The Most Effective Method to Load Ink Cartridge In HP Printer
Before attempting to replace your ink cartridge, please ensure it is low in ink because removing it otherwise may lead to poor print quality problems in the future. This HP printer support article should, however, act as a wholesome guide towards knowing how to load an ink cartridge in a HP printer without requiring an expert coming in. Note that this guide only covers use on PCs running Windows XP later.
Step one: Replacing the old ink cartridge
Ensure the printer is turned on and there is nothing running on it.
Open the top cover of the printer underneath which the cartridges are located.
If the printer was just booting up, wait until the carriage that contains the     cartridge moves to the right side of the printer and the printer itself is     idle and quiet. Attempting to remove it earlier may damage the printer and the cartridge.
Press down on the old ink cartridge inside the printer and gently slide it out of its carriage.
Note: Depending on whether you’re replacing a tri-colour or the black ink cartridge, you should take different approaches.
The tri-colour ink cartridge is located on the left hand slot.
The black ink cartridge is normally located on the right hand side.
5. Remove the new ink cartridge from its original packaging and pull off the pink tab from the back. This is just a protective tape that prevents damage to sensitive parts of the cartridge.
Note: Ensure you hold the ink cartridge by its sides, so you don’t touch the bottom (the part protected by the tape) at all.
At the bottom are the ink nozzles and copper contacts. Touching these parts could result in clogs, ink failure and displacement of electrical connections within the cartridge.
At the back of the cartridge is a rough area that mostly consists of copper strips. Do not remove them. These are electrical contacts required for proper functionality.
6. Hold the ink cartridge in such a way that the copper strips are facing the printer and the ink nozzles are at the bottom.
7. Gently slide the cartridge into its carriage at a slight upward angle. The ink cartridge should safely snap into place.
Note: Don’t forget to replace the ink cartridges according to their previous respective relative positions.
The tri-color ink cartridge should be installed on the left hand side of the carriage.
The black ink cartridge should be installed on the right hand side side of the carriage.
Inserting them incorrectly will lead to printing problems later on. If in doubt, you could always call the HP printer support number.
Step two: Aligning the new ink cartridge
Before you proceed, ensure you have a Letter, A4 or plain white paper loaded into the printer’s input tray. This step serves to ensure the ink cartridges are properly aligned in order to maintain the best quality possible during printing.
Depending on the Windows version you are running, open the HP Solution Center using either one of the following methods:
Windows XP: On the Windows taskbar, click on Start, click All Programs, point to HP, and then click on HP Solution Center.
Windows Vista: On the taskbar, click on the Windows icon, click on All programs, point to HP, then click on HP Solution Center.
Alternatively, on Windows Vista and later, click on the Windows icon on the taskbar, and when the start menu pops up, type HP Solution Center’ and click on the first option that shows up.
2. Inside the HP Solution Center window, find the Settings button and click on it, then click on Printer’s Toolbox. A new dialog (The Printer’s Toolbox) should open.
3. You should be presented with a few choices at this point. Click on Align the Print Cartridges.
4. Click Align then follow the on-screen instructions that will show up.
If followed this HP printer support article accordingly, the printer should print out a test page and calibrate the Printer.
If the Printer doesn’t produce quality printouts as expected, try running the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose the problem. You could also alternatively run the Windows Diagnostics Tool to check for missing drivers, hardware malfunctions, etc. Most problems, however, result from improper insertion of the cartridge into the carriage. Double check to ensure it installed properly and into the right slot.
If problems persist, call the HP Printer Support Number for further assistance.
