Bei der Besetzung dieser Platte ist mit „Joe Armon-Jones“ & „Daniel Casimir“ zwei, im Londoner-Jazz-Kosmos, weit gereiste Protagonisten am Werk. Zu Armon-Jones hatten wir ja schon einige Features. Bei Casimir reicht die Liste von „BlueLabBeats“ über „Makaya McCraven“ & „Nubya Garcia“ bis hin zu „Ashley Henry“. Alles Musiker die in diesem „HappyJazzyEastern“ Reigen schon Ihre Erwähnung fanden. Das Album ist etwas „sperriger“ nicht ganz so eingängig wie die anderen, schon erwähnten, aber das wächst. Ungemein. Mit jedem hören. Monothematisch. Hier soll es um Künstler des „Neo-Jazz“ gehen. Was ist „Neo Jazz“? Das ist Musik von meistens jungen Künstlern, die oftmals gerade von den Musikhochschulen kommen und sich in verschiedensten Gruppierungen zusammen gefunden haben. Oder aber etablierte Musiker, die sich wiederum in Kollaborationen zusammenfinden, die ungemein Sinn machen. Sehr klar bei der Szene in London, die sich sowohl im Kollektiv, als Band, aber auch als Solokünstler einen Namen gemacht haben. Hier ist die Bandbreite insgesamt relativ groß. Ich mag es, wenn Hybride gebildet werden. Neue Musik aus verschiedenen Richtungen, neu arrangiert und dann dem staunenden Publikum kredenzt. Mindestens LaBrassBanda, eine fantastische Braas Band vom Chiemsee, die mittlerweile über die bayerischen Landesgrenzen hinaus, zum einen bekannt aber auch zum anderen erfolgreich sind. Jetzt haben wir hier die Tuba im Jazz. Mit dem Tuba Spieler „Theon Cross“ wieder jemanden den man links und rechts finden kann. Hier mit seinem fantastischen, auch von der Musikpresse, hochgelobten Erstling. Kurz vor Weihnachten hatte ich noch die Gelegenheit, „Theon Cross“ als Teil der „Sons of Kemet“ erleben zu dürfen. Mit „Shabaka Hutchings“. Diesen Namen kann man sich auch merken… Es werden hier noch ein paar Platten mit ihm, im österlichen #HappyJazzyEastern Roundup, folgen. Btw: in der Feat. Liste treffen wir u.a. Nubya Garcia und Moses Boyd. Ein wenig Namedropping muss sein, da setzen sich die Künstler im Kopf besser fest.
