Granson Ketchthane's nondescript greatsword was bought for a song from a Derelicts scavenger in Eulmore. Afterwards, his fiancé Milinda made use of her skills as a goldsmith to fashion a new hilt.

I love the Pendants scene in the end of Patch 5.2, Echoes of a Fallen Star. We no longer have our ghost, but here we get a visit from our Role Quest partners--the source of Granson's appearance in the patch trailer, given Meteor's canon job is DRK this expac.
I've collected together the various role companions' dialogues here, as all are replayable in Cutscene #2 of the "Echoes of a Fallen Star" quest in the Unending Journey. The WoD gets a chance to say something to most of them, but the dialogue selection doesn't affect their responses at all.
I love this scene; the various facial expressions are great, the pouring water into a cup was perfect, and the companions interact with the room in different ways. Granson stands so quickly his seat wobbles visibly and audibly in correct sync. Reeq eats an apple that ends up rolling across the table. You and Taynor talk by the stove, one of the seats moved there for the boy. Giott...Drinks. That shouldn't be a surprise and is definitely not a spoiler. Dwarves, man...
The conversations don't spoil the main Role Quest stories themselves, so I feel safe sharing the dialogue. There IS a major spoiler in appearance change for one of them, so no images. Cyella is the NPC for the capstone quest once the other 4 are complete, and already knows more of the Warriors of Light than the other companions.
At the very end, I also added the changes to walk-up dialogue for each of them, at their usual locations in the Crystarium or Kholusia once 5.2 MSQ is complete. That dialogue changes again in the next patch, with more changes after that if completing the Void Quests.
So go below the cut for the dialogues!
GRANSON Granson: Well met, sinner. Granson: I was looking forward to a welcome respite here in the Crystarium, but the mood here's not exactly conducive to relaxation, as I'm sure you've noticed. Granson: Aye, I'd wager you know more about what's going on than anyone else in this city. Care to share? ((WoD explains the situation)) Granson: Hmmm... I can't say that I envy you your prey. Granson: Dark work, this twisting of the Warriors of Light's legacy. Reminds me of what became of ol' Dikaiosyne─though this “Ascian” of yours is a fair bit more chatty. Granson: I'm tempted to silence him myself. Branden made his mistakes─I'm sure they all did─but the past is the past. They've earned their rest.
WoD’s Options: I’m not about to let him sully Ardbert’s good name. I’ll see that they have their peace.
Granson: What, you want me to leave it to you? Granson: ...Right, right. I'm not the only one carrying all that weight. Very well. But only because you asked. Granson: Remember: if you ever need me, just say the word. I'll be there.
GIOTT Giott: Lali-ho, stranger! Giott: So there I am─minding my own business, quaffing my ale─when I hear a ruckus outside. And then, clear as day: “Warrior of Light”! Giott: That sounded like trouble to me, and I knew that if anyone was going to trouble herself over that trouble, it'd be you. So I gave Glynard the ol' “But I'm your best customer!” routine until he agreed to bring me here, and now I know where you live! Great, ain't it? ((WoD explains the situation)) Giott: Some bastard's walking around wearing Ardbert─Lamitt's Ardbert─like a secondhand jerkin!? Giott: I don't know what's more offensive─that, or that you let him leave without a proper dwarven decking!
WoD’s Options: He did vanish into thin air. A certain hobson refused to teach me...
Giott: Bah! In a pinch, an improvised decking would've been fine! Giott: Tell you what. I'll show you how to knock that bastard flat in the blink of an eye here and now. Taboos be damned. Giott: After all, we ain't about to let him keep on like that, are we? Pretending to be Ardbert. Lamitt's Ardbert. Giott: Step one: make a fist. Step two: extend your arm, like so. Step three: beat 'em senseless. Got it? Giott: Good. Now make me proud!
================================================ As much as I love all of these NPCs, Giott is my favorite. That foulmouthed dwarf is a trip and and a half. ================================================
LUE-REEQ Lue-Reeq: What charming accommodations! Lue-Reeq: I had come to dine at the Wandering Stairs, you see, when I spied a considerable gathering of locals. Then the sky caught fire, and, well... Lue-Reeq: You must know what it all means. Anything you'd care to share with a friend? ((WoD explains the situation)) Lue-Reeq: That is...alarming, to say the least. Lue-Reeq: It's all well and good that others have come to appreciate the Warriors of Light, but we cannot allow this charlatan to exploit their legacy. So... Lue-Reeq: Yes! Why not? We shall reform the indomitable duo that is Reeq and Aeryn, and put an end to his shenanigans!
WoD’s Options: That’s very kind of you. Eager as ever, I see.
Lue-Reeq: Yes, I know. No need to say it. You've no intention of involving me. I'm stupid, but I'm not naive. Lue-Reeq: You're the better hunter, and the better person besides. I'm reminded of Renda-Rae...though that's hardly a surprise, is it? Lue-Reeq: For her sake─for all of theirs─show this pretender what it truly means to be a hero!
================================================== I’m going to point out Reeq’s response because OMG that line:
Tumblr media
Some days that really feels like something the WoD ought to be saying... ====================================================
TAYNOR Taynor: Pray forgive my late visit... I heard the man who called himself a Warrior of Light speak, you see, and saw the stars falling from the heavens. Taynor: Cerigg grew tired of my endless fretting and bade me call upon you if it would put my mind at ease. Is there aught you can tell me? ((WoD explains the situation)) Taynor: An impostor. I feared you might say that. Taynor: I believed him─I wanted to believe him. How wonderful it was that even one of them returned, I thought... Taynor: Yet if he is not the man you knew, then...I'm sorry. I know all too well how that feels. Taynor: I can only imagine how it must hurt to be unable to speak the truth─how you must abide the lie for fear of condemning those fallen heroes once more. Taynor: It may not be my place, but allow me to offer you a few words of advice. As you once did me. Taynor: Remember how dear he was to you, and be brave.
WoD’s Options: Thank you, my friend. You’ve certainly grown.
Taynor: O-Oh! I'm not half so eloquent as you, but I hope that it helps!
===================================================== Cyella's scene is a bit different from everyone else's. For the other Hunters, Glynard is at the door and steps aside to show whoever you select, then the scene cuts to them in the room with the WoD. They have their conversation, the Hunter leaves, the WoD opens the window shutters and looks out into the night. In Cyella's, Glynard is apparently startled by her appearance next to him. She bows to Glynard as he speaks briefly to her, waits for him to leave before greeting the WoD, then walks past into the room, leaving the WoD to close the door as Cyella opens the window. There is no dialogue option for Cyella; the WoD explains to her as they have all the others, and then silently agrees with her request. Once she lets herself out, the WoD still goes to the open window to look into the night. Also Cyella's various facial expressions break my heart in ways the others didn't. ======================================================
CYELLA Cyella: Good evening. Cyella: I was in the Exedra. I saw everything. Cyella: That was Ardbert...and it was not. Twice now he has appeared, calling the people to arms. Speaking of “heroes.” ((WoD explains the situation)) Cyella: I knew this day might come. Ardbert never did reappear as a Virtue. Cyella: But to see his flesh stolen by the selfsame Ascian that made mock of their sacrifice... Cyella: I spent years searching for a means to redeem their legacy. His legacy. And in you, I found it. You slew the Virtues, reclaimed the stars... Cyella: You spoke the truth, and the people listened. When I heard our patrons speak of how the Warriors of Light had been their saviors all along, I thought at last, at long last... Cyella: I was a fool. Cyella: I cannot ask more of you, not after what you've given. But I must. Cyella: Set him free. Lay him to rest with the others, in honor and triumph.
========================================================
At this point, the default idle dialogue for these RQ NPCs changed (Cerigg and Olvara had their same lines as before). Glynard, Giott, Cyella, and Taynor can still be found at the Wandering Stairs. Reeq and Granson were still in Kholusia. This changes in 5.3, and more changes occur if completing the Void Quests (requires certain Heavensward content completion).
Glynard: Apologies again for bringing a guest to your quarters so late. Glynard: ...Though I probably don't have to tell you that saying “no” wasn't an option. You're a stubborn lot─hunters who face down the Virtues, that is. Glynard: It's a needful quality, especially at times like this. You're lucky to have friends that share in it. Giott: <gulp> <gulp> <gulp> Godsdamn it! How am I to enjoy my drink with all that...<burp>...hooting and howling!!! Taynor: Is it true? Has the Warrior of Light returned? I cannot fathom the how or the why of it, but should he prove to be false, know that I am here to help if you need it. Cyella: Welcome to the Wandering─ Oh, Aeryn... Have you given any thought to Ardbert's resurrection? Cyella: Part of me wishes to believe it is him, that fate has seen fit to return him to the living. But you and I both know it could never be so simple. ((Choosing her “How fare you of late?” dialogue option)) Cyella: Still tending the bar, cleaning up after drunkards and Glynard. If this is the punishment you had in mind, I struggle to fathom a harsher fate! Cyella: In all seriousness, I have been making an effort to use my spare moments to entertain patrons with stories of the Warriors of Light, but it seems a certain someone has stolen a good deal of my thunder. Cyella: Judging by the ramblings of our patrons─drunken though they may be─the people have been taking your words to heart. That said, Ardbert's miraculous return to the land of the living still concerns me. I'd be careful around him if I were you. He seems changed somehow...and I cannot say if it's for the better. Granson: Word has it you may be leaving soon. And not just the Crystarium, but Norvrandt altogether. Well, wherever it is you're heading, I'm sure we'll cross paths again someday. Until the next hunt. Lue-Reeq: Looking for the Warrior of Light, are you? Last I heard he was making for Eulmore. If you need help tracking him down, just say the word, eh?
((Cyella’s other dialogues, the stories of the Shadowkeeper and the Warriors of Light, remain the same as before.))

