Elders in Madagali Boko Haram-recaptured local government area of Adamawa state have cried out over they described as the “high possibilities of hunger that will ravage the communities of the area as a result of the Boko Haram incessant attacks.” Appreciating the efforts of the federal and state governments, in recording significant successes in checking the activities of the evil men, they said, however, that “because of the area’s proximity to Sambisa forest, the attacks are being carried out on weekly basis.” The meeting was at the instance of chairman of the local council, Yusuf Mohammed, with the intention to consult widely in order find a lasting solution to incessant killings by Boko Haram members. A former Governor of Adamawa state Bala James Ngilari, Deputy Speaker of Adamawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Tsandu, Professor Abba Waziri,Deputy Provost Federal College of Education (FCE),Dr JB Malgwa,Mrs Mary Inusa and Justice Abdulaziz Waziri, were among many personalities that came together to find ways to stop the killings. Barrister Ahme Ali Guluk, in a chat with newsmen shortly after the meeting, said the insurgents had devastated their communities, despite the efforts being made by the President Muhammadu Buhari government, Madagali “is still at the receiving end of their attacks.” Yusuf appreciated Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow using the military and local hunters and vigilantes to drastically reduce the killings by the insurgents.
