As many as 70 companies of paramilitary forces - each comprising 100 soldiers - have been deployed in Northeast Delhi to control the situation after the violence in which 38 people have died, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said in a statement released late on Thursday night.The MHA, which supervises and controls the Delhi Police, also said that as many as 514 “suspects” have been detained for questioning and the number will increase as the investigation proceeds.The statement also said that Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the situation in a meeting on Thursday evening which was attended by Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik, but made no mention about National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.Doval had visited the riot-hit areas twice in the last 48 hours and interacted with the people to take stock of the situation.The home ministry statement further said that only 12 police stations out of the 203 in Delhi - about 4.2 per cent of the geographical area - have been affected by the violence. “No major incident has been reported in the last 36 hours in any of the affected police stations,” the statement further added.It also said that the Home Minister had made an appeal that the “citizens should not believe rumours and fall prey to evil designs of miscreants and groups interested in precipitating communal tensions”. Week over week, Ripple tokens (XRP) prices are down 12 percent but surprisingly up two percent in the last 24 hours. In any case-unless of course we see rejection of XRP lower lows, these attempts of XRP higher highs are but technical short coverings. Check out those dismissive level of market participation which advice this skew. Anyhow, sellers seem to be in charge and bear manifestation would be there should we see breaks below 50 cents.

It’s no doubt that we are witnessing a technological revolution. To say there would widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies as Ripple in the short term is but an understatement. One thing is clear, since mid-May until now, XRP has been in consolidation whose floor is at 40 cents with resistance around 75 cents or so. While we are positive of possible recovery despite these strong sellers, it will be subject to what happens in the next few days or weeks. In my view and this should be straight forward, what we need to see is strong moves above 75 cents.

Conversely, for sellers, we should see a strong break below 50 cents, a region of strong support clear in the last three quarters or so. Otherwise, if this horizontal consolidation continues like it has been the case, we should expect a strong break out in either direction. However, in light of how technical indicators have been set up despite relatively warm news, sellers might end up taking control.

The ranging price action is clear in this chart and in the last couple of weeks-actually the whole of May-sellers have been trying to reverse April gains. They have been largely successful since prices are down more than 70 percent from April highs of around $1. Now, here’s the deal, since prices are almost at the floor of this channel, I shall hold of suggesting shorts and instead what to see what happens today or the next days. If there is a recovery in line with June 11 bullish pin bar then we need to see appreciation past 70 cents before we take XRP long calls. Otherwise, any close below April lows of 50 cents would be a perfect signal for further sells.

At least two-thirds of people who pay taxes will be able to save money if they move to the new income tax scheme, a top government official has said, citing an analysis of filings in 2018-19 that showed only a small proportion of assessees as having fully utilised the exemption options that brought down their tax liability.

  The new scheme gives taxpayers a significantly lower rate than the old one, but does away with 70 of 120 deductions. The scheme, Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while announcing the budget on February 1, was meant to leave people with more money in their hands instead of forcing them to put it into savings.

  “I’m reasonably confident that about 80 per cent of the taxpayers would find NTR (new tax regime) beneficial and I have data analytics to support this estimation. We have analysed tax data base of financial year 2018-19 with almost all kinds of deductions and exemptions availed by the taxpayers and found that around 69 per cent of the taxpayers would be able to save up to Rs 78,000 by switching to the new regime,” revenue secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey said.

   According to the analysis, he added, only 0.6 per cent of the 57.8 million taxpayers whose filings were analysed claimed deductions and exemptions in excess of Rs 4 lakh, and the proportion claiming above Rs 2 lakh was 8.4 per cent.

  In the proposed new regime, an individual will be required to pay tax at a reduced rate of 10 per cent for income between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 7.5 lakh, against the current rate of 20 per cent. For income between Rs 7.5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, the new tax rate is 15 per cent (existing rate of 20 per cent). Similarly, it’s 20 per cent for those earning between Rs 10 lakh and Rs12.5 lakh (compared to 30 per cent currently) and 25 per cent for those earning between Rs 12.5 lakh and Rs 15 lakh (compared to 30 per cent at present). Incomes above Rs 15 lakh will continue to be taxed at the rate of 30 per cent.

   Pandey said more than 91 per cent of last year’s taxpayers claimed deductions amounting to less than Rs 2 lakh. These included contributions to general provident fund, public provident fund, Life Insurance Corporation premium payments, health insurance, and for repaying housing loans – all of which will continue to be offered as tax break options if someone chooses to remain in the old scheme.

  From the 91 per  cent around 11 per cent would be in a “no profit, no loss” situation in monetary terms, Pandey added.

  Besides these salaried taxpayers, young income earners or fresh entrants to economic activities, and senior citizens, including pensioners, would find the new regime as “tax without tension” since they have do not prefer saving instruments as much, Pandey said.

  He added that the government was also focussing on making the tax administration free of any overreach. “We have already introduced faceless assessment, pre-filled returns, documentation identification number (DIN), Aadhaar-based instant PAN [permanent account number], quick refund in more than 90-95 per cent (filings), targeted approach towards tax evaders on the basis of data analytics and information triangulation, minimal manual interface, etc,” he said.

On whether the new scheme could discourage saving, Pandey said the intention of the new regime was to put additional money in the hands of taxpayers.

   “Also, please note a very important point that there are significant numbers of people, who for various reasons, are not able to spare money from their income to save/invest in various saving instruments such as provident fund, pension schemes, interest on house loans, insurance etc. and therefore are unable to take full advantage of all deductions. Therefore, they end up paying more tax in the old tax regime vis-a-vis the new one,” he said.
