But regardless, Nicky sits still in his chair and looks down at a meal that he's barely touched, with all three of his parents arguing loudly, on his birthday that no one seems to have remembered. For a moment earlier he thought maybe he’d forgotten his own birthday, but between everything that's changed with having two different childhoods and a whole lot of inter-dimensional bullshit, December 21st has always been Nicky’s birthday.

“I know,” Nicky responds, kissing Lark on the nose. Lark blushes. Nicky’s affection has been tough to get used to, but whenever he does anything it makes Lark immediately go red and melt. It's a little embarrassing honestly.

“Fucker.” Lark says, frowning at him. Nicky just grins, his fangs showing. He walks away to go pick up another box. Theoretically Lark could just go and grab a box without any trouble, but whenever he goes to try Nicky just picks him up and carries him back into the room in a fireman hold. Which is aggressively more embarrassing than just standing there in protest.
