Choosing a faith jewelry that definitely speaks about my Catholic faith is something that makes my heart flutter and puts me in a state of solitude.

I am in particular with this necklace for my everyday wear with a heart-shaped pendant locker. The pendant locker is interchangeable so that it could carry two or more pendants at the same time. I built my personal faith necklace with a cross pendant that I bought from my friend in Dubai, UAE and the Sacred Heart pendant that I bought in an online shop here in the Philippines.

Whenever I see a cross, it leads me into a silent prayer and it reminds me of how great the love of our Saviour Jesus Christ is.

Likewise, I am a devotee of the Sacred Heart of Jesus aside from being a Marian devotee. Every Friday novena is dedicated for the Sacred Heart and I could not help but to thank all the sacramentals that aid me to strengthen my faith and love to the Lord.

I truly believe that if you love the Lord, you must also love genuinely our dear brothers and sisters.

A Heart Close to God

A heart that is close to God is one that resists the ceaseless deeds of evil. No matter the temptations that aim to destroy the relationship with God, a good heart knows God’s ways and does not waver. In this age, however, people act on personal desires more than on God’s will. And the consequence? Entropy. Decadence brings great pleasure to humans that it becomes difficult to compromise our growing desires with the path of the righteous. Well, it only becomes difficult if you lack time for faith training. Fortunately, it is never too late to go back on the path God has designed for you. Yet, the challenges that lie ahead may require you to surrender your greatest desire that does not parallel with God’s. For a heart to become close to God, you have to submit to His ways. This means untethering yourself to the desires that have restricted your spiritual growth. You may not realize it, but earthly desires narrow your perspective and therefore impede growth. The shallow, selfish wants corrupt the soul and if tolerated, you obliviously cultivate evil in you. But what good is pleasure if it destroys you in the end? The pleasure in following the direction of God is much greater than any earthly pleasures. The pleasures of the divine are eternally gratifying. Unlike earthly pleasures, they echo throughout your whole existence and throughout the life after this. Our wants here on earth are merely fleeting and so is the satisfaction they bring. A heart close to God recognizes these human thirsts and yet resists without falter. We have to train our hearts to do just the same. Let us rejoice in the walk toward divinity and practice restraint from indulgence in the plans of evil until it becomes a hobby.   Have you read my article about Delighting in God's Ways? What’s your gift for God?

“Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.” 1 Samuel 12:24

The very thing God seeks from us is to fear Him in reverence and to faithfully give our whole heart. When our good Lord is supplying and doing all great things for us, He only requires our faithfulness. 

But faithfulness cannot be established quickly. Just like trying to focus on one thing for the whole time, people are easily distracted. For Saul, he was just starting to fix his focus and for some reason he failed the test. This has got me questioning, did the Lord not given Saul a chance to prove himself as the anointed king over Israel? Yet one thing is being spoken to me today by the Holy Spirit. God sees the heart. He knows what is in Saul’s heart. He can measure its authenticity. And the very thing in Saul’s heart is not hidden from the Lord.

I feel like although God knows everything about Saul, at the back of His mind He was crossing His fingers waiting for Saul to prove Him wrong and to show God that he deserves the spot -- that he can change. But no. He failed. Hence, God went on to David -- a man after His own heart. 

God sees my heart and He can measure the genuineness of the faith in it. Knowing this, I will challenge myself daily to prove to my good Lord that I am still faithful, willing to serve Him with all my heart in fear and in reverence. The very thing I can offer my God is my heart, therefore I must present it to Him as He would want it.