28 year old Granson Ketchthane was once a game hunter. However, after his fiancé Melinda was killed by a sin eater, he took up the sword. Nowadays, he reflects on the days spent with her-- especially the soup she used to make him.

Conversation
To Have Loved and Lost
Granson: I can't live off hate. Shouldn't've made it this far, frankly. And the more I try to reach for it, the more I find...sorrow? Pity?
Sul Oul: Curse not fate, but mourn her victims. Remember the dead as they lived.
Granson: Aye, something like that.

“*Stays up way too late doing the Tank Role Quests* *Rolls on floor as...”
Granson is an absolute gift and a blessing.
He’s great! I still have a bit more of a crush on Cerigg, but Granson gets some amazing growth thanks to his meeting Sul Oul and learning about Branden. I hope we see Granson again; I like the final images we get of him, but I also like being able to visit with the role quest NPCs who have finished their quests (Lue-Reeq hangs out in Kholusia, Cerigg returns to the Wandering Stairs).
Also, the quest certainly explains a lot about Branden’s persona he put on while in the Source. Cuz they all seemed to be playing roles, really; they weren’t good at being bad guys.
Dark is going to level RDM next so I can swoon over Cerigg again, and Aeryn will level DRK after BRD. Eventually I will level their healer jobs.

Granson is over a little bit aways from Weight, at the base of a huge rock! (The sight might be a bit familiar~)
Good to know! I did these late enough last night I didn’t really have a chance to go looking, just saw him leaving the Crystarium as the quest ended.
