Kitchen Remodel: When ‘Functional’ Isn’t Enough
Tumblr media
I’ve reached my breaking point with my kitchen.
The cabinets are… fine. The countertops are… fine. The layout is… functional. But "fine" doesn’t cut it when I’m spending half my life in here, wrestling with a dishwasher that doesn’t fully open because the fridge door is in the way. (Who designed this? A goblin?)
After one too many passive-aggressive cabinet slams, I started researching kitchen remodels. I’m not looking for a full gut job—just smarter storage, better flow, and maybe, maybe, an island that isn’t from IKEA. That’s how I found Mosaic’s kitchen remodeling page. Their before-and-afters were chef’s kiss—especially one where they reconfigured a galley kitchen into an open L-shape with a breakfast bar.
What stuck with me:
Small changes, big impact. Relocating the sink or adding pull-out shelves could save my sanity.
Contrast is key. Dark lowers + light uppers = instant depth.
Hardware upgrades matter. Brushed nickel handles? Suddenly, it’s ~elevated~.
I’m still in the "saving inspo pics and crying over quartz prices" phase, but at least now I have a vision beyond "please, just let the dishwasher open all the way."
