This is really important information anyone in the Cars fandom need to know about The Weathers Family...

༆ Strip is basically the father figure, Lynda is the mother figure, Cal is like Nephew who's basically a son now, and Tex is the weird Uncle-Grandpa. This is how is it.. Oh and Ig Lighting and Bobby are the unofficially adopted children, just because they're best friends with Cal and basically treat the Weather's Ranch as their second home; will come inside like it is their own damn house. They've never heard Strip curse though... so not full Weathers family. Actually they heard Strip curse ONCE. And that's because he stubbed his toe on the dinner table while Lighting, Bobby, and Cal where throwing a football in the yard. ༆ Strip might seem calm in the movies, but it is widely accepting that his southern butt is nothing but crazy once he's out of public eye. Sometimes, not even Lynda can tame him no matter how hard she tries... she loves him so much but girlie need a break from Strip sometimes; like, seriously, give her a vacation!! Poor Lynda is the only Weathers with a head screwed on correctly. Literally. Strip, if not in the cameras, is unhinged. Tex eats Jimmy Dean's frozen breakfast sandwiches frozen b/c he cannot go through the trouble to unwrap them. Cal is... basically Strip Jr. (/j), and Lightly and Bobby... are Lighting and Bobby. The most unhinged you'll get Lynda is when she starts preforming derby stunts again; then you'll have chaos reigning over the Weathers family. ༆ Strip has gotten String cheese banned from being served in the Dinoco tent. He has also gotten Dinosaur chicken nuggets banned from being served in the Dinoco tent. This is because he cannot handle that food properly. He bites into cheese sticks and traumatizes Cal with gore scenes of dinosaurs eating each other whenever those food items are out. Tex almost had a heart attack when he first saw Strip chomp into a cheese stick. He thought Strip was the devil himself for a few minutes... But, lowkey, he probably is. And we'd still love him for that. Because we love the Weathers Family. ༆ Lynda's word is always final. Always. Don't question her. Ever. ༆ Tex... thought joints were joints and not joints; Strip was not amused (/ref to that one drawing) ༆ Cal was totally abandoned by his family.. probably most likely... left on Lynda and Strip's door step by Strip's like- brother or sister or something. and like-

Lynda and Strip raised him like they were his own kid. ༆ Tex used to make little fake races for Cal when he was young! It was really cute. Strip and Lynda would participate and always make it seem like Cal was better at them at racing, just to boost his confidence. it's what made Cal start to love racing and now they plan to do it with every Weathers generation. ༆ THIS FAMILY IS JUST A CHAOTIC LITTLE SOUTHERN FAMILY WHO WE LOVE AND STAND /J ༆ AND JUST TO REMIND EVERYTHING, CAL'S NAME WAS SUPPOSED TO BE STRIP JR. AND HIS RACING NICKNAMES ARE 'THE BLUE FALCON' AND 'PRINCE'. PLEASE- DON'T EVER FORGET THIS BECAUSE IT IS REALLY, REALLY CUTE.

Uhh write us an essay why you love all the dinoco folks please? They're just so perfect I love them

Okay so I don’t remember if I had made this post before or after you sent this ask in, so I’m just gonna continue adding to this list in bullet-point form because I left essay writing in the past with the remnants of my over priced education.

WHY I LOVE THE WEATHERS FAM PART 2

DETAILS. For crying out loud all the DETAILS they integrated into Strip’s model. Sure, the proportions are off because they had to ‘cartoon-ize’ him, but everything is so spot on and freaking accurate when compared with the actual Superbird otherwise. Examples:

his fender and side scoops

door handles

the ridge running down the center of his hood

the transition from the rest of his body to the cabin is on point

shiny real (not for looks) rear bumper

even his freaking taillights are accurate

please someone find me whatever wonderful animator made his model so I can thank them please I’m dying

Lynda’s freaking cute as heck too. I love her headlight covers and that little hood ornament she’s got. So modest but dignified at the same time. Also the fact that she’s got the Dinoco paint too because she’s so freaking supportive.

SHE’S GOT SO MUCH CHROME ON HER. No seriously next time y’all watch the movie, get a good look at her. She wears chrome like a rich woman wears fine jewelry. And she makes it look good.

I love the contrast between Lynda and Strip’s models. He’s a muscle car literally built to race, and she’s just a regular ol’ station wagon. To me that really just emphasizes that the whole ‘you could do better’ argument (when it comes to looks) is a load of utter bs because a) looks really do not matter and b) everyone has a different idea of beauty and c) it’s really what’s on the inside that counts. 

Also they’re not afraid to be a little affectionate in public and IT IS SO CUTE.

Did I mention I love how they love each other? DID I?

Strip doesn’t hesitate to give Cal a hard time, which shows how close they really are. In Cars 1, all we really get to see is the professional version of him, and not so much who he is on a more personal level. The three whole words they give him in Cars 3 gave me what I wanted to see - the genuinely laid back, personable guy that enjoys all the aspects of the racing scene, not just being on the track. It’s like he’s living vicariously through Cal, getting to relive his glory days by giving Cal his own.

Cal. So innocent. So pure. This grown man wouldn’t hurt a soul if his life depended on it. 

Also Cal takes bad fortune comparatively well and I respect that. I wish I could be as strong as him. If I could just be sad but optimistic every time something went wrong I would have a lot fewer issues.

When Tex and Strip go ‘adopt’ Cruz into the Dinoco family, Strip’s got this really warm, gentle smile going the whole time and every time I look at him with that soft expression I die a little on the inside. You can’t tell me that he doesn’t see that thing inside her that she couldn’t see herself. He sees greatness and isn’t hesitant at all about bringing her into the fold.

I’m your opinion, what are the most popular fics you’ve written (which are superior by the way) and do you like writing them?

Getting this kind of feedback continuously revalidates my existence in the fandom, so thank you much :)

I’d reckon my most popular fics were probably:

the one where baby Cal paints Strip pink in the middle of the night without him knowing about it (this one was a lot of fun, and it was hilarious to visualize)

the one where Cal meets Lightning for the first time (talk about some feels and the start of an important friendship)

the one where they get news that Cal’s parents have died and Strip and Lynda have to break the news to him (this one broke me, but I had to do it, only read this one if there are tissues readily available).

I do love, above all others, writing the fics that involve the Weathers bunch. Why? Well, a) they’re my favorite characters and b) they have been for some time so I’ve got their personalities nailed down pretty well. It’s easy for me to let the story just flow if I’m writing about them because I know exactly how they’d react to any given situation.

I like writing the other fics too, but I can say I’m not as passionate about them, especially when several people ask fics about the same topic over and over again (i.e. Jackson/Cruz stuff atm). It’s fun to explore the other characters, but I just don’t have the sheer amount of knowledge and familiarity with them as I do with my beloved Dinoco fam. That’s why when I write fics about the other characters, the first couple tend to turn out okay, but quality decreases over time as I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel for new ideas.

But in general? I love writing fics! My favorite ones are the super specific and interesting prompts. I don’t much care for vague prompts because I could do anything with them, and I don’t always have the creative will to come up with something out of the blue.

TL;DR - I will forever and always be able to write about the Weathers’. In general, if you want to send me a fic request that you think I’ll enjoy, make it interesting! And I love anything Dinoco blue with a southern accent.
