Only a couple years ago one of the most popular artists in the world had a very public copyright dispute with a minor record label and lost! Taylor Swift, an actual billionaire, had to re-record half her music because she couldn't get the rights to the master recordings. If copyright can be used to steal from actual billionaire Taylor Swift, what the fuck do you think it's doing for you or any smaller artist?
And that's without talking about the use of copyright to divest workers from interests in collaborative works and works for hire is so expected and ubiquitous that a corporation can pull something with years of labor behind it from the public eye permanently on a whim and this is a normal practice. If an animator released Coyote v Acme by themselves or a programmer patched The Crew to work offline, they'd be considered the thieves! That seems like a pretty bad deal for artists to me!
