them out of the way. Once the Giants were under his control, Majora could wreak havoc across the four lands. It's a bit strange that the Boss Monsters are disconnected from whatever ails the land. For example, Ghot isn't making things cold, and Gyorg isn't what is making the seas boil. They're just the fulcrum where Majora's curse radiates from.
Tumblr media
It could be the Feirce Deity was the one who slew the original versions of the Boss Monsters. Or, more accurately, in the ancient times Termina was beset by monsters, and the feelings of the people of Termina manifested a powerful Mask that a hero wore to destroy the monsters.
Alternatively, an ancient hero performed so many good deeds, that a mask he carried, could have transformed into the Fierce Deity Mask after his passing. Then the mask itself was revered and worshiped as the mask of a Hero.
The Fierce Deity represents the positive energy, good feelings, and good deeds of all the people in Termina. The perfect foil for Majora's Mask, that thrives on the energy of despair and misery.

It's now been a year since my sister passed away. This past week Camp About Face held a... Melmorial for her down at Bradford Woods in Indiana.
Tumblr media
More after the break but I think I've gotten closure since then. That and I think for the next few years I'm going to paint up a full Star in her honor. I finished the Hammerhead last year and this year, a Stormcrow TC/K. We'll see how things go from here.
Tumblr media
So it has been one year to the day now that we held her funeral. I suppose it's true what they say. There'll always be a hole where someone leaves when they're gone but in time you'll grow around it. There will always be that random instant where you get slammed full force with and emotional brick of sorrow but in time you learn to at least move with the blow instead of against it. I won't have as much as much to write down this time around.
Riley's Children Hospital and Camp About Face decided to commemorate my sisters time here with a park bench. We haven't quite hammered down where it will end up there but we're leaning towards the Memory Garden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She was very fond of this place. Not just the Memory Garden but the whole camp. I felt a peace there I hadn't felt in a while.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm glad I finally got down there to see it. It was always just kind of Mel's space for years. Apparently while things were starting to go bad during the end she would relate to my Father about her times there, the switchback trails, and the woods. I feel it matched up with what she told him. I'll miss her.
As strange as a tribute as this sounds, I have decided to paint up a Star of Mechs in the colors she chose for the Hammerhead.
Tumblr media
Probably a bit weird, a bit touched in the head but hey, it's how my strange little mind works.
Tumblr media
So I chose a Stormcrow TC/K for her second Mech. Specifically the Premium version from Catalyst. This particular release has had a bit of infamy as they somehow managed to invert the arms, turn it into a southpaw. This works nicely for me as my sister was left handed. Seems fitting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm particularly proud on how it turned out. I used almost the same paints as last time of course, along with my usual fixation on glow in the dark pop. Although the basing is somewhat of a flourish. Earlier this year we went down to San Diego to visit family and the beach where we scattered some her cremains to the Pacific. So yeah I took some of the sand from the beach and used it as basing for the hex, along with a tuft of tundra grass from green stuff world and a bit of glow in the dark support from a FDM 3D printer. I have also took sond sand from the beach in Bradford Woods to use for the next Mech in the Star. Anyone know of some other southpaw Mechs?
Tumblr media
Going from morbid to slightly less morbid, or at least a different kind of morbid. I know I'll never forget my sister and will always have her in the back of my head but she wouldn't want me to dwell on her passing any long than I have to. To quote her exactly, "Get over it". She'd also roll her eyes in the way only she could do. So I will endeavor to continue onward.
We have started going through some her personal odds, ends, journals, and recordings from over the years so I'll leave you all with a note she got from a friend on her birthday a few years back.
Tumblr media
P.S.- here's a direct link to when she first passed away and me completing her Hammerhead.

ok, so here's take 3. on the right is the regular 100% file - big and imposing but morteks can't see over the side. on the left is the 80% wall - the morteks look good on top, and the scale is more appropriate to the game table (and I think closer to the height of the gw studio terrain), but the lower height loses a lot of presence. less "mighty castle" and more "border fort".
In the middle is a 100% wall segment with a modified wall topper print that raises the floor a few millimeters to give my baby bones a little boost to see over the side. And I think it works really well! Makes the full size walls I already printed usable.
So with that as an option the question of which scale to print at is entirely down to presence vs. tabletop functionality. I'll probably print both sizes eventually, but I've got a couple days to think about it, as the 0.2mm nozzle has arrived, so it's time to try printing a mini.
Resin quality is obviously not on the table, but I've seen example prints of bulkier, boxier models like space marines that are plenty good for the game table. but can fdm manage for skinny fragile undead stuff? Probably not, but we'll see.

