I’ve been seeing people claim that Shen Jiu needed a lawyer at his trial but honestly SJ would be the worst client. He doesn’t ever explain himself, not even to Yue Qingyuan, and he refuses to make himself look better to appeal to others. He’s rude and snide, but clams up when confronted. Trying to get information out of him would be like pulling teeth, even if it was to save him. SJ has already decided the world thinks him guilty, he’s not going to debase himself by begging for an outcome that will never come. You ask him what happened with Liu Qingge and he’d be like ‘That stupid brute dug his own grave’ and refuse to elaborate. He’d make his lawyer cry is what I’m saying.

Got my latest piece from @yutaan ! I got one of my favorite characters, Yue Qingyuan! I love all the metallic details and her willingness to include my favorite flower, the Bleeding Heart. Yutaan even included a little doodle on the outside of the package! I’m so thrilled, especially with the expression. Thanks so much Yutaan!

I don’t remember if I ever talked about this here, but my introduction to SVSSS was via the Donghua, AND HIS FACE WAS ONE OF THE KEY THINGS THAT HOOKED ME INTO SVSSS.

My first impression of Yue Qingyuan might not be the most positive,,, (donghua YQY seemed like a Sid from Ice Age looking dolt to me 😭😭), BUT I WAS SO INTRIGUED BY HIM AND I’M SO GLAD I SAT THROUGH IT. I KNEW HE WAS INTERESTING,,, BUT I DIDN’T EXPECT HIS STORY TO CLOTHESLINE ME IN THE THROAT. 😭😭😭 (I absolutely adore him now)

I've seen people complain that he treats others like objects early on but they were just flat background characters to him until he transmigrated. And I think part of why he tries to hold onto this fiction for so long is because he doesn't want to breakdown. You wouldn't consider someone evil for killing an NPC in a video game, right? So him killing the Skinner is just removing a tutorial boss in his mind, even though on a deeper level SY is horrified. If there's one thing we can all agree SY excels at it's compartmentalizing.

I feel like enough people don't acknowledge that a big part of the reason that Shen Yuan acts the way he does about the people around him is because the System is essentially gamifying his interactions with them. He literally gets points and objectives from interacting with others via a user interface. There's a shop to get cheats!

The System presents itself like a video game but it also obscures information from SY and railroads him when he tries to break free from its script. All of the dialogue options the System gives him are like Glass Him. As far as SY can tell he's been trapped in a flat world as the only real human being and the System puts in work to keep it that way. The only thing the System cares about is having an interesting story and it doesn't care about either the people of PIDW or its transmigrators.

So I’ve got another post going around about Shen Jiu destroying his lawyer. I got a couple of suggestions on who would be up to the task, so I decided to make a poll to see who could defend him with a couple of additions of my own.

Forgot to post this piece I commissioned from @darkthare ! This is my SVSSS OC Chen Min, she’s designed to be an attempt by Airplane to dip his toe into the monster fucker market but he chickened out and made her more humanoid daughter became the 79th wife of LBG. She ends up becoming one of the most powerful Mother in Laws in PIDW. She eats people's negative emotions and makes them addicted to her motherly comfort so that she can eventually eat their chi and create a new daughter to do her bidding. I've got a lot of lore about her if anyone has any questions. I'm so happy with her design.

So I keep thinking about Shen Yuan and Shen Jiu and I’d really like to hear what the general fandoms favorite dynamic is between them. This isn’t a poll to prove the ‘superior’ dynamic so no hate to any of the types listed here.

You know it! If I could write I would do so much to try and pump up their numbers. I just think there's so many delicious avenues to go down with them and I feel like individually they just don't get enough love. I always feel like there's a portion of the fandom that is out to paint Yue Qingyuan in the worst light and I feel like to many people take Tianlang Jun's blase act at face value. They are both such cool and intriguing characters and I just love putting them in situations. I'm gonna have to make a more serious manifesto sometime, I just love these two so much!

So I was inspired by @sinn-bee and their dragon AU to recreate their Shen Yuan and Liu Qingge's dragon forms. I'm totally in love with this AU and I thought it would be fun to compare how I designed based on their art vs what I did for the canon character's in SVSSS.

On the left is the design I did off their design and the right is based on the canon one. I went with a Veilspun for Sinn's design because the horn shape is probably the most similar to the one's on SY, plus the hair on them is such a big aspect of them. It's a little funny that I made him a Veilspun because in Flight Rising canon Veilspun are the smallest dragon's, about the size of a cat, whilst Sinn!SY is a big boy. I made a point to make him Mint because SY's color change is the biggest indicator in their AU that Shen Jiu was replaced. I thought filigree would be a good touch to reference the bracers that are a focal point on SY's clothing.

Canon SY I focused mostly on elegance and a wind theme, so I went with a Skydancer. The outfit was the most complicated thing, mostly because there aren't any specifically Chinese hanfu in the game. I had to do a lot of layering.

Once again, Sinn's design is on the left and the one based on canon is on the right. Liu Qingge was easy to decide on a breed because of his antler shaped horns! I had to go with an Imperial, which are based on both Asian mythology and the largest breed in the game with my largest one the length of an eleven story building. I wanted to focus on making Sinn!LQG as delicate and beautiful looking as possible. I thought the silver Opal really gave him a cool natural look. I think he and Sinn!SY would look beautiful together.

My canon version was focused mostly on his meat head fighter side, but I couldn't resist giving him a cute skin designed by FR user larkhund. I love the gap moe of it. I'm not completely happy with the outfit, but I think it works.

Eh, a lot of people see it as a ship with no canon backing. Combine that with what I feel are a greater number of people who focus more on 3zun relationships here vs Twitter and some obnoxious XiCheng fans and you get some bad blood. I like XiCheng a lot, I feel like there’s a lot of potential post canon, but some people just don’t like it.

Since I’ve been in this fandom I’ve seen a lot of head canon’s for what exactly happened to Shen Jiu’s soul after the beginning of the book. So I want to run a poll! Of the theories below what’s your favorite head canon for what happened to Shen Jiu’s soul?

Here's the results of the poll I did a little bit ago! A lot of people said they're okay with multiple interpretations depending on their mood, but mostly they just needed the Shen's to be weird about each other which is understandable. In a landslide at 41.4% most of the fandom prefers Shen Jiu and Shen Yuan to be brothers first. One person mentioned that they like them as twin's specifically! Second place at 18.9% is frienemies, another fun dynamic with some interesting interplay. In third place, we have lovers with 8.5% of the vote. Interestingly, most people said they were torn between brothers and lovers as their favorite. Closely behind that we have parent and child at 8.3%. People who picked that one generally specified which Shen they prefer in which role. Most of the choices after that didn't get much play, but I found it interesting that best friends got the least amount of votes at 0.9% below even the show results option. According to my math that means at most 4 people picked that option out of 423 voters! This was a fun experiment, I loved hearing everyone's thoughts on the two.
