Ford Explorer deliveries fall Ford has decided to stop selling the hybrid-powered 2024 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator, instead focusing on supplying the Police Interceptor Utility Hybrid. "To meet continued high demand for the Ford Police Interceptor Utility Hybrid and other Ford hybrid vehicles, the 2024 Explorer will be offered only with the fuel-efficient 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine," Green Car said. Ford spokesman Mike Levine reports. The power plant allows police to operate on-board equipment from a lithium-ion battery when the internal combustion engine is turned off. Ford touts the feature as a way to save police money by improving fuel economy and reducing powertrain downtime. Meanwhile, 2024 Lincoln Aviator buyers will now only get the twin-turbocharged V6 engine. Explorer deliveries fell 11.6% in the third quarter.

And delays the opening of a new battery plant Ford Motor Company's third-quarter earnings showed widening losses from electric vehicles, driven primarily by slowing demand and the electric vehicle price war initiated by Tesla earlier in the year. Ford managed to sell 20,962 electric vehicles in the third quarter, beating General Motors by a small margin, thanks in large part to increased production of the Mustang Mach-E: Mach-E sales rose 42.5% in the third quarter with 14,824 units sold, 5,872 of which implemented only in September. The automaker's electric vehicle deliveries increased 44%, driving Ford's Model E EV division's revenue up 26% year over year to $1.8 billion. [caption id="attachment_76688" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Ford[/caption] Ford loses $36,000 on every electric vehicle sold. That's where the good news for Ford's electric vehicle business ends. Despite the higher volume, EV losses continued to widen in the third quarter, with the company reporting an operating loss of $1.3 billion, up from $1.1 billion in the prior quarter and more than double the 2022 third quarter. That means Ford lost about $36,000 on every EV sold in the quarter, beating the estimated loss of $32,350 per EV in the second quarter. For the full year, the automaker expects its electric vehicle division to report an annual loss of $4.5 billion. Ford said the third-quarter loss was "driven by continued investments in next-generation electric vehicles and challenging market dynamics." Regarding the latter, the automaker noted that "many North American customers interested in purchasing electric vehicles are unwilling to pay more for them than for gasoline or hybrid vehicles." According to Ford, this puts pressure on the prices and profitability of electric vehicles. As a result, the company said it was cutting its planned investment in electric vehicles by about $12 billion. Ford is cutting production of the Mustang Mach-E and delaying the opening of one of its two battery plants.

Found the salon using Google Maps and Street View The YouTube channel Auto Retro published a video showing an abandoned car dealership discovered using the Google Maps service and the Street View function. Interestingly, the photographs were discovered about two years ago but were taken more than 10 years ago. Therefore, there was no guarantee that the cars would remain in this dealership until now. [caption id="attachment_71634" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Ford[/caption] The creator of the YouTube channel Auto Retro drove more than 1600 km from the UK to Germany and made sure that all the cars remained in their place. These are brand-new Ford vehicles produced around the mid-1980s. New Ford Sierra, Escort, Fiesta, and Orion from the 80s were found in an abandoned showroom in Germany According to available information, the original owner of the car dealership died, and until a few years ago, his widow regularly cleaned the cars and the dealership. She is now in a nursing home and cannot continue to care for the showroom. The widow left the cars for her grandchildren, but they could not be driven on public roads because the cars were not registered. The video features several Ford Sierras, including one base five-door hatchback, a red Sierra 1.6L, and a blue Sierra station wagon. Also visible are the Ford Fiesta S and Ford Escort 1.1. This is the Escort sedan, known at the time as the Orion. https://youtu.be/Pa5_5bRpgks

The Rouge plant produces the F-150 and F-150 Lightning The UAW has been on strike for more than a month, and Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford has called for an end to the strike because the union is harming "tens of thousands of Americans" and putting the American auto industry at risk. Bill Ford said that "a couple of decades ago, some executives wanted to close the Rouge" because "they thought it was just a rusting relic of another era." But he refused and turned the plant, which makes the F-150 and F-150 Lightning, into "a crown jewel of a company that still believes building in America matters." Plants like Rouge have “created countless well-paying industrial jobs and a thriving middle class,” the executive said. He added that "creating something in America is important now more than ever, especially in these uncertain times." Bill Ford believes the UAW is putting all of this in jeopardy, as he said, "I've seen countries lose their auto industry, and then pretty much every industry after that." He noted that the company is now at a crossroads due to the strike, and "choosing the right path is not only about the future of Ford and our ability to compete" but also "the future of the American auto industry." [caption id="attachment_70660" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Ford[/caption] The confrontation between Ford and the strikers has reached a new level Bill Ford added: “This should not be Ford versus the UAW. It should be Ford and the UAW versus Toyota Honda and Tesla and all the Chinese companies that want to enter our domestic market. Toyota, Honda, Tesla, and others like this strike because they know that the longer it goes on, the better for them. They will win and we will all lose." Bill Ford said that if they lose, America will lose as "many jobs will be lost" and factories will be closed. The executive went on to say that the company is “the strongest partner the UAW has ever known” and that they will “succeed or fail together.” He added that the strike “will have a serious impact on the American economy and devastate local communities. We can stop this now by coming together to end this bitter round of negotiations." In response, UAW President Sean Fein said, “Bill Ford knows exactly how to break this strike. Instead of threatening to shut down the Rouge, he should call Ford CEO Jim Farley and tell him to stop playing games and make a deal or we'll shut down the Rouge for him." That means the union is considering shutting down the Rouge and ending production of America's best-selling car. This would be a huge escalation that would cause significant damage. He added that “if Ford wants to be an all-American car company, they can pay all-American wages and benefits. Workers at Tesla, Toyota, Honda, and other companies are not the enemy, but members of the UAW of the future.”
