i. CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE.

THE ELEMENTAL GODDESSES THAT BIRTHED KOVA’S UNIVERSE     speak a language that very few within her canon are able to understand.   her universe’s official name is the nekkū,   but has been dubbed by mortals as the    nexus,  and is often referred to as such even by the goddesses themselves.  it is split into four dimensions,   each governed by a separate goddess   (   GAIA  -   goddess of earth,  ANALIHA  -  goddess of water,  FALNERY  - goddess of fire,   &   VRESKA  -  goddess of air   ).   when the nexus was originally created,   it was decided that the four goddesses had beliefs with how the nexus should be run that did not coincide,   so they came to the conclusion that they would   split up the nexus,  and run each portion as they pleased.     analiha’s nexus    was home to the water,   blessed with gorgeous rivers,   and only the most peaceful of lifeforms gathered at her spring of eternal youth to drink.  falnery’s nexus  was devoid of life that could not stand the heat of her passion.  it burned brightly  &  beautifully,   a sight unrivaled.   vreska’s nexus   was strong, held together by the clouds   &   vreska’s hearty breath.  the lifeforms there were caring,  wise,   and anything but wasteful.   however,   gaia’s nexus  was a direct reflection of the youngest sister’s chaotic personality.   it was in disarray,   the beasts that lived within it seeking nothing but the annihilation of any life that was not their own.

GAIA REACHED OUT TO HER SISTERS FOR HELP,     begging them to right the wrongs that were being committed against her land.    she asked analiha to drown them,  to flood her nexus so that the remnants of their misdoings were washed away and she could start anew.   analiha denied her,   stating that doing so would be to change the course of fate.    she asked falnery,  the oldest sister,   &   a goddess of great power   &   anger,   to burn them alive.   to destroy all that gaia had created.   falnery denied her as well on the basis that once a fire starts,   it cannot be controlled,  and she could not guarantee that there would be anything left to salvage once the deed was done.    gaia begged for vreska,  her last hope,   to strip them of the air that they needed to breathe    so that they may suffocate as consequence   &   feed the land.   vreska,   too,   denied her sister.   all living beings needed air,  and if she were to take that away,   the nexus would die.  

DISTRAUGHT,  GAIA WATCHED HER UNIVERSE    fall apart.   the anger   &   betrayal she felt towards her sister growing with each passing moment.   finally,   in a stroke of genius,   she came up with an idea.   out of the dirt,  she crafted one thousand men & one thousand women.  again,   she turned to her sisters for help,   and was not brushed aside like she was the times before.     of analiha, she requested a free-flowing spirit for her creations.  so that they may think for themselves   &    have free-will.    of falnery, she requested a passion that could rival her own,    so that the fire of that passion will burn inside their hearts for their entire lives.   of vreska, she requested the gift of life.  she wanted her beings to breathe,  to be alive.  with these,   she created the ultimate warrior,   capable of wielding the power of the goddesses on a lesser scale,   and over time they developed technology,   created cities  &  laws.   they began to govern themselves,   &   worshipped her as a god.   with this,   gaia’s nexus became a thriving home to humanity.
