Deborah J. Mack
Tumblr media
Deborah J. Mack, 58, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Edwardsville, PA, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 17, 2024, at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Debbie was born on May 10, 1965, to Dolores Kwasny Shone and the late Thomas Shone. She grew up in Shavertown, graduated from Dallas High School, Class of 1983, and pursued her passion for hairstyling by graduating from Empire Beauty School. She established her own salon, Abracadeborah, where she proudly served her clients for 10 years. Alongside her hairstyling career, she worked at Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists in Wilkes Barre for several years, demonstrating her dedication to both her craft and her community. Debbie's greatest accomplishment undoubtedly lay in her three daughters. She was their biggest cheerleader, attending all their sporting events and instilling in them a sense of pride and determination. She cherished the women they became and made it a priority to visit them as often as possible. Her grandchildren were her treasures, and her only regret was not being able to meet her newest granddaughter.
She was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, often seen dressed in green from head to toe on Sundays. Her happiest moments were spent at the beach, particularly in Ocean City, Maryland. Ultimately, she and Gary settled in Delaware, where she could enjoy the sand between her toes with just a short car drive. Debbie had a profound love for animals, especially her dogs, Hank, and Maddie.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Mack; her devoted mother, Dolores Shone; her daughters, Samantha Mullins (Brent) of North Carolina, Brittany Somerville of North Carolina, and Kimberly Campbell (Weston) of Northumberland; her sisters, Sandi O'Donnell (Jack) of Wyoming, and Andrea Bonacci (Leonard) of Downingtown. Debbie was a cherished grandmother to Colton, Selena, Kaiya, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her new granddaughter due in June 2024.
Debbie was preceded by her father, Thomas Shone.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Forty Fort United Methodist Church, Wyoming and Yeager avenues, Forty Fort, with the Rev. Richard Bradshaw, officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the American Cancer Society AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Philadelphia, in memory of Deborah J. Mack. Your support will honor Debbie's memory and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others affected by Leukemia and Lymphoma.

Joan M. Roskos
Tumblr media
Joan Bray Roskos, the only daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Bray, passed away peacefully at age 79 on November 24, 2022 following a brave fight against Stiff Person Syndrome. She was a 1961 graduate of Kingston High School and a 1965 graduate of Bloomsburg University with a B.S. in elementary education and history. She taught in the Lake-Lehman School District for over twenty years in various positions, but primarily in kindergarten where her kindness and her love of children made her a beloved colleague and educator.
She was a faithful member of the Dorranceton United Methodist Church for many years where she taught Sunday School, organized children’s programs, served as Sunday School superintendent and worked at chicken and biscuit dinners. More recently, she was an active member of the Shavertown United Methodist Church and was involved in the women’s Bible study group, Vacation Bible School and co-chaired the Angel Tree mission. She taught her children and grandchildren to love the Lord through her words and her example.
She was devoted to her husband and family and infused their every endeavor with her cheerful support and positive attitude. She loved being outdoors and working alongside her husband in their prolific garden which kept her busy canning and freezing its produce as well as sharing it with others. In the spring, she could be found tending a roadside stand selling fresh asparagus. She enjoyed traveling but was as just as happy to be at home with her family and sometimes a stranger or two gathered at her table while she prepared them her signature soups. Those who were fortunate enough to meet her often remarked that they had never met a nicer person.