Major telecommunications companies are investing heavily in 5G infrastructure, with projected cumulative investments exceeding $1 trillion globally by 2030, driving parallel growth in supporting technologies like video multiplexers.
Smart City Deployments Fueling Surveillance Sector Demand
Urban surveillance systems are increasingly incorporating video multiplexers to manage the growing volumes of CCTV footage from smart city projects. Modern multiplexers can process inputs from thousands of cameras while maintaining high-resolution output for security monitoring. With over 500 smart city projects currently active worldwide, each deploying hundreds to thousands of cameras, the market for surveillance-grade multiplexers is experiencing 20-25% annual growth. Advanced features like AI-enabled threat detection and automatic camera switching are further enhancing the value proposition of these systems in public safety applications.
MARKET RESTRAINTS
Latency Issues in Real-Time Applications Challenge Market Penetration
While video multiplexers offer bandwidth efficiency, they often introduce processing delays that can impact time-sensitive applications. In live broadcasting scenarios, particularly sports and news coverage, even milliseconds of latency can create synchronization issues between multiple camera angles. The most advanced multiplexers currently achieve latency figures around 50-100ms, which remains problematic for applications requiring sub-30ms performance. This technical limitation restricts adoption in fields like live esports production and high-frequency trading surveillance where real-time performance is critical.
High Implementation Costs Deter Small-Scale Operators
The substantial capital expenditure required for professional-grade video multiplexing systems presents a significant barrier to entry for smaller media companies and local broadcasters. Entry-level systems capable of handling 4-8 HD streams typically start above $5,000, while enterprise solutions for major broadcast centers can exceed $500,000. Additionally, the specialized hardware requirements often necessitate costly infrastructure upgrades, including high-capacity storage solutions and specialized networking equipment. These financial barriers limit market expansion among budget-conscious operators in developing regions and niche markets.
Standardization Challenges Across Regions
The lack of universal standards in video compression protocols creates compatibility issues that hinder seamless market growth. While many regions have adopted H.265/HEVC as the standard for high-efficiency video coding, different countries implement varying profiles and extensions of the standard. This fragmentation forces manufacturers to produce region-specific hardware variants, increasing development costs and complicating supply chain management. The ongoing transition to newer codecs like AV1 and VVC further compounds these challenges during the interim adoption period.
MARKET OPPORTUNITIES
Cloud-Based Multiplexing Solutions Present New Revenue Streams
The shift towards virtualized broadcasting infrastructure is creating demand for software-defined video multiplexing solutions. Cloud-based multiplexers eliminate the need for expensive hardware while offering superior scalability – a single virtual instance can typically handle twice the number of streams as equivalent hardware at 40% lower operational costs. Major cloud providers are actively developing media-specific services, with the cloud video processing market projected to grow at 28% CAGR through 2030. This transition enables broadcasters to implement flexible pay-as-you-go models while reducing their physical infrastructure footprint.

In the ever-changing academic environment of today, education has no longer stayed tethered to books and lectures. Because of the real world, schools, colleges, and training institutions are heavily investing in Innovative STEM Lab Solutions to provide a balance between theory and practice. These modern setups have allowed students to hone their scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical abilities through experimentation, problem-solving, and design thinking.
For those teachers, administrators, or institutions willing to update their infrastructure, the following are the main STEM lab solutions that will make a difference in 2025.
Modular lab stations
A modern STEM lab is, by definition, very flexible. Modular lab stations are perfect in a school where the space must sometimes be used for robotics, sometimes for chemistry, and sometimes for electronics. These stations usually have moving workbenches, moving storage, and integrated power supplies, making them perfect for interdisciplinary learning.
Why it works:
Efficient use of space
Facilitates teamwork and solo work
Adapting to different grade levels and projects
Robotics & Automation Kits
Being widely accepted in industries, automation is the need of the hour for STEM kits. Robotics kits consist of Programmable Robots, Sensors, Servo motors, and AI Integration kits that allow students to build their robots, program them, and control them.
Our Top Picks:
Arduino-based Robotics Platforms
LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime
Raspberry Pi + sensor modules
The kits offer an excellent opportunity to market coding and engineering skills in a manner that is both entertaining and practical.
FDM 3D Printers and Rapid Prototyping Setup
3D printers are no longer a luxury—they remain a must-have. They enable students to build their prototypes, test their mechanical models, and engage in product design. Increasingly, schools are embedding 3D printing into STEM pedagogy so that students can apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems.
Benefits:
Enhances spatial and design thinking
Promotes iteration and creativity
Encourages integration across various subjects (science and art, for instance)
Interactive Digital Boards and Simulation Tools
Chalk and blackboards are a thing of the past. Digital smart boards and simulation software enliven the abstract concepts of STEM, such as chemical reactions or circuit UML diagrams. Teachers have real-time data at their fingertips, can draw on touch screens, and engage students in solving problems together.
Combined with Arduino simulators, circuit design software like Tinkercad, or tools for virtual dissection, it makes the lab intelligent and fun.
IoT- and AI-Based Learning Modules
In 2025, IoT- and AI-based experiments will be part of every competitive mainstream STEM education. Cutting-edge labs are equipped with sensors, cloud dashboards, and microcontrollers to help students build all kinds of smart projects, such as home automation projects, temperature monitoring systems, or AI chatbots.
The solutions prepare the students to think beyond conventional science and prepare tech jobs of the future.
Curriculum-Aligned STEM Kits
Curriculum-aligned STEM kits, thus, remain relevant for teaching. These kits are uniquely designed to meet the lesson plans, experiment manuals, safety instructions, and real-world problem-based learning content required by the curriculum. They are made for specific classes and subjects with which CBSE, ICSE, IB, or state boards can identify.
Features to look for:
Subject-specific kits (Biology, Physics, Chemistry)
Safety compliance (CE, ISO certifications)
Teacher guides and student workbooks
Cloud-Based Lab Management System
Heading into 2025, cloud-based lab management platforms are becoming more and more popular. This allows instructors to track inventory, log student experiments, manage schedules, and upload student reports onto the cloud, thereby cutting down the paperwork and boosting the efficiency of the lab as a whole.
STEM-Learning Corners in Classrooms
These STEM corners in regular classrooms find favor with many schools, especially for the many that do not have the funds for the full-blown labs. Here little places house essential kits, puzzles, experiment tools, and DIY stations where students can entertain themselves exploring topics on their own.
This makes the STEM field much more approachable and far more interesting from an early age.
Conclusion
The year 2025 marks a decision point for investing in Innovative STEM Lab Solutions: choosing to invest is no longer an option but really a must. Through robotics kits, IoT modules, and modular workstations, these solutions pre-emptively prepare students for the future by instilling critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
If your institute is planning a STEM lab upgrade, select the supplier who understands academic requirements and contemporary technology trends. Tesca Global has earned recognition as a name offering second-to-none, affordable, and curriculum-aligned STEM lab solutions customized for schools, colleges, and universities worldwide.

