The Castle was built in the 14th and 15th centuries on one of many islands of Lake Galvė. Trakai Island Castle is an island castle located in Trakai, Lithuania, on an island in Lake Galvė. It is an incredible architectural example of Gothic style. The history of the castle dates back to mid 14th century, when work was begun by the Grand Duke Kęstutis, and was concluded in the early 15th century by his son Vytautas.
