honestly, that questline in suramar where you try to return a refugee to the city so that she won’t wither… I think that was very serious for lysirae. she made the wrong call trusting that nightborne that was supposed to help smuggle her and as a result, cost the life of her charge. I know she’ll always feel guilty for it.

Lysirae & Magic pt.2

lysirae has been studying magic since she was an elfling. she grew up in the last sliver of higborne society -- the exiled ones in eldre’thalas-- so magic studies were just as ordinary as learning to read or write , basic education if you will. admittedly because they were closed off and isolated , their ways of practice were quite... outdated by the time the shen’dralar were forced to escape genocide ( approximately this happens around the time she is eighteen in human years ) and until then she had considered herself well versed.

this now leaves the new information she was exposed to after her people rejoined the kaldorei masses, and she was made fun of for enchanting brooms ect. instead of doing the labor herself. feeling shame for her own practice didn’t exactly place a wrench into her learning and more so ignited more of a thirst to show the others that arcane practices would come to be of use to the empire sometime in the future, leading her to her departure to dalaran with the hope to learn of the more modern and practical ways.  

simply put, there was a period where she did very, very, little else apart from reading and apprenticing. even now, as she is still quite young in terms of night elf, lysirae continues to treat herself as a student regardless that her aptitude for magic proves remarkable in it’s raw form. after all, you can learn something new every day if you are willing.

lysirae is probably the most affectionate person you’ll ever meet. she is very expressive with her appreciation and love for others and often sees little reason to be opaque with her feelings. she adores physical touch and embraces from those she considers close, and gives these things freely when she is happy to see her loved ones, or if they appear to need her comfort.

      Lysirae is a little self conscious of the scarring she acquired after she started venturing. It was kind of a startling realization for her from going to completely flawless to suddenly sporting sword slashes, magical burns or claw marks in places she’d thought she’d never see them. The worst of her scarring is on her left calf where the flames from Teldrassil burned her.

Lysirae grew up around magic and has had it in every aspect of her life

She was born an impressive amount of years apart from her eldest brother; Imir. This is due to the fact that Imir did NOT turn away from Queen Azshara as Castildiir and Elailanna did and the grief of losing their son prolonged the attempt of another child for YEARS.

Lys was raised by REMORSEFUL highbornes that taught her how to play the game of nobility but also attempted to teach her to stay clear of the mistakes they made. These teachings went into one ear and then the other until their demise, she was then looked after by her tutor, Zenara Nightfire

She struggled with the change of lifestyle and the mistrust of others after arriving in Darnassus, and though debated plenty with others around her on magic and its benefits, chose to see adapting as another test to pass with flying colours.

Lysirae is not afraid of dirt, but she doesn’t like to be in it either if it’s avoidable. That is why I’d headcanoned that she actually lived in the only house in Wellspring Hovel.

She will never call herself a HIGHBORNE in the company of other Kaldorei, but she will choose to represent her faction of the surviving Shen’dralar AND the city of Darnassus when reporting for duty.

She actually liked that place damn it, it was beautiful and now it’s on fire.

No, but listen to me. As Conjuror Lysirae went after all three artifacts. She chose to wield Aluneth herself, gave Aethas wield over the Felo'melorn, and Modera wield over the Ebonchill if any of them were to accompany her out on the field. This would usually be when she personally had the most use of Aluneth and required some extra support.

It makes the most sense that she would have shared the artifacts with these particular allies and they often changed hands quite frequently. She never loaned out Aluneth though. His voice was a burden at first, she'd like no one else to endure his constant temptations.

1) What does your muse smell like?  Bathing means seductive scents like vetiver , refined civet and on days she wishes to play the sweet and innocent ray of sunshine; fresh ingredients like strawberry or vanilla is just as mesmerizing. Floral perfumes are usually her go to as long as they are on the sweeter, more syrupy / juicy side.

2) How often does your muse bathe/shower?  Every  day,  is the preferred. The problem is, sometimes her work has her in places where it simply isn’t possible to, mostly due to the off chance she leaves herself vulnerable while enemies are lurking about it. If the situation is relatively safe, she is NOT opposed to bathing in an open body of water or font.

3) Does your muse have any tattoos or piercings? Yes, Lysirae has both ears pierced all the way up, a nose ring and a gemstone at her navel. There are others that are not visually open to the public.

4) Any body movement quirks (e.g. tapping heel, shaking knee)? Lys has a tendency to tilt her head a bit to the side when regarding something or someone that interests her. She bites her lip and toys with the hem of her clothing in idle.

5) What do they sleep in?  Preferably, in a large bed complete with sheer canopy, soft silk sheets and well plumped pillows and a shortly hemmed night gown if not choosing to go completely bare . More often than not however, she is stuck outdoors in tents, or sleeping against the moss beneath trees, resting in her armor with her staff clutched to her chest.

6) What’s their favourite piece of clothing?  Honestly, she would prefer not to wear anything at all most of the time, but if she had to make a choice; leggings made of mageweave. It offers great mobility while remaining sleek and stylish. It also allows her to have her thighs exposed.

7) What do they do when they wake up?  Lysirae tends to stay in bed a little longer when she can! She is often extremely tired from whatever missions she’s been conducting from the night before and takes the moment to meditate on the things she has lined up that day. After that, it is time to get cleaned up, dressed and start breakfast.

8) How do they sleep? Position?  Lysirae likes to lie on her stomach and cuddle into her pillows with her cheek, both arms crossed beneath them and her blankets slightly hiked up above her legs from the bottom side, and the top settling at her waist.

9) What do their hands feel like?  She’s worn gloves when handling anything that could give her callouses leaving them still in good condition, smooth and soft. Thus when they are removed, her touch is gentle, the tips of her fingers sometimes slightly chilled if previously been handling frost, warm if previously handling fire, or sparking after bending the arcane.

What powers their magic? Mana, Willpower, Gnosis, Chi, Blood, Quintessence, prayer, an artifact?

OUT OF CHARACTER  |  so short answer? mana. now for the long answer !

while a mage’s power is dependent on mana consumption, let's take a look at what mana actually is in warcraft lore shall we ? the truth is, no one really knows where exactly it comes from ( for Blizz doesn’t get into specifics when it comes to that, at least not from where i’ve seen ).  it is described as a form of arcane mystic energy that travels through the leylines of azeroth ( pretty much the “veins” of the planet ), once highly concentrated can actually pressurize into crystal form, can be broken down into dust-like residue, and can even be mixed into edible foods. it has also been outlined albeit in non-canon material, that the most ideal spellcasters contain a more than decent storage within themselves [ 1 ] .

night elf moonwells powered by mother moon ( the goddess elune ) are also brimming with mana and casters can splash around in them and regenerate their stores, and be heald. being powered by elune, one could argue that she’s a source, or at least one of the sources for this mysterious energy. not all mages channel mana from the energy around them, some do, some don’t but in reference to lysirae, i believe she draws it from within herself. seeing as your mana capacity can increase with training and the use of upgraded armors, runes ect, the last resort when you don’t have the ability to pop a mage table in the middle of a fight, is drawing it from the outside of one's self which, in my eyes, makes for much rawer and unstable energy.

this would be easily show by the evocation ability [ 2 ]. have i mentioned you could also become a mana addict ? yeah. there was a time where she was epically imbued by aluneth, a magical artifact with a magic eating being imprisoned within it. i won't get too much into that because it’s a long story, but to summarize, the living entity literally ATE mana in streams whenever it was close and I'm talking mana powered firelights, large crystals, while you’re running around and trying to mind your own business. anyways you can read more about that over here if you want [ 3 ].