Ok, with terrain printing temporarily on hold as I decide between 80% scale and 100% scale but with boosted floors, and with my 0.2mm nozzle delivered, I figured I'd see how the A1 handles miniatures, with mixed results.
First I tried a few support-free d&d minis from Teirale on Printables. These came out very nicely, so I decided to try something a bit more ambitious - a multipart skeleton horseman from Lost Kingdom miniatures meant for resin printing. While the detail was there, sadly the fdm supports were a problem, in a couple places being insufficient to successfully print and in most others being too excessive, making it impossible to extract the model without destroying it.
I could try tinkering with support settings some more, or chopping the parts into even more, easier to support parts, but I just don't think there's any way fdm is going to manage something like this, even if I do think the print resolution itself is actually good enough.
Still, while I won't be printing up an army of finely detailed skeleton guys, I should be able to provide some supplemental models for my room mate's D&D campaign, and that's more than I was expecting.

Fromage De Moon What?
Some of you may be wondering what is Fromage De Moon?
Why have I been only been talking about the prequals when there isn't any actual Fromage De Moon?
Who are these characters and what are their end goals?
Why are they British?
Well ito answer most of these questions; Fromage De Moon is a film script that I (The Writer and Head Director of the Studio) have been writing since 2019.
After constant rewrites and constant problems in life (including the fiasco of creating Cardiff Bay Bank Holiday Television,) I realnised that these characters might never get to see the light of day.
So i decided to write a small side story to be added in to the 2nd part of CBBHT, which got shelved due to more complications with production so i decided to release it as a stand alone.
The Short worked out so good and took less time and fuss to make than CBBHT 1 (which took 2 and a Half years), we at HFS decided to make more of FDM and slowly introduce everyone to the world of these characters.
So what is FDM?
FDM is a story about some youths (teenagers) that set up their own space agency "The Chorleywood Aerospace Society" (CWAS) with their end goal of getting a person into space and then to the moon.
Members of the CWAS include:
Jebadiah (Jeb) Lowne, Ace Pilot, Scored Top Notch in flight Simulator and Kerbal Space Program, a man with high grades in Physics, Maths and Science. Jeb is a leader character, even thought there isn't a boss or a manager position of the CWAS, Jeb has always seemed to be a role model leader of the group, despite some of his quirks and mishaps.
Owen Sinclair, Ground Control Flight Director and Chief Engineer of the CWAS with degrees in Aerospace and Electronics, designer of most of the CWAS's Space Craft and computers, with a little help from his friends. He's very serious is matters but he is very light hearted one you get to know him.
Kevin Pipe, Test Pilot, whist not being so igh up in all of the academics apart from GCSE in Math, English and Science, Kevin tries is best to help in any way he can. After a raffel draw of who should be the first into space, once they have figured out how to stop them from blowing up, Kevin's name came up, despite Jeb being a better pilot in Flight Simulator 98 and Kerbal Space Program. Kevin was excited and couldn't wait to get up there into the stars, this he thought was his destiny...
...until he witnessed the 1st unmanned test flight.
There are other members of the CWAS, but revealing them here would lead to Spoilers!
As for why their British, well...
