Winter Steelhead Fly Fishing Report
Wildwaters reports on 3.24.19
Our guides continue to find late-season steelhead success in NorCal, Southern OR and on the coast. Weather has been spectacular recently meaning t-shirts and sunscreen.
Tumblr media
Although the forecast of rain is looming out there once again we are not seeing any dire predictions of gully washers so favorable conditions should prevail as we approach the end of the month and early April.
Tumblr media
I strongly suggest for those of you still twitchy for chasing the beast times growing short and you will only have yourself to blame, give us a shout to live the dream rather than dreaming of what could have BEEN such as this 93 yr. youngster we just guided.877-934-7466

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report
John Rickard reports on 3.14.19
Klamath River Fishing Report.
Our guides will be on the Klamath River this weekend running boats down the Iron Gate stretch. The water is high and off-color but where you can get good drifts, the fishing remains consistent.
Tumblr media
In steelhead fishing there is a massive difference between brown water and greenish-brown water, learn to love the off-color and use tactics that will let you present your fly properly to the unsuspecting fish.
March is the time when some of the biggest Klamath steelheads are caught and we hope to get into them.
Downriver the tributaries are pumping water and it quickly gets un-fishable, but up top we still have acceptable flows. (currently 1600 CFS). There are a couple weeks left on this river and we hope to see you out there. Give us a call to book a boat. 1-877-934-7466

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report
Wildwaters reports on 1.31.19
The Klamath continues to have a solid steelhead season. The rains have brought in a new push of fresh fish into the upper end above I-5 and with it the bigger winter fish.
Tumblr media
Our guides are reporting fish up to 10 ibs. coming to the net which for the Klamath is a very good fish. We have been taking fish drifting nymphs under a bobber and also out of the boat swinging through some the mellow lazy water. Pressure is nonexistent and excellent weather is forecast for the next week.
Tumblr media
Think about this river for your next steelhead adventure. The shop has a great assortment of steelhead flies, leader and tippet for this river so pop in and get your arsenal restocked. We also have excellent Klamath guides for this prime time, give us a shout.

The Klamath River remains a very good option as well.. you can expect to see most of the smaller half pounders move out and some of the larger fish show up in December. We have a few guide days still available between now and New Years.

McCloud River Fly Fishing Report
Chuck Volckhausen reports on 9.6.18
The Hirz Fire is still burning up the McCloud arm from Shasta Lake.  The river is still open at The Nature Conservancy and above and the fishing is good if you can take the smoke.  Some days are worse than others.
Tumblr media
I’ve been fishing as far North as the Williamson and as far West as the lower Klamath.  It’s hard to get out of the smoke.  The fishing is good though.
Tumblr media
The Klamath river has some fish coming in and we caught some.  Water temps are warm and we’ll be waiting a bit to get after those fish.

Klamath River fly Fishing Report
Rick Cox reports on 2.28.19
Thanks to all who popped in to our booth at the Pleasanton Fly Fishing show last weekend. We got a chance for some great face time to promote our team of guides and the many fly fishing opportunities that we offer in the north state.
Tumblr media
Currently, the fishing report here isn’t good with everything blown out after days of pounding rain and snow.....however the Upper Klamath River believe it or not is not affected, Irongate releases are 1600cfs which is manageable for us and steelhead are being caught. For you steelhead junkies this currently is your only option. Give us a shout.

We have been pounded with snow and rain for quite a few days now but unlike all other nearby rivers, the Klamath remains in excellent shape.

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report
John Rickard reports on 1.4.19
The Klamath River Fishing Report:
Holidays behind us, it is again time for us all to focus back on fishing. We’ve had a week of nice winter weather, but rainy days are a coming. The Klamath River has been consistent. Guide trips below Iron Gate are giving their expected quota and seeing the best fishing mid-day. (as the temps rise). Mid-River there is more solitude and more hit or miss fishing.
Tumblr media
The hits are better then you get upriver, but there are way more misses. The popular spots have been seeing their anglers this season.  The cold water we have now certainly changes the bite. Whether you’re swinging or side-drifting,  your set up and sensitivity better be dialed. As this coming week brings ample rain to expect the creeks to rise and put the fish on the move. We will be out there and look forward to seeing everyone hooked up.
Happy 2019! Wild Waters Fly Fishing, had a great year, with some fantastic fishing, excellent bookings, awards, accolades, publications, and growth (business, team, boats). We want to thank Lost Coast Outfitters for being a great contributor to our success.

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report
Joh Rickard reports on 1.24.19
The Klamath remains one of the safest bets for good fishing. Boats are getting their expected numbers and a few larger size steelhead are showing up. The tributaries swelled last week and many of the holding fish shot up to spawn. New fish are still pushing up river and February is the month we see the biggest. The Iron Gate Float to I-5 is the most viable section to find success.

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report
Chuck Volckhausen reports 12.6.18
The rain moved fish around in all the local streams and rivers.  It’s what we’ve been waiting for all season.   Snow is getting deeper on Mt Shasta and some bigger fish have made an appearance with the dirty water.
Tumblr media
Hopefully, the rain continues and with it pods of moving fish.  Most of these fish will be quick to get to their safe zones with weather like we’ve been seeing, so have fun out there!
A keeper for the BBQ.  She fought like hell and we almost let her go.  Instead, we said our thanks and my girlfriend, her mom, and I ate this one for dinner.

Klamath River Report
The steelhead are here and the run of early fish has been very good. A lot of half pounders so far but there are definitely adults in the mix.
Tumblr media
Reports from the lower river indicate this strong start to the season will continue as more more fish enter the system. Fish are being taken on single handed and two handed rods swinging and on the bobber with a couple of bugs hung off it.

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report
Rick Cox reports on 9.28.18
The Klamath and Rogue River
Wild Waters guides recently did a recon to the Lower Klamath to checkout the steelhead run. To their pleasant surprise the lower river showed a very strong steelhead presence with numerous pods of them moving through.
Tumblr media
We experienced some double-digit days with a mix of half-pounders and adults. I don’t want to get too cocky but hang on to your knickers, this may be one of those good years after a couple of mediocre ones. Upon the Rogue we have been experiencing some very good days too, there are steelhead spread throughout the system. Most of our efforts have been from TouVelle Park up river where there seems to be good number of summer and fall run fish

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report
John Rickard reports on 5.10.18
Klamath River / Below Iron Gate.
The Iron Gate float is providing some good fishing under the Jaydecator. Fish are being caught all day, the best is between 9 and 12 and again from 4 to dark. There are a few places to enjoy a walk n wade but, by far your best success will come from a drift boat. Big rubber legs and birds nest have been the ticket.
Tumblr media
We are days away from the Salmonfly and Golden Stonefly hatch. For the rest of May and most of June we will be casting big dry-flies out of the drift boats. If you haven't done this yet get on our calendar. Fishing the big bug has a funny way of making you feel like a kid again.

Klamath River Fly Fishing Report
We were up on the Klamath River this past weekend and there are a lot of fish stacked up by the dam. Can’t wait for those to go dams to go away! They are keyed in on eggs pretty heavily there should be some good pushes of fish coming in the with these rains. We will be up there next week trying to find some bright fish.
